President Joe Biden claims that the high energy prices are the fault of the US oil industry. That is a straight up lie. Don't be fooled by low level attempts to shift blame by getting the crowds angry at easy to sell villains. Think for yourself.

The US government under Biden has absolutely showered oil companies with leases and infrastructure. This letter is completely false. This is just like the time oil "clapped back" about leaded gas and almost ended humanity, people keep falling for just outright lies from these clowns.

It's honestly time to just shut the oil industry down. They're addicted to lying, blaming others for their own malfeasance, and we're coming up on the second near-miss human extinction event directly caused by oil and only oil (assuming we survive this one which gets more doubtful by the day). Just wrap it up this industry cannot be rehabilitated.

This is business. Yes, it is personal also. We (Big oil) have to be profitable and reward our shareholders. Glad I invested in oil during the last 18 months. Selling it all soon to buy tech stocks that are getting decimated.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars eyesuckle says:

So, if [somehow] the oil industry was not making any money while the world continued without pause to consume millions of barrels of their product every day, then they are incompetent and deserve whatever misfortune befalls them. And I have no doubt they are using the war in Ukraine as an excuse to raise prices and increase their profits. They're a business. That's what businesses do.

Second, if we are going to reduce our consumption of oil from this time forward to mitigate the effects of global warming then, yes, to invest in oil refining and transporting infrastructure seems foolish. If, currently, our infrastructure delivers enough oil to all its consumers to keep the machine going, why should we be building more? If we are at all sincere about reducing CO2 emissions (and we'd better be!) then that means that going forward, we can only produce and burn LESS oil. So building more pipelines or refineries would just be dumb.

And yes, in the meantime, this means great pain for the consumer. But instead of bellyaching about it or suggesting we build more infrastructure to produce more supply (which we all know is the wrong thing to do) to bring prices down, we should be bringing pricing down by producing energy in carbon-free ways–nuclear, solar and wind. All of them.

In short, we don't want to bring oil prices down by increasing supply. We must bring oil prices down by reducing demand.

The electrification of the transportation industry is finally (praise Jebus) making some progress in that department–thanks largely to Elon Musk and Tesla. But it's just a start. A very late start.

High gasoline prices are OEMS and consumers fault. Use your brain before complaining. Elon Musk is showing you all the way on how not to rely on fossil fuels.

I'm sorry, but oil company profits have hit record highs, and what the oil companies responded with, you should have invested more in oil 1-2-3-4-5+ years ago to get a piece of this price gouging. Nah, the government should have invested more in renewables rather than arguing about the existent of climate change, our investment was the goddamn war in Iraq. The oil companies didn't even defend themselves about the price gouging!

I'm so happy that you took the gloves off regarding Biden. Too many YouTubers are afraid of hurting peoples' feelings about politics. Ignoring the fact that we have a horrible president won't make our problems go away. Sunshine is the best disinfectant. Keep being totally honest and open about your opinions Tom.
