This video is brought to you by ftx, go to met kevin.com ftx to learn more hey everyone. We kevin here in this video. We are going to be reviewing my tesla model s plaid after 3, 000 miles now. I am also a lucid dream edition owner.

So i'll give some updated comparisons of the two, but i specifically want to talk about some things that i really like about the tesla and some things that i don't like. So if you haven't seen the part one video yet where i give you my first impressions and a longer overview of the entire car make sure to check out that video, this will be the updated version. So folks. The first thing i got to tell you is: i miss having more seats.

I came from a model x now. I know these are different vehicles, but i kind of wish i got the model x because it's a five-seater again. I know it's a five-seater, so i should be comparing it to five-seaters just saying if you have a seven or six-seater car and you're going to a five, you just can't help but get in have a bunch of friends and all right we're going out. And then oh, we need two cars because there are one or two extra folks.

So really, if you're looking at buying a car, make sure you consider that seating arrangement, especially if you're coming from a larger one and you're thinking. Oh, maybe you want to move over to a tesla, really look at that model x, tesla the model x tesla, i will say the seven seat model, which is the normal model after savings about 108 k, not the plaid model pretty expensive to get those extra two Seats and they're super tiny and jammed into the back they're more, for i would say, children and, quite frankly, it's even hard to get the children in the back of the seven-seat version, but the six-seat version. That's the dream. That is the version that elon musk likes.

The best he just tweeted about this last few days, so, if you needed six seats, that model x, six seat configuration absolutely incredible and i might be tempted to trade this one in for the model x. Plaid succeed simply because i really want that six seat. It rides higher and those captain chairs are amazing. So now without me talking up the x too much because i realize they're a different style of car.

Let's stick to talking about this one, but then again this is an update, video of how i feel - and it's honestly how i feel the car is fast. We know that it is the fastest production vehicle on the road with a 0 to 60 of 1.9 seconds asterisk, and that's because tesla subtracts about 0.2 seconds for roll off from the vehicle. So it's really like a 2.1 second 0-60, in which case now, i'd almost rather have again the tesla model x, plaid, because that has a 0-60 of 2.5 seconds and i'd rather have an extra seat than those extra 0.4 seconds. So again, a lot of comparisons to the x, but you have to make a comparison to the x because, if you're, actually comparing or you're thinking about getting a tesla model, s think about it.

This way the tesla model s plaid costs, you a hundred and thirty thousand four hundred ninety dollars after the tesla savings, the tesla model x, plaid costs you one hundred thirty three thousand six hundred ninety dollars after savings. That is a difference of three thousand dollars. Three thousand two hundred dollars, so you got ta, compare the two so anyway, those are some some of my initial thoughts here. The loss of the seat really bothers me uh the speed.
I would rather prioritize the extra seat and, i have to say, uh the battery range, the difference between the two plaids, the s and the x nominal. The s is about 3 48. The x is about 3 11.. Now big warning.

If you're thinking about getting into evs and you've never had an ev before you got to remember that these cars lose charge overnight, so you should probably never park your car unplugged with less than 40 miles in it, especially if you're in a colder climate. Why? Because i did that when i went to disneyland and forgot to plug it in because there were no convenient charges, i'm like oh it'll, be fine anyway. Next morning i wake up it's at zero miles. I'm like great i'm like nine miles away from a supercharger.

So i called the tow to tow my car cost me 270 dollars. I got a tick tock of it. Here's a piece of what that looks like keep in mind. As long as your 12-volt battery is on good news, you can put it on tow mode so that way they won't drag your car onto a tow in the event that happens, but honestly there's plenty of range with 348 miles on the tesla model.

S-Plaid 311. On the tesla model, x, plot would be plenty as well when it comes to value, though folks we got to talk value and then i'm going to talk a few specifics about the inside of the car. So it comes to value personally if i was a value shopper and i was trying to get a spacious kind of higher ride, car get the performance feel of the tesla and, have you know some nice battery range personally, i would recommend hands down the tesla model Y performance, the performance gives you that three and a half seconds zero to sixty, really really good. Really fast.

I mean, if we were talking about beamers that'd, be great like bmws, right, 328 or 335 is probably where you'd have to go to really get into those. Those speeds, i would recommend the performance model y hands down, not only with the performance model y. Do you get over 300 miles of range? You get that three and a half seconds zero to sixty with the long range model y which isn't actually that much longer in range. You, your 0 to 60, is like 4.8, which is kind of like.

