What's up everybody welcome back to the channel, my name is Walter. If you're new to the channel, this channel is all about travel credit blogs things like that, we have really great discussions with a great debates: teach you how to travel for cheap or free and also how to build and maintain your credit. So that sounds interesting. I would definitely suggest you subscribe to the channel.

We are moving so so fast to 2,000 subscribers just right around the corner, and I appreciate it. Today's video is going to be about the AMEX gold card, the Amex platinum card and Max green card. All the American Express charge cards and which one is the best now I have two out of three. So here are my two right here and I just want to kind of figure out you know here am I to I want to figure out which one is best for you, which one have you had to really pick, which one would be the one card you Stay with, as far as these charge cards give me an opinion, that's hat it's good to base just go right into the video all right everybody.

Now I want to go from order from least to greatest, so we're going to start off. First is with the AMEX green card the charge card. Then I'm going to make it very clear, we're going to do the benefits that are official them that are like right now. I know there are a lot of perks as far as upgraded rumor perks for the green card, but we're not gon na do that.

We're gon na do is just the perks that currently offer for each card. So, let's get right into the green car, first, okay, so the MX green card. So right now, as you can see, points get out at the big rewards. You start your journey with the green.

You earn to membership reward points per dollar when you spend on eligible purchases at Amex, travel.com, there's a zero dollar intra annual fee for the first year currently and there's a ninety five dollar annual fee. You get to membership reward points when you use it for traveler Amex travel comm. So it's the only time you're going to get to membership reward points per dollar. You get one point two per dollar on other purchases, so gas just pretty much any other purchase.

Whether that's online or not, online also pay with points you can pay with some points. I'm you also have payment flexibility, doable charges of 100 or more so. Currently, there is, let me see if there's any sign up bonus as far as what I'm looking at here. No sign up bonus, trust.

What I'm seeing you do get you know: car rental loss and damage insurance, roadside assistance, bag and insurance plan global assist hotline rewards. If you drop your phone, you know you still get that Amex protection return protection, warranty, rands out! You get that protection and then you also you know. Of course you get the American Express just the customer service, I'm an American Express really prize themselves on their awesome customer service, so that's kind of what you get right now. So, let's just kind of go over a recap to membership reward points per dollar when you booked through Amex travicom, only 1 % on every other purchase, whether that's in store.
However, you want to do it and that's pretty much it and a 95 our annual fee. After the first year, so as you can see, you know, hopefully they are gon na be upgrading, because it's not much that they're giving you it's kind of just to get your foot in the door, but it's still not a bad card, I'm still a Mac. So you were backed by an Amex, you know: they're slow going right now is don't look like without it, and I truly agree with that. They have a really good line of cards, but yeah that can definitely be improved.

So, let's get into the second card, which is the Amex gold card. So let me go ahead on over to the Amex go car portal. Just give me one second, so here's the Amex go-kart and actually they just revamped the AMX gold card and it's honestly, probably one of my favorite cards, so we're just going to kind of do the details right now. The reward that is giving to you is going to be 35,000 membership reward points after you spend $ 2,000 or more on purchases.

On the first three months. The annual fee is two hundred and fifty dollars, but the annual fee is not waived for the first year. Like it used to be when it was the premiere rewards gold card for X so for MRP points per dollar, u.s. restaurants for MRP on supermarket purchases, only in the United States up to 25,000 per year, which is so much so that is a lot.

So, even though it's capped at 25k, that's a lot of money a year, three points per dollar when you book flights directly with American Airlines or on Amex travel comm, you 120 dollar dining credit which is given to you in increments of ten dollars per month. You can use that at GrubHub seem seamless, Cheesecake Factory Christmas steakhouse, Shake Shack, you also get a 100, our airline fee, credit, no foreign transaction fees and then again, all the other perks that I gave to you as far as with the other MX card. As far as the return protection, you dropped your phone pretty much things like that. Now this card is really awesome again, so here's the card in my hand, this is when it was rose gold.

It is metal now not that it makes it anything less or more. It's still a card, but this is the card right here and I love the fact that you know it's 250 now, but you get so many more perks. I actually have a video guys. You know the Amex cards and the Amex go in an MX platinum and how to actually maximize so what I'll do is.

I will put like some suggestions up a top on top of how to maximize the MX Platinum Card, how to maximize index go-kart. Since I have both of those cards, so that's the second card, the Amex goal card or the Rose go card. Have you had that? So, let's get into the Platinum Card now this is probably you know. This is obviously the most you know prestigious for somebody who is a regular and probably not as rich person like myself.
So let's get into this one too, so Amex platinum card, as you can see, you know the for the first thing it says, is unique experiences. Exceptional services and rewards so right now the current signup bonus, if I'm not mistaken, is 60,000 points. If you spend 5,000 within the first three months, I would definitely make sure that with you guys, so that's one right there that's a lot of that's a lot of points, but you do that it's been a little bit more than what the other ones the annual Fee is five hundred fifty dollars per year at this point in time, but you get so many more purchase. Those perks are uber rides with platinum, so you get two hundred dollars a year.

