All brokerages caused some kind of deterrence to buying stock, not just Robin Hood. Even Fidelity and Vanguard changed policies delaying users from joining the squeeze.

If a short seller is paying interest on the borrowed shares, who is getting the interest? The broker who lent the shares they were holding or the owner of the shares?

The SEC will change the rules allowing hedge funds to not report their shorts for a long period of time giving them time to get in, do their damage and get out before anyone knows.
It was my understanding that the shutdown on the purchase of the stocks by RobinHood was due to a lack of liquidity on their part to secure the transactions.
