When talking about investing, almost every video out there focuses on popular cool companies because those videos attract a lot of views.
Talking about investing in Tesla or Bitcoin is sure to get eyeballs, especially if you stick a picture of Elon Musk on the Thumbnail so I thought I'd do the exact opposite and talk about a few stocks that I am really excited about that are pretty boring.
These companies are all in the semiconductor manufacture industry producing the electronic chips that sit behind all the devices and gadgets that we use every day.
Many will have never heard of some of these companies, but they are huge and they are pouring billions of dollars into building new factories and developing more sophisticated processes.
The world of electronics is in a huge boom - many popular devices and components have demand far outstripping supply for months on end and this problem is only going to get worse.
As the world of smart devices grows, process nodes become smaller, self driving cars, powerful computers and consoles grow and the developing world plays fast catch up, the demand for these semiconductors is only going to grow.
And because of the complexity of making these, there are a handful of companies that are poised to take a big slice of this growth which is why I am invested in them.

What's up guys sasha here, this video is going to be about some super boring stocks that nobody else is talking about, but i am invested in and i think are going to do really well over the next few years. Now, if you go and watch investing videos pretty much all of the stuff out, there talks about really popular topics, because you know people watch videos about really popular topics, and these topics are usually popular to give them credit, because the stocks that they're talking about are Appreciating in value, so if you go and make a video about tesla or if you're going to make a video about bitcoin, it is really good for your channel and everyone goes and watches it. And you can go and put a picture of elon musk on your thumbnail and that's really great. So knowing all this, i decided, i'm gon na go, make a really boring video that does not talk about dodge coin or doggy coin.

I don't know tell me in the comments below which one of those it is. I decided that i'm gon na go and make a video about the manufacturers of computer semiconductor chips and companies that then assemble them into various kinds of hardware. It's really really boring right. Well, i told you i'm sure a bunch of people have already clicked over to funny cat videos so now that they're gone, let's talk about these stocks, so here's the thing semiconductors are fast becoming a hyper growth industry and yet nobody is really paying much attention.

Let's go and look at some recent news. That's been coming out over the last few weeks. Nvidia is struggling to go and produce enough graphics cards for the consumers that are buying them for the second quarter straight. Whatever graphics styles, they are producing, are being sold out in seconds.

Amd are suffering from exactly the same issue, not only with their graphics cards, but also the latest processors, not only with their latest processes, but even the previous generation processes are nowhere to be found. Xbox series x is out of stock despite being launched around three months ago, and sony is having exactly the same problem with their playstation consoles. That seem to be pretty much impossible to find and when they do come out, get sold out in minutes. Even tesla is actually beginning to integrate amd's navy, 23 graphics processing units into their cars, starting from the 2021 model year, which is going to put a further strain on the manufacturing process.

Sure there have been some issues with supply because some factories have been affected by the pandemic and they can produce stuff at the rate they're used to, and there has also been a surge in demand because there's a lot more people who are working remotely. There's a lot more people who are sitting at home and bored and wanting to and do something at home and also with a bitcoin price being the way it is a lot more people seem to want to heat their home with their computer mining equipment instead of Other methods, but i think that this trend is going to continue accelerating and continue exploding for quite some time. Yet your phone now has a dedicated graphics processor unit, which is incredible cars nowadays, brand new cars that are coming out are equipped with pretty much a fully functioning computer inside of them. If you go and look at the internet of things, everything is becoming smart.
Even things that maybe don't need to be more and more people are working remotely, and some of these people need high-powered computers rather than relying on the centralized server sitting in the office. The world of gaming is booming and that world requires ever increasing processing power and if you look at around the world 50 of east asia and two-thirds of india and sub-saharan africa, don't even have internet yet, but these countries are developing and these countries are developing fast. There's a lot of tech companies out there that produce everything from laptops to smart, washing machines, but despite there being such a number of different providers out there, the technology that powers all these devices is becoming incredibly complex. We're talking about semiconductor processes, where the gaps between different chips are as low as five or even three nanometers.

