People sometimes think of tesla as an electric car company, but but really the the whole purpose of tesla was to accelerate the advent of sustainable energy. Over the past few years, elon musk has been thinking about creating a tesla smart home hvac system that will disrupt the sector of hvacs. You might think that disrupting hvacs, which stands for heating, ventilating and air conditioning, seems like a distraction to tesla's mission. However, a deeper look shows that a tesla home hvac would make a lot of sense.

The average u.s home hvac system uses 46 percent of the total home energy consumption. A tesla hack will not just be a premium device sitting on the countertop of your home. It will save energy and reduce every user's monthly energy bill in this video. I'm going to cover the recent leaks regarding tesla's upcoming hvac, and explain why elon musk has been itching to release one welcome to cast gains academy if you're new to the channel.

Please consider subscribing for more content like this. Let's get right into it in 2015, when tesla unveiled this bioweapon defense mode. Many were stunned by how effective tesla's hvac really was before we get into the specifics. The bioweapon defense mode is a button.

You can press that instantly increases the effectiveness of tesla's hvac in the model x. The results that tesla got were stunning in order to understand the results, we need to get a picture of the scale that these results were on. This is where pm 2.5 concentration units come in handy pm stands for particulate matter in this particulate matter is measured at 2.5 microns or smaller. Hence the name pm 2.5 tesla's tests show that, while turning on the bioweapon defense mode in an environment with a pm 2.5 concentration of over 1000, the model x was able to have the pm.

2.5 concentration go to a range considered good quality in less than 3 minutes. Keep in mind that a pm 2.5 concentration index tracks how much particulate matter there is in the air. The concentration translates into an index that shows whether the air quality is healthy or not. A pm 2.5 concentration of 250 to 500 is hazardous when it comes to a pm, 2.5 concentration of 1000.

The number is not even inside the index. This is because the hepa filter is not only 10 times larger than a normal filter, but also more effective. In fact, according to tesla's tests, this translates to an improvement that is hundreds of times better than normal filters. Not only is it 10 times larger area, but the the quality of the filter is greater, so that translates to a several hundred fold improvements in the filtration capability.

It is 300 times better at filtering bacteria, 500 times better allergens, 700 times better at soda smog and 800 times better at filtering viruses. You might think that a filter diseffective is not needed in your home. However, finding the correct hvac filter is not something that should be overlooked. The quality of your hvac filter directly impacts how long your life expectancy is the hvac.
You have put your life on the line, especially if you live in a polluted area. In fact, tesla found out that, even with the most conservative numbers living in a polluted city reduces your life expectancy by substantial amounts, so it just happens. Just happens, you know, there's recent events have illustrated the importance of air safety and we have, with the model x, the first uh, the first true hepa, filter in a car so and and why? Why is it important to have a particular filter? Why is important to have a gas filter in the car um? It's because this translates to a real real change in life expectancy. So these these are the most conservative numbers we could find on the internet like the most conservative.

They go way worse than this. This is basically the least bad thing that would happen if you lived in these cities having an effective hepatitis filter in your car is certainly not as important as your home. Most of us spend at most two hours in a car every day, and that's only when there is a long commute time during the wildfires one model x user found that the air quality in his home had a pm 2.5 concentration of 251. As a result, his family literally had to stay inside their car the entire time in order to breathe fresh air elon musk replied to this.

By stating, we will make super efficient home hvac with hepa filters one day after testing the air quality. After this tweet, the model x user found out that his home had a pm 2.5 concentration of 351, whereas his model x had a pm 2.5 concentration of just 17., a tesla home hvac would be much more than increasing your life expectancy. Many people struggle with chronic allergies. While there are many types of allergies, the most common type seasonal allergies can be an annoying problem that distracts people from their work.

One twitter user stated so many people with allergies that suffer chronically. You would change their lives. Truly. Elon replied to this by saying this is a way bigger deal than most people realize.

Tackling allergies would without a doubt, make a tesla home hvac a must-buy item. For many. Not only will the tesla hvac increase your life expectancy, but also solve the problem of allergies. Yet this isn't the only reason why you'll be purchasing a tesla home hvac tesla's mission has always been to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energies.

In order to fulfill this mission, tesla needs to solve the issue of energy being wasted. The main sector needed to reduce wasted energy is the hvac sector. As i mentioned earlier, the average u.s home hvac system uses 46 of the total home energy consumption. Improving the efficiency of hvacs would greatly improve the world's energy supply and, on the side, help us users save some money.