You can use it in increments of $ 15. So again, they're still doing the increments like the gold card and then in December you get $ 20 extra, so you get actually 35 total for December and it's 200 total and you can use that for other uber eats or uber rides in if I'm somewhere. If I'm like in a month where I'm not really traveling, I'm definitely going to be using it for uber each because hey I'm at work, I'm hungry I'll treat myself once enough to some free or not really free, but you know I'll definitely do what I got To do to kind of make sure I'm maximizing an annual fee. Five membership reward points on flights booked directly with the airline or on Amex travicom, which is the biggest out of all three cards, so Amex green card 2 % MX gold card 3 % amick five.

Okay, so it's awesome also, you get points with prepaid hotel booked on MX travel commas as well. You get a two hundred dollar airline fee credit, as opposed to the $ 100 one with the MX go-kart. You can use that for incidentals how to subscribe, write something recently that the delta gift cards still worked. American airlines not doing good right now, but delta worked in increments of 50 for her.

So that's awesome! Then it worked for her. You also get a feed credit for global entry or tsa PreCheck, which, again i could recommend just do global entry. As you do get blue. You know tsa PreCheck as well, and it's a hundred dollars and they go ahead and reimburse you for your application.

You also have the fine hotel resort program, the global lounge collection, Saks, Fifth Avenue credit, it's just so many things you get go to these status from Hilton, Marriott elites. I'm sorry go to Lee status from Hilton go to leave status from Marriott. You can also status match. You know the gold early status from Hilton to Wyndham, to help you off the casinos etc, and it's just a lot of perks now guys.

In my opinion, I'm gon na go, and I know this is kind of tough. I'm gon na go max platinum card now. I know I am a big big foodie. I love to eat so Amex gold card is definitely a must-have in my wallet but, like I said in the beginning, the video, if I had to pick which one it was it's going to be the AMEX platinum card all day every day I can make up For the loss - and you know you only get one point $ 4 on any other purchase as far as shopping or food or anything like that.
I can go elsewhere and get you know you know, did a certain amount of money on groceries. Certain item on those supermarkets, you know you got the Chase Freedom Card choice, freedom, unlimited card, you got things where you can maybe kind of maximize it. So, but you cannot, I personally cannot go with out. If I had to choose, I'm not going to give up.

My Hilton status, a Marriott status priority pass lounge access, even though they kinda just got rid of the restaurants, still centaurea lounge access, which only Centurion car, which is black card and platinum card holders, get access to just so many things. The concierge that MH platinum does, which is awesome. They recently just helped me out really well. So it's just so many other different perks that the Platinum Card gives to you that I feel, like you know, gold card and green card.

Definitely don't so yeah. My choice is going to be Amex platinum. I think you guys kind of knew that, though I'm a big Amex person, but Amex platinum is my favorite. It just so happens to be the most expensive to, but it's okay, I get at least $ 1,000, more or value from this card every year, not including the sauna bonus again.

If you want to figure out how I do so, if either the Amex gold card or Amex platinum card, I hope with the suggestions up top, if you haven't already seen them okay. So this is my video, but now I heard my question is to you which one is going to be your best: the MX green card, the current one, not the rumored one, the Amex gold card or the MX platinum. And, if so, why? So that's my video for today. I hope you guys enjoyed don't forget guys.

We are doing the Amazon gift card. Giveaway just make sure you are subscribed, make sure you've commented because it's coming up very soon, I'm going to be doing that giveaway. So so not gon na fill it. I also have t-shirts.

One saw as well for the got credit so definitely make sure you want to support the channel. Do so and if you do consider applying for the gold card or the green card or the Platinum card or any American Express card, my referral link is down in this description, so we really mean a lot to me. I applied for the green card with the 25k sign up offer based on the rumors (and hope) of Amex upgrading it soon. My logic is I can avoid the annual fee for the first year, have a decent sign up bonus and take advantage of the new upgrades.

Either thinking gold or platinum for my first amex card but still got a couple of slots open before going over 5/24

Platinum and Gold go together the perfect pair. 😀

For me the Amex Gold is a keeper for sure. Reason being is that I don't have to go out of my way to justify the use of the card. 4x on grocery and food is a no brainer in my world. The Platinum does give better perks but the annual fee is substantially and in my heart of hearts I believe most people have to justify the annual fee by forcing themselves to do things that wouldn't otherwise do.

