What's up, everybody welcome back to my channel, so today's video is going to be a really good topic. It's gon na be the MX green card that Chase Sapphire Preferred which one is better. What would you choose? Is there a right answer? So, let's get right into it before we start. This channel is all about travel and traveler tips, credit credit acts and trying to make sure we are maintaining our credit and also traveling for cheap or free, so make sure you subscribe hit the notification bell.

So you don't miss any future videos, let's get right into it. Alright, so there's been a lot of changes with the Amex family. As far as the charge cards are concerned, the green card gold card, the Platinum Card, a lot of things, a lot of changes have happened, physical changes from how it looks so this is the green card right now to the actual changes of the points, the perks And things of that nature, so let's get right into this. So let's first talk about the Chase, Sapphire Preferred card, so this card has been out for a long time now a few years and here are the benefits so the annual fee - that's not really a benefit, but the annual fee is ninety five dollars.

Okay and it's not waived the first year, there are no foreign transaction fees, which is a great benefit when you're traveling abroad. There's two points: two members of two alternate reward points per dollar on travel and dining worldwide, and travel is really really broad. So it can be bus, taxi lifts uber any really like it can be tolls things of that nature, primary car, rental insurance, just awesome, luggage insurance. It all obviously has the the trip delay insurance and it has better transfer partners.

In my opinion, in American Express cards too, so that is the Chase Sapphire Preferred car in a nutshell, that was actually my first travel card. That was the card that I got hit up for about chase. I believe I got about fifty thousand ultimate reward points. If I spend, I think it was three thousand four dollars of leave, it was 40 or $ 30,000.

Was it? I believe it was what that was it, maybe even two thousand I forget, but it was in the first three months and I got 250 thousand awesomer points and I used them not. Obviously I didn't use them well. I didn't know what I was doing at that point in my life, but that was the first chase card I had, and that was actually the last one I had because after that they were on this time time where you couldn't get another bonus for two years. So I started getting other cards and then they came out with the 524.

So I was automatically disqualified because I was getting other cards so just to sum it up. I haven't had a Chase Sapphire card and admit you have to chase freedom, unlimited card um. So you know, do have that also have to chase freedom card, but I do not have to chase sapphire reserved and yes, I do want to get it once 5:24 is clear. I know that good stuff, but let's get into the newer revamped MX green card.
So the MX green card, the annual fee, is a hundred and fifty dollars. It is also not waive to the first year. There is no foreign transaction fees, which is the same as the Chase. Sapphire Preferred car notice.

The annual fee is higher, okay, so 150 95. There's three Amex membership reward points per dollar on Dino and a nice flexible travel. So you know before this revamp Amex was really stingy with their travel or what they consider travel. So this is, you know again it can be Priceline, so it could be hotels.

It could be, you know things like that. It could be again taxis, bus, uber, lift anything travel related and it doesn't have to actually be on. Like you know, Hilton comm make it be Priceline, it could be Expedia Travelocity, it could be Hotwire. It could be all those different third-party websites where you might want to find the best deal.

It also comes with over $ 100 annual, clear credit, which is a expedited screening service through the airport and a $ 100 lounge buddy credit every year as well. It does come with shop runner which, if you guys don't know what shop runner is. It is free two-day shipping. So I've actually used it a couple times of sex with Avenue and gotten two free days, ship and as opposed to paying about, I think, seven or ten bucks for shipping.

So I saved me a couple of dollars and also has baggage. Also, it's round trip trip, delay insurance, okay. So let's talk about the differences as far as you know, what stands out? Okay, now, what stands out with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card is, it is not really, it doesn't really care what it is as far as what you booked before the trip delay, it could be a round trip. It could be, you know, one way they don't care.

If it's round-trip, as opposed to Amex, it has to all be booked on the Amex green card and has to be a round-trip flight. Okay, then that can be paid through taxes. It could be pay with points, it doesn't matter, but it has to be a round-trip flight. So if you're doing one ways which honestly sometimes one ways are cheaper, even if you're going to the same location, one ways are cheaper than booking a round-trip flight.

Sometimes, I've noticed that I've done that actually just booked a trip to Riviera of Mexico in January and again it was cheaper. It's a book to one ways as opposed to a round-trip, so Amex is like no, we need a round-trip and then we'll have ship delay. Justify prefer does not care. Another big difference is three Amex membership war points on travel and dining, as opposed to the chase.

Fi reserved to awesome reward points on travel and dining. Both are very flexible. Both are worldwide, but three is better than two in some instances and in this instance, it actually is better through Amex membership. Reward points is better than two chairs Ottoman rule points now.

I would definitely say when it comes to the transfer partners. Chase wins because it has high it and high. It is really valuable. Free nights are at like five thousand points, and I think they cap, maybe like thirty thousand higher points Amex, does not have that.
I also like the airline partners for chasing things that nature, but on the hotel that Hyatt - and you know I wish you know - I had some more chase awesome reward points and I can actually rack them up more, because Hyatt is a really valuable and again. I would never recommend transferring over Amex points to Hilton or am exports to Marriott is a bad redemption rate unless you're kind of you know, because so I think right now, Amex points r1 Amex point to two hilton points, but hopes importance are so they're not worth Anything, okay, so would never recommend transferring Amex the Hilton unless you're, maybe trying to top it off, maybe like a little bit and trying to top it off for maybe like a free, diner or something like that or you actually really need to, but to transfer Partners Which chase are a lot better now here is where Amex wins, Amex wins with a couple of things. The annual fee may be more to spend from the get-go, but you get more back know. What I'm saying by that is the clear credit is annual $ 100 and also the lounge buddy.