One way tesla will improve the efficiency of its home. Hvac is by taking advantage of the tesla ecosystem, while the number of people with tesla's is still relatively low right now. We all know this number will increase substantially in the future, especially with the release of a 25 000 ev. It has always been tesla's goal to create a smart home with its ecosystem.
Tesla can use its vehicles to see where the user or users are at. For example, if one family has two teslas and both are parked at home, then there is a high chance that the family is at home. On the other hand, if both teslas are not home, then chances are that nobody is home. This can be used in order to find out when to turn on and off the tesla home hvac, that's just the blinking 12., so people just like hell with that, i'm just going to make it this temperature all day.

Long right, you don't have a smart home where, if you're in the room, then it stays cool right yeah. It should predict when you're going to be home, uh and then cool the room. The rooms that you're likely to use with a little bit of intelligence. We're not talking about like genius home here we're just talking like elementary basic stuff um.

You know like if you could hook that into the car like new as you're coming home, like there's no point in cooling, the home, keeping the comb, keeping the home really cool. When you're not there right, but it can tell that you're coming home, it's going to cool it to the right temperature right. You have an app there that works with your solar panels or anything like that. Yeah yeah.

We do in march of 2020 elon expanded on this topic by saying yeah. Pretty much house could talk to car and know when you're expected home, so temperature and humidity would be perfect. Just as you arrive no wasted energy, the idea of having a smart home hvac truly has a lot of potential. Even if a user doesn't have a tesla vehicle, the tesla app could still be used to track where each family member is and have the humidity and temperature ready for each specific room that the family members are in.

Once every family member leaves the home, the tesla home hvac can automatically turn off to save energy. Additionally, tesla also has a unique mode built off of the model y hvac, nicknamed the octovolve. The model wise hvac, combines the cooling and heating system all into one unit. This was done in order to improve the range of the model y by 10 and can be used for the tesla home hvac to improve efficiency.

Overall, there seems to be a lot of ways that a tesla home hvac can save energy. Not surprisingly, tesla's ambitions go further than this. Tesla is known for going beyond the norms of society. Their vehicles are a manifestation of contrarian ideas.

The cyber truck looks like something. Only a six-year-old would have the creativity to create with tesla's hvac. This is no different. This may sound crazy, but what if the tesla hvac could supply your everyday water usage? Elon musk has been thinking about this for a while.
He stated this on twitter could maybe tap. The condensation for water, too, seems odd that hvac systems make pure fresh water and just dump it on the ground. This is an interesting idea during the summer when humidity is at its peak hvacs dump up to 20 gallons of water per day. Now there is a reason why current hvacs don't save this water in a normal hvac water, drips down from a copper pipe down to a condensate pan and then exits through a drain or tube.

The reason why this matters is that when a puddle accumulates inside this drain or tube harmful bacteria begin to grow, in fact, a hotel's air conditioner was actually the cause of the 1976 outbreak of legionnaires disease. Nevertheless, legionella, which is the bacteria that causes legionnaires disease, only grows in large ac systems and not in smaller units. The 1976 outbreak was caused by philadelphia, hotel cooling, tower of ac systems. Fear of legionella has caused some concerns for the water and hvacs, but studies show that the water in home, hvac units is actually drinkable.

I'm sure tesla will come up with an engineering tactic to ensure the cleanliness of tesla's hvac water and will have to see whether or not tesla actually implements this feature now with the company as large as tesla entering the hvac market. It's no surprise that elon's ideas have caught the eyes of other hvac manufacturers. Daikin is one of the leading hvac manufacturers in the world and its executives have had varying opinions about tesla entering the hvac markets. One daiken executive told nikkei asia that tesla's move poses a big threat.

A different daikin executive gave a totally different outlook on tesla entering the hvac market. That executive said we need to think of it as a chance and consider partnering with tesla. Tesla has had many partners in the past. Most famously tesla has partnered with many battery suppliers to increase the company's battery supply partnering with daikin could potentially be a way for tesla to mitigate risk in the hvac sector, while having experienced manufacturers by the company's side.

At the same time, tesla is known for vertically integrating as much as possible into the manufacturing process. So from that perspective, a tesla daikin partnership wouldn't make much sense either way. Daikin knows that tesla is a threat in the hvac space and the company is definitely scared of tesla, potentially disrupting his business. We can see this from the words of the daikin executives, either daikin partners with tesla or gets disrupted, we'll have to see where daikin ends up partnering with one of the disruptors or unwillingly losing market share.

How will they handle the system for those who have pets? You can’t cook the dogs when we are at work!