That is the latest process nodes. These technologies are becoming incredibly more complex, incredibly more difficult to do, and that means that they're becoming a lot more centralized because it is incredibly expensive to actually build the factories or foundries that manufacture these chips. The companies i'm interested in within the sector are either the ones that are producing the actual semiconductors themselves or the ones that then go and use these basic components to go and produce more complex hardware that sit a bit above them i'm interested in both because i Think both add a huge amount of value and are used by so many other players that sit above them and i'm gon na go and tell you which ones i'm particularly into, but just before i do that are a super brief disclaimer. I am not a financial advisor.

I can't provide financial advice to you and if you do need financial advice, you'll need to go and seek it from a suitably qualified professional. So here's a quick list that i've made on the screen over here and first in my list is a company called tsmc. It's the taiwan semiconductor manufacturing company. You may not have heard of it if you're, not into tech, but these guys are big, they're, really big.

They are producing chips for a huge number of people, including some of the really big guys, such as apple nvidia and amd themselves. Now the share price for them has already doubled over the last year, but i think there's still a long long way to go and these guys are investing heavily in amazing new factories. Amazing new processes, this company is gon na go really far. Next on, my list is samsung they're, a really, really well known brand that you probably have heard of they make everything from phones to tvs, to washing machines.
Everything in between but they're also becoming a really really big player in semiconductor manufacturing for their own devices, but also for other people as well. They're, reportedly investing 17 billion dollars into a new manufacturing plant in austin texas, where they'll be able to produce the brand new five nanometer process, but also the three nanometer process that hasn't quite arrived, yet their huge capacity and the ability to manufacture their own chips. I think puts them in the driving seat out of all these manufacturers, because they're unique in that they produce everything from the basic components all the way through to the final devices as well as serving other people. Next on my list is micron a really interesting company.

That's becoming really well known for their fast memory, chips that have really revolutionized solid state drives. This is a form of fast memory, begin noticing that a lot of the best, the fastest and most reliable, solid state drives out there, as well as other types of memory and memory related tech out. There uses micron chips and i think that these guys are doing something phenomenal under the bonnet, because the performance of these things has exploded. Their share price is already 750 percent up over the last five years, which is insane, but i actually think this might just be the start.

Next on. My list is qualcomm another company that has had a stellar 2020 and they produce a massive load of different kind of semiconductors as well as working in some other related fields like they have a lot of patents in wireless technology. These guys are frequently the guys who make that kind of component that you see on the back of some kind of schematic or on the back of some motherboard. If you go and look at tech and look at the little components on there, there is probably going to be something that these guys have made on there.

So i really like what they do as well on next texas instruments. I actually have mentioned most of these. In some of my previous videos, where i showed you things that i'm invested in these guys are a stalwart of tech companies, they continue to be a leading manufacturer of semiconductors and they've, been there for decades much longer than some of the other ones, along with micron And qualcomm they are based in the us, but the really interesting thing about these guys is: they actually make the vast majority of their money by selling stuff over to asia, rather than the other way around. They make a lot of very specific analog chips and specific logic, components that get put onto various kinds of boards or various kinds of electronics that serve a very particular specific need, and these guys have built an entire business out of being really good and manufacturing.

These types of devices sitting just above all of these are two companies that i have referenced a number of times before that i am personally heavily invested in because i think they are doing great things, and i think they are going to continue doing great things. For some time to come, they are nvidia and amd. They don't technically manufacture their own stuff. They use mostly the other people that i mentioned just earlier, but they are the forefront of graphics processing.
They dominate the computer space, the console space and many other spaces as well that dominates some server solutions as well and amd is currently well ahead of intel and anybody else in processor equipment as well, so the actual processing units that computers use. I think these guys have a long way to go because of all the factors that i've just outlined, and i am holding my positions in them and putting more money in as well. Now. I think that this whole semiconductor business is going to be exploding over the coming years, and i think that a lot of people will probably not even notice, because you know investing in factories in taiwan is not as exciting as putting all your money in doggy coin Or is it doshcoin anyway? I hope you guys find this useful.