Ah, it takes a little bit of the fun away. The model y performance is 61 190, with the tesla savings right, you could get it by june 2022, so you're only waiting about three months for it, it's one of the shortest time frames for getting. One of these, like the x, is longer the model y long range is longer and the long range is like 15 extra miles. It's kind of ridiculous i'd rather spend the extra five grand and have the performance and get that one point three extra seconds on that zero to sixty, because that's noticeable.
That's really noticeable like. I was saying that 0.4 from 2.1 on the s plaid to 2.5 on the x-plant i'd rather have the x-plat. It's just not worth it, and, quite frankly, over time in fairness to all of these performance ones, you do kind of get used to it after a while 2.1 for this car i kind of have to baby it, because i don't want people who ride with me. Constantly feeling, like i'm, the jerk who's, always flooring it every turn because it it does catch people off guard.

You know they're on their phone people like flailing around throwing their phones around. I mean. Sometimes it's funny don't get me wrong, but uh, but you know every bit of fun has a limit right, okay, so a few things i specifically wanted to talk about regarding this, and i do want to talk about that safety score as well, because i have an Update for you, i love uh, the solid cover that they have here for the the car really really nice uh. It works very well.

You can't see anything on the inside, which i know a lot of vehicles usually have a little pull forward, but one thing i noticed, i didn't talk about it when i first reviewed this car and it's because i talked about it in the the tesla or in The lucid they have this, this thing that you could pull and that drops the seats down, which i always hated, that about the model x is when i wanted to put the seats down. I'd have to walk around unbuckle the belt and then pull the seats down individually on each side, and it's like oh first world problem right well now they got these two little buttons right here and you could just pull these little buttons here, which are great and Then just boom, i don't even have to go there and deal with the the belt or anything it's great. So if you're trying to load the back and have more space really convenient again, the lucid does have that as well. If i were on the other side to be able to push that down a little bit more, this video is brought to you by ftx, where you cannot only use trading view services on the desktop app, but you can also trade your crypto right away on the Desktop app or on your phone and if you want to get free crypto for every time you trade crypto over ten dollars, make sure to go to the link down below, go to met.

Kevin.Com ftx and use code meet kev when you go download that app and sign up you get free crypto every time you trade over ten dollars, which hopefully is every single time, because you should be trading over ten dollars, especially if you're watching this video. So trunk. Great love it, and especially what i like about the trunk is that i can actually push the button here physically and it opens which is great now. Why is that a big deal i mean every car has that right.
Well because remember, teslas have frunks the problem with the front, and there really should be is there's, there's no exterior button. So when the car knows you're here, there should honestly be like i mean how cool, if i could just push the logo or something and it would pop the front that'd be cool. I always have to open the darn app and sometimes, if your connection's not great or go inside, the car that'd be the other option, but that's inconvenient if you're carrying stuff - and you want to put it in here - i don't. I don't have to go inside the car to open this.

You could uh, but usually i have to open up the app and then i have to do a little open thing, but if the connection isn't great, this can be a slow process. Drives me, nuts, this, by the way best place ever to throw your uh, your tequila or or whatever pre-game materials. You need, like um red solo cups, great place to do that. Now.

We've talked in the other videos a lot about the inside and how i feel about it really like it drives tight uh. I i personally think it drives a little tighter than the lucid the uh electric engines are not as loud as they are in the lucid. The lucid does have more attention to detail on the inside, i would say, but honestly, comparing the two. I would much rather have the tesla, because i care about the technology.

I think probably older generations don't care as much about the tech. They just want something that feels luxurious and comfortable, but most, in my opinion, customers of tesla, and actually it's not just my opinion. Statistically statistically, your tesla customer is 25 to 45 years old and 70 to 80 percent of them are dudes. I want the tech, and so far the only thing in terms of like maybe defects or whatever, that i've seen is.

It just feels like this wetter weather stripping right here is getting ready to kind of pop off already, but beyond that really they've minimized panel gaps and other sort of quality issues that tesla's have often had in the past. So very happy about that uh. I will say i brought and credit to elon musk, okay, but i brought jack in here and i said: hey jack, you got ta honk the horn, because the horn does this funny thing where it'll do a honk and then i i set it to play the Little song so yeah, i mean it's a pretty cool horn and i can actually, i don't know, i think it's a bug or whatever, but i could do that, while i'm driving around so sometimes i'll like drive around downtown i'll, just do a little honk and then People will go nuts for it, it's great uh anyway, so i asked jack, i go hey, you want to hear the horn come in here, and so he comes on my lab and he starts doing this, and i complained about this in my first video too, and I'm like no no jack, there's a button right here, uh right right there, and - and so he looks and he's like, constantly still pushing this. So i think tesla finally realized that it's kind of unsafe for unfamiliar people not to be able to just push their hand on the middle here, and so, as of i believe, november of last year, production vehicles, the teslas with this yoke, will have horn activation through This kind of press, so if i do end up buying the new model x, plaid and switching from this to the six-seater, then i should be able to do this, which is kind of cool.
Now they do say - and i know i get this comment - and people in the comments are like no look kevin. You could just put your palm over the whole side here, fine, but intuitively in an emergency that takes training. Remember people don't rise to the level of their expectations in emergency, they fall to the level of their training and that's my training. You know this is what we've been conditioned to now uh.