In the octovalve arrangement in the Model Y and newer Model 3's, you have a heat pump, the evaporator is cold, the condenser is hot. Both transfer the cold or hot to a glycol based liquid. In a home, even in the winter the refrigerator needs to be cold. In the summer the dryer still needs to be hot. The swimming pool may need to be heated or cooled depending on where you live. Current heat pumps waste the cold they produce in winter and or the heat they are creating in summer. What if this could be harnessed?

I don't seen anything disruptive here other than the Tesla name. My HVAC has been able to do all of this for the past 6 years using a Honeywell IAQ thermostat. There have been whole house HEPA filters on the market for years. The water thing is just a gimmick, no practical use. The biggest problem is consumer awareness. ERVs and HRV have been on the market for years however very few houses are build with them. Maybe Tesla needs to build houses and show just how terrible the average home is built.

oh please. tesla cant even make money in energy storage and solar, let alone their main business autos. you bought the BS. the real car companies are coming thick and fast and thank god before musk and his "full self driving" death traps cause any more deaths. i am a former tesla shareholder now suing him due to the fraudulent acquistion of solarcity. you guys need to wake up. musk is a liar, a fraud, and looking like a murderer. wake up!!

pm2.5 is complete nonsense and NO policy decisions should ever be made using it, however im sure 5he Tesla product will be good at the other functions its designed for.

I also want this. Its nice to breathe. I actually got into the habbit of sleeping with a facemask on just because its so much easier to breathe. The ide would never pop up into my head without the pandemic outbreak.

Anyone know if a simple "aircleaner" is effective? I am a student and not a wealthy one so i would hate going for a bad investment.

The question for me would be cost. I spend 3-4k for an AC system for my rental units and each time I buy a house I almost always have to install an AC unit because they are using those window units. If it is 10k then not a chance.

Condensate from A/C is full of bacteria and Condensate from Heating units is so acidic that building codes require a filter before it goes into the sewer system.

On Battery Day they mentioned the need to make more batteries to replace home heating to replace gas home furnaces.
I think they will make a combination HVAC with built in Tesla batteries like a mini Powerwall to run at night and your solar panels for the day and combined hot water tank heater to recycle the HVAC condensation water so no need for a water drain or water waste pump! I'll buy that as I have an old gas water tank and furnace with no nearby drain.

I recently put a down payment on a Tesla cyber truck I have contacted their solar division which I haven't heard back from but they I put a deposit down on that also, curiously when I asked the gentleman about the HVAC systems from the solar division he had no idea what I was talking about. He told me that his division only dealt with the solar systems which I find a little bit ironic if I worked for a corporation like Tesla I'd want to know exactly as much as I could about the company and I've heard about this HVAC system a while back. As far as I'm concerned Elon musk is a genius and I want everything Tesla and I'm trying to turn my 4000 ft ranch House into a net zero situation.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Albert Greuter says:

We would absolutely be interested in a Tesla A/C system. Where we live only wall A/C units are currently allowed which is seriously stupid. Mini-split systems are much more efficient, but I anticipate Tesla A/C being even more efficient and quieter and more attractive. We would love to replace our 4 wall units with one high efficiency system.

This is like the 60's song "In the year 2525 if man is still alive" It leads to people dependant on thier TECH and not them selves… "pasivehause" is the way to go better design with less tech and uses less energy==

Careful with them high efficiency one inch filters, They will absolutely destroy your furnace and shorten its life. If you want to clean your air go with air cleaners not higher MRV rating 1 inch filters. < Hvac tech. He is going to run into most of the issues with retrofitting homes with his HVAC system, but if the energy company he has does Home Energy solution tests that won't be too hard except cost.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Reason246 says:

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Fazio says:

This seems like Tesla isn't going to "disrupt" anything in the residential HVAC market. Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) Heat Pump systems have existed for years that increase or decrease compressor frequency according to demand from the thermostat. This video makes it seem like Tesla is going to slap a HEPA filter into a heat pump indoor air handler (which requires more space and a MUCH larger fan to overcome static pressure drop of the filter) and integrate it with Tesla's own smart home technology. Nothing revolutionary. Not saying that what they are doing is a bad idea, just that it is a crowded market and Tesla isn't offering any major advantages over any other vendor while they will be charging much more than a similar Trane, Samsung, or Carrier split system.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Bisson says:

My main concern with a highly integrated system is if one part of it fails, then I'd lose all of it until repaired. The other issue I have with Tesla products is how they eliminate my choices. If I get a Powerwall, I must be connected to their servers or it doesn't work. If I buy a Tesla car, I have to use their repair facility. 👎