If you have, please make sure you smash the like button feature algorithm. Thank you so much for watching this video. I really really appreciate it and i'll see you guys in the next video you.

I like your prognoses but the stock has been flat for the last 6 months—- do you see any particular reasons? Is it too close to China ?

I just joined eToro yesterday (using your link – you are welcome:) I can't find TSMC and also a few other stocks. Is it because they are traded in markets different to what eToro defaults to? Can I buy TSMC on eToro?

Hi Sasha, Thanks for the awesome video, very informative and had genuinely sparked my interest when first viewed. I have been tracking these stocks since and couldn't help but notice that all of them have a similar price trajectory and lately all of them have seen a dip.

Any thoughts on what global (macro – if there are any) factors might be leading to such an impact?

PS: I understand that you're not a financial advisor 🙂 so please consider this as part of my DYOR. I am just curious if you still have the same opinion on these stocks?

They are good companies but overpriced. Not every good company is a good investment, it depends on how much you pay for it.

Sasha, great videos. I am a nooby, but how can I buy into these stocks through the LSE. Is there a focused fund or ETF. I dont want to have to try and navigate the paperwork / tax / everything of the US stock market. I feel at home on the LSE for now.

Looks like these boring stocks are in fact more exciting! Are there any semi-conductor manufacturers on the FTSE worth knowing about?

How much (more ore less) did you decide to invest in each of these—if I may ask? In the range 500£-1,000£, or in the range 1,000£-2,000£..

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jumoke Lives says:

good video. its the boring companies, like semi conductor manufacturers that run this world, and keep progress moving forward

Hi mate, i'm 23 years old. I have an income of about £1300 (after tax) a month. I've been saving about £750 each month since lockdown. I'm new to all this and not really sure how much i should invest seeing as im new to shares? I'm mostly aiming for index funds but want to dabble in shares. What do you think is a good amount that's reasonable but also worthwhile?

Hi Sasha, I have come across the VanEck Vectors Semiconductor etf which invests in all these companies you have mentioned. Could be worth a look.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bult Vid says:

I almost perfectly predicted your stocks after your introduction. Didn't expected Micron, because imo they are just inferior to Samsung (and why not SK Hynix?) and after your talking about producing hardware above the chips I was expecting something like MSI oder Gigabyte. The rest was pretty much as expected and not surprising to me at all, I think these companies are talked about quite a lot actually. If you want to look into even more niche companies no one really knows but pretty dominant in their field, look at cadence. Someone who designs their own chips will know this company, but other people extremely rarely talk about them. I just looked at their stock price and … damn … I really should start to use my knowledge instead of just going the ETF way…

Though I wouldn't say any of them are really undervalued. Usually the PEs are above 30 which isn't cheap.

    Great video thanks.

Can you explain why the Samsung ticker shows as a UK stock but the stock is in dollars? Also, could you specify the ticker you talking about for Samsung? I find there are various. Thanks! 🙂

Gaming is a booming option. My problem is finding an esport option. Esport once on a trading platform will explode. Mainly because gaming is such a big area. Look at twitch.. look at the adverts within gaming… YouTube etc..

Would not surprise me to see 100 thieves on stock market before long.

Esports will be a big thing soon Imo

Great video sasha what is the difference between the two samsung stocks in trading 212 . SMSN and SMSD they both say London stock exchange ?

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vili Milanova says:

I do not have a lot of time to research my future investments but I always start with information and ideas from you and a few other youtubers and that’s optimised the use of my scared resources (time and money) a lot! It’s almost like outsourcing my basic research 🙂 thank you for maintaining high quality of your content.