Example…if you only use Uber or Uber Eats once a month to get the credit then you're probably not using those services anyway, thus using only to justify. If you don't travel at least once a month then I'd venture a guess that you'd be better of spending that $550 on just arriving the airport with enough time to get a decent meal at a restaurant while waiting out your time. Marriott Gold is watered down (can't even get free breakfast at most places). With everyone getting Diamond status from Hilton Aspire just for paying a high annual fee makes Gold status there practically useless. Having Marriott/Hilton Gold in places like ATL, LAX, JFK, LGA, LAS, SEA-TAC, SAN, SFO, MCO, means nothing because too many REAL elites are in those spaces.

Priority pass = yuck. Centurion Lounges used to be nice but with everyone getting access just from having the Platinum has lead to loud and often overcrowded spaces (hence the reason Amex is now controlling the crowd issue by setting 3 hours time limits of departure and absolutely NO USE on arrivals.) And unless you're in an international Centurion lounge don't expect lobster and steak because it ain't happening stateside. Oh and I need to mention that there are only 8 Centurion lounges in the US and guess what…they're all in highly populated Elite Status airports…like the list I mentioned a few lines above which means THE WILL BE CROWDED.

Airline credit is hard to use…if Delta kills the gift card route then one has to find yet another way to justify having the card. The hotel lounge collection is nice…but lets be real…most of us churners aren't staying in those places…they're over priced and we can do a lot better using an OTA or booking directly.

So what do we have left…TSA/Global Entry…well you can get that on most mid-level premium cards. Platinum offers no travel protection whatsoever (how can Amex brand this as Premium travel card???) which can be had on a basic no annual fee Citi card. No primary car rental insurance, no price protection, NONE of their MR earning cards earn on bonus categories outside the US…total all of this up and you find yourself with a very expensive piece of light-weight metal that gives one the feeling of "perceived" prestige. And perceived shouldn't even exist because a true churner knows not to use the Platinum for ANYTHING other than travel or if you're buying something really expensive that you may want to return later via their Return Protection. The card should almost NEVER leave your wallet.

I'll give it to you, the customer service is top notch. Amex is a good company that does offer very good value in most of their other cards…the Platinum is just a swing and a miss if one truly takes the time to compare it to the likes of the Citi Prestige or the Chase Sapphire Reserve they realize that both of the Platinum alternatives have similar and often better perks and they both have lower annual fees and offer TRAVEL PROTECTION.

CSR = travel protection, decent customer service, widely accepted, primary car rental, almost identical (and may even better) transfer partners, higher travel credit that doesn't have to play the gift card game, etc, etc.

Citi Prestige = travel protection, okay customer service, widely accepted, okay travel partners, TSA/Global Entry, cheaper annual fee, 4th night free on booked travel (2x per year) travel credit that triggered by even parking garages, 5x on air travel booked DIRECT and via OTA's, 5x on dining (even outside the US), and PRICE REWIND!!!

WALT, ARE YOU GETTING IT???…LOL!!! I too like Amex…just not the light-weight metal Platinum that they try to market as a "travel" card.

Sorry…you knew if I were to post I was going to go there. Love the channel and what you do. I like that we can agree to disagree and have a good laugh behind it. I'm with you all the way my friend…keep doin' what you do and keep the great content coming and I'll be on the other side of the screen with ya. BTW…when is the next live session? I do enjoy when you come on and converse live with your subscriber.

Onward and upward towards that 2k subscribers…you'll be there in no time my friend. Congrats on the success you're already achieving with this channel and your content.

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bradley Rich says:

I have both Gold and Platinum cards. I love both, but forced to choose, I would take the Platinum for 5x travel and great lounge access. Bonus: $ 15 monthly Uber credit and $100 annual airline credit.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CastrejonHDTV says:

The green card is a joke, it's not even worth it. For the 1x points you get it should be free. There are credit cards out there with no annual fee that give you more rewards.

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fast Food says:

I have both gold and platinum but honestly I’m not keeping the gold. I enjoy traveling. The point earnings on the gold are great. I’ll downsize when my lifestyle warrants travel.

I'm waiting to see if the rumors are true about the revamp of the green card. If so, I'm seriously considering downgrading from Platinum to Green💳

As usual great information brethren👍team Amex💳 I'm waiting until summer to add another Amex? Have the Gold Delta using that one for my Vegas trip after the car purchase next Amex card on deck.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mr. Berry says:

Amex Gold for the win! Too easy to rack up points. 4x on dinning and groceries, and the biggest Amex MR points offers when compared to any other Amex card.