I do love, i have to say the yoke i've gotten used to it. I spend just a lot of time uh on autopilot, so i like that i could fully see what the car was seeing and i've really gotten used to palming the yoke when i'm doing those full circular turns in my first video i'd kind of like fall off Of the yoke when i was doing those turns because i'm kind of expecting the wheel to turn back around and if there's just no wheel here, so you can't really palm it around that way. But as long as you put your pollen palm inside here, follow it and follow it back actually works quite well, so i've i've come around to liking. This also the charger that they've got over here really like this.

The lucid does not have this as conveniently as the tesla, but the fact that i could just lay my phone right here and then get that wireless charging with my case on phenomenal, really really good feature of the tesla. So now we got to talk about the safety score. Okay, so the safety score thing really bothers me. So, first of all, in order to get in the full self-driving beta, you have to have a safety score of, i believe at least 98, but definitely 99 or 100.

Those folks can get in uh to the the full self-driving beta. So i got my car december 10th. I did not have a safety score at all until about january 10th and it turns out the reason for that was. You need to park your car, basically every night in your garage where you've got strong wi-fi for them to even turn the safety score on for you so like as long as you have strong wi-fi, you could get a safety score within the first two days of Your car ownership - it's not like you, have to be patient, wait for your safety score, whatever you should be getting your safety score right away and they measure your safety score based on forward collision warnings based on hard braking, aggressive, turning unsafe, follow and forced autopilot.

Disengagements. Honestly forward collision warnings forced autopilot disengagements, not an issue, usually at all, but heartbreaking, aggressive, turning and unsafe follow these are really really annoying, because there are times i will come up on somebody who just yoinked out of some plaza or whatever, and i'm like. I don't want to hit the brake, i don't want it to break. I don't because i don't want my safety score to get done, because i really want the full self-driving beta now i've gotten good at this.
Between january 10th and february 10th, i had a 100 safety score, still no invite between uh february 10th and today, which is march 23rd. I have a 99 score because i took it to disney and then one time i did a donuts in a parking lot. Okay, one freaking time that one time i get a 92 safety score that day and it lowered my entire average from 100 to 99.. Okay, fine! Fortunately, that day is up in like like a lap that day in four days.

So in four days, when that 92 goes away, it's going to be pretty awesome, because if i go all the way back so yeah tap back all the way there we go see. Look at that. I was a hundred. I was 99 92 108 miles, dr uh driving and ten percent unsafe, follow which it's impossible not to get unsafe, follow on the highway.

It's just it's so stupid how sensitive it is for unsafe, follow, but whatever anyway, once i lapped that in four days i should be back to a hundred safety score, but either way i'm still not getting the frickin invite it's kind of annoying, but i'm kind of I'm over it at this point, i'm like one day one day i'll get the full self-driving and then i can actually do review videos on the full self driving. I know it'll come i'm a little frustrated, because the reason i bought this car instead of just keeping my model x was because i wanted the full self-driving beta. But i can't get the beta on my old model x because it's the 2017 model and they don't yet have the option for you to buy the interior camera module, which is in the rearview, mirror to retrofit the old car for full self driving. Even though i paid the 10 000 for the full self driving on this on that car and on this one still no invite on this one and the other one can't get it so anyway, some frustrations with that.

But you know what i'll get over it i'll get over it. Okay, so that's full self-driving in terms of regular autopilot, amazing, as always uh, and i will say, if you're looking for a car, that's kind of like a looker, probably not the model, s plaid. I really don't think most people can tell the difference between the model. S certainly pretty much.

Nobody can tell the difference between the model. S and the model s plaid and most people can't even figure out the difference between the model 3 and the model. S which i know i know a lot of people will be like that's ridiculous, kevin. It's so obvious.

Most people don't know. So, if you're looking for like an incognito fancy car, this is a good one. If you want something flashier, definitely the model x or like that lucid dream edition. Everybody looks at that one.
I personally don't really care. I don't want people looking at me. I just i'd rather have blacked out tints in these and just be in my little box and be left alone uh, not that i don't want to say hi to people, but sometimes when your car is just like. Okay, i just i'm on my mission, i'm on my mission i'll talk to you later anywho uh, so um my thoughts on the tesla model, s platte.

Kevin, you have to cheat like I did to get FSD beta: cancel your FSD request in the car and then wait a couple hours for your score to disappear. Then re-enter the Beta request in the car, wait until the score thing pops up. Then go drive 100 miles, at night and in a low risk location (away from people). Then give it a day or three and you'll get the beta. It worked for me
