9% dividends are possible in the Energy MLP space. They have to return most of their profit to qualify as an MLP. Technically it is classed as a return of capital rather than a dividend. You could claim it's risky or you could claim people were assuming fixed energy assets wouldn't have a lifetime past 2030 because of climate concerns. I think the 2030 crowed proved to be woefully pessimistic.
