If you are trading options on TSLA, your options positions will also undergo the same corporate action. For a forward split, the number of contracts you own will increase by the forward split multiplier while the strike price will be divided by the forward split multiplier.
EXAMPLE Pre-Split (August 28): An investor holds an option with a deliverable 100 shares of TSLA stock with a strike price of $2,000. After adjustment for the split (August 31), he will hold 5 TSLA options, each delivering 100 shares and with a strike price of $400. Reminder: In a forward stock split, the number of outstanding options is proportionately increased, and the strike price is proportionately decreased.
Ricky I have a question. It says on the google that "You must own $TSLA before august 21 in order to qualify for the stock split" is that mean if i buy from August 24 to 28 my shares wont spli

Whats with the ex dividend date of tomorrow. I thought record dates are for dividends. Do you have to own the shares by tomorrow to get the 5 for 1?
I'm confused. So I have 5 Tesla stocks at an average of $1588. It's close to $2000 right now (August 21st). So after the split the price will be lowered…….. so if I don't sell my 5 stocks (at $1588) but then I buy it after its split (let's say it's $300 a share)….. what happens to my average? Shouldn't it drop considerably (which is really good for me)?
What's this August 21st date all about? If I buy on August 24th, what price am I paying for the stock? Waiting for money to clear in my account.

That 1 share is now split by 5… Now being at $320.
If I buy one, do I now own 1/5th of the share?
Or is this 1 full share at $320?
Secondly, what happens when the split ends when I have that 1 share that was $320? What if I let's say bought 3 at $320 of the split share price?
