Actually, Kevin, Twitter does have an obligation to properly know how many bots there are and disclose that. They are a publicly traded company. They’re charging people for advertising revenue based on the number of users and promising that those users are real. That’s why Twitter could be making a huge mistake starting a legal battle because now they’re forced to document users in discovery. Otherwise they open themselves up to fraud from a marketing standpoint and securities exchange fraud. So yes. As a publicly traded company, you bet your ass they’re responsible for that information within a small margin of error. Shareholders, potential investors, and people paying for advertising could all sue Twitter for fraud if they can’t document the number of users they’ve been disclosing. In fact, some people think Elon manipulated Twitter into legal action so that they would have to disclose this in discovery giving Elon the leverage to make them lower the purchase price.
