It took me THREE YEARS to get the courage to upload a video to YouTube. THREE FUCKING YEARS. I wasted years of my life being afraid of making a video and uploading it to YouTube for some really stupid reasons. But I finally did. And because I did, here you are reading this (hopefully).
Deep down, I was afraid I wasn’t good enough for YouTube…I was terrified I’d upload something, have someone I know see it, and I’d just embarrass myself and look like an idiot. Or worse, some random internet stranger would give it a DISLIKE! OMG! ANYTHING BUT THAT! It’s totally irrational, but deep down I just didn’t think I was good enough to make YouTube videos and I rationalized it in so many ways - I didn’t have the Lamborghini, the professional camera, the equipment, the content…whatever, I didn’t have it.
Then I had a “Fuck it” moment and uploaded a video. Here I am now, 2.5 months later…you’re watching this. That’s crazy that a single video could spark so much of an outreach and inspire people. And that made me realize, if I was too scared to do something, how many OTHER PEOPLE are out there just putting off the things they really should be doing? Something that’ll make a positive impact on people? Ahhh hell nah, that’s not gonna happen.
Here’s my thoughts of why we’re afraid to take risks, to put ourselves out there, and why you should just ignore your brain sometimes. Except if you do something stupid. Don’t do anything stupid. But you get the idea. Enjoy!
PS. I guess my language was a little heavy in this...I say Fuck and Shit more times than I intended without thinking about it. You guys give a fucking shit about swearing or nah? Comment and let me know if it's too much. I potentially may tone it down, but when I make these spur-of-the-moment, I have to consciously think about filtering myself. Damn.

It took me a couple of years as well to finally do YouTube. I would always think about the views, and I would base my self worth off of those views. In my head I always thought, " no one is gonna listen to me or no one is going to benefit from these videos." After realizing that the opinions of other people didn't shape who I was that's when my fear vanished. I have four videos uploaded, with four subscribers and I'm just simply sharing my life experiences and the mistakes I made. I love it despite who sees it and who doesn't because mostly these videos are for me to look back on to make sure I'm growing and if someone benefits from it then that's a bonus.

People think that the mindset of " i can do anything if i put in enough time and effort" is arrogant. They're usually the people who can't stand to see you being more successful than them. I've always envied people who know they're capable of anything and then demonstrated that.

Wow I just stumbled across this channel. Graham you're are a very inspirational person, I think it is because you definitely tell it how it is and you are honest. I am slipping down that muddy slope that you were talking about. I started to make Youtube videos about gaming and tried to do them well, then I slowed down and stopped making them, and kept making excuses about different lighting and games and cameras and computers that it made me think I best not make content.

The truth is, maybe gaming isn't the right thing for me on Youtube, I am a window cleaner in the UK and I am passionate about what I do when it comes to cleaning, I am very maticulous and that's why my customers love me. I don't want to be average, I want to be the best at what I do. Despite being great at what I do, I feel that I'm not good enough to be in front of the camera. I am always spending so much time what other people think that are walking by, imagining what they are thinking of someone who is talking to a phone or camera.

I'm not sure of the best way to takle this and to step up and get out of it, I have always been a bit of a recluse but I don't think I have always wanted to be that way. I feel like I have fell into it and feel rather trapped, I look at other people like yourself as a means of escape from the reality of the road I am currently on in my life.

Would you be able to make a video on confidence and videoing in public? I think that would be a great video to watch!

Thanks for your amazing content Graham!