That's $ 200 of credits. So now you are in positing that equity of about 50 bucks now right, you're in a positive at 50 bucks. So I gave you 150. You gave me 200.

My return on investment was 50 bucks. I mean I got a $ 50 return on my investment. So again, when you're paying annual fees for credit cards, you want to return on the investment, because you know paying an annual fee is an investment right. So you don't just want to pay annual fee and not get the annual fees.

Money was worth or get less than the annual fee that you actually paid. You get I'm saying so: you're getting $ 200 lounge buddy, which is good lounge buddy gives you access to different lounges at airports, and you can just download the lounge buddy app and again you'll just go ahead and pay. Now again, if you don't have a Centurion card, if you don't have a Platinum Card, you can't get into the centauri lounges. You can't get into a Priority Pass lounge.

If you don't have Priority Pass already with other cards. So then, giving that to you is awesome and I'm also giving you clear. Let me tell you about clear: okay, clear is a lifesaver people overlook clear because it's not as dominant right now is TSA PreCheck, but when it is there, it is clutch. I've never had a problem to me.

I like clear better for two reasons: one everybody knows: TSA agents are pretty stuck up the pretty rude. Let's just be real okay, so I don't have to talk to them really and I have to really deal with them. The clear agent kind of deals with them says: hey, look, look. He was verified too clear.

He's good boom, keep it moving. The TSA agents. Are we're didn't wan na look at you like? They really have some type of like superpower, but I can stop him from going and if you look different in your pictures I can go about it all night. I don't like TSA agents, I'm sorry, I'm not a fan.
I know they have a hard job, but they're. Also very a lot of them are very rude, so clear makes it easier. I don't have to really talk to the TSA agent as much and also what other people are filling that day or whatever. It is just literally a lifesaver because I was in Texas a few weeks ago for the holidays for Thanksgiving and there's two airports in Texas, there's da l, which is Dallas Love Field, which is predominantly Southwest Airlines and you have DFW, which is predominately American.

Now I was taking a Southwest flight right and I thought I had all the time in the world. I was near Six Flags in Dallas, Texas and I was like look. Love throws only ten minutes down the road. I got plenty of time, I'm more of a procrastinator when it comes to catching flights and I waited and then I looked at the time and I'm like oh da l, love food is all the way on the other side.

So it took me like 35 minutes to get over there to flight border in like 35 minutes or maybe 30 minutes flying to the airport. The main line was garbage, just don't even think about it. Tsa PreCheck, you could have made it, but you probably wouldn't make it. It was kind of busy clear nobody.

Was there only person in the line clear agent got me in and got me out. So what I'm saying with this is look you're, putting more money out, but things like that actually really help. So to me, if I had to pick, I know the trip delay is a little bit better with the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. I know a lot more flexible with that, but there's a couple things that beat that the return on investment to me is awesome upfront not including trip delay or anything like that.

Just me giving 150 for you to give me a guaranteed $ 250 on pocket that I've won, especially if I don't have, since when allows access priority, pass access, and also just the convenience again guys clear to me is a lifesaver, and it only cost me $ 9, since I have a touch of gold cards, so American Express gives you a $ 100 clear credit every year, only paid nine dollars for clear and expedited screening service, the lounge buddy. I could use it for some reason. I didn't have my priority pass car. Am i lost my Amex Platinum Card? Are I left? I left it at home because you need that to get in so that really helps me.

What do you guys think, though both of these cards are really awesome? I don't think I would it's hard to say to have both of these cards. I mean if you couldn't afford it and it's just like whatever it didn't have both of these cards, but I would probably urge you guys, maybe only pick one of them and then I had to pick I'm going with the one that I got right here. The MX green card, now again you get a signup bonus with the MX green card of 30,000 membership, reward points and also a $ 100 away credit, which is luggage if you spend 2,000 in the first three months, which is so doable, but it to be better And more beneficial for you, if you apply under my referral link, if you do so, you get a thirty five thousand Amex membership world point signup bonus any $ 150 away credit. So that's $ 50! More for the away credit.
5,000, more Amex membership, more points, Amex membership, reward points or two cents pour per dollar. So if it's 30,000 Amex points, it is $ 600, it's 35. That is a whopping seven hundred dollars in value. So it would really help you guys out big-time.

If you went that route and apply it under a referral link - and it also supports my channel too so if you guys want to apply for the MX green card or any other Amex cards - click the link below in the description and take you there, you can Sign up pick which card you want, you're done you giving yourself more. Lounge buddy is $175 not $100… it’s like a coupon, same thing with clear. Clear is very limited…with COVID happening, it could blow up

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sam says:

Try a comparison with the Wells Fargo Propel. No fee, same 3X categories and more, no discount for converting points to cash.

im most likely gonna downgrade my CSP to another freedom card and get the amex green CSP unless it plans to do a revamp it just can't compete anymore

I am going to have to disagree here. I think Amex has better transfer partners. The only transfer partner that Chase has is Hyatt and Hyatt just announce a peak and off peak award pricing which decreases the value of Hyatt points. I am team Amex all the way though.

Alot of snobs in our hobby look down on CLEAR for some reason. Like you said, clutch. I was omw home from Orlando with the wife and two kids and saved about 45 minutes of waiting in line using CLEAR. People looking at you like "WTF" when you go to the front of the line, lol.
