I trade low caps the same idea except buy under vwap. Looks like Roland Wolf strategy.

One thing that I would add, indices and market direction.
Make sure the indices or the market is trending or at least green and no economic news can adversely impact it pre-market.
If the indices are trending down, the tickers would not sustain is up move, it either consolidate or reverse, especially if they are big caps.
