Wouldn't China also be a candidate? Destroying the pipeline means that Russia keeps selling cheap gas to china (at a time when china is struggling with energy). It also damages Germany's manufacturing capability (a competitor of china's).

Russia has been known to cut internet connections around the world as well as telephone and critical military undersea equipment of NATO. Also, Putin is a very formal and legal mentality and works by paper and signed agreements so stopping the sale of gas to Europe while a contract still exists has always been an issue for Putin so by destroying the pipeline he properly ends that problem as well as knowing that it is on the European side means that the cost of repair one day in the future will fall on Europe too.
If Russia can turn off the pipeline gas at the source why sabotage themselves? Who benefits in this? LNG exporting countries like the US. I'd look there.

I have to disagree with your assessment with Russia and Putin. Putin defintely could benefit from such explosions. By sabotaging the Nord Stream, Putin makes ending the war much less beneficial to Russia, which could discourage the people opposing the war inside Russia.
Two very important facts were not expressed. First, the new Norwegian gas pipeline crosses the Nord Stream pipelines 1 & 2 in the same seas. Why wasn't it sabotaged? The saboteur was prejudiced to sabotage only the Russian pipelines! No one on any video on YouTube has explained this fact! another fact: In the days just prior to the pipeline sabotage, the German people were protesting in the thousands to have the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline launched and delivering gas to Germany — the German people are very concerned about freezing and the very high cost of heating their homes this winter. The saboteur decided to destroy the Russian pipelines in a timely manner before the German Government was swayed by these German protests! The biased media does not cover the increasing protests in Europe against NATO, and the war, and the deficiency of energy for heating their homes for the winter. The people want peace, but the leaders want war!

Russia could only plug the end of all pipelines using pig with exerting backpressre at almost 9-barg. Possible to include anti-corrosion fluid to prevent salt water to damage the pipe internals. Have to do now without further delay
The perpertrator shall deny vehemently even though their President (POTUS) has openly told the world that they would take out the NordStream-2 pipelines. They were at the site since military exercise with EU members and did not leave after. Too bad for Germany to suffer and still sticks with the culprit that later shall sell more liquid gas (LNG) to europe
Very good. An important related note is Russia did not start this war. It was started in 2014 and began Feb. 20, 2014. Rand Corp. "Extending Russia Competing from Advantageous Ground" is a good read also.

One possibility is Russian partisans, that is a group of anti-Putin Russians who want to weaken him until he is replaced. In order to pull this off, though, they would probably need allies in Gasprom. This is not impossible.

So what I learned from this video is that Trump was 100% right. About *everything*..
Russia can be sued for not delivering gas in the pipeline, they signed a lot of contracts for gas, unless they are unable to do so, hmm. Also its a warning that they can cutoff other gas lines still in operation in Europe or internet cables. Gas was never going to be sent thru those pipelines unless Germany did Russia bidding, that was not going to happen so why not destroy the pipeline then.
Trump was right. This was preventable.
