August CPI came in worse than expected with CPI rising to 8.3% but I think this is actually a good thing. I know it sounds crazy but if you give me a few minutes I will show you why this is absolutely the case.

Surely you need to look at the inflation number for the last month to understand what's going on!? It was 0.1% with the previous being 0%. The 8.3% figure is because the 1% months were march, may, June, so don't fall off until next year. However the direction of travel is low inflation month on month. This is surely a good thing!!!

Gold is going down and eur is going down. So why prices are going up the reason is when i wanna sell something to us market then now i get 10% less in euros but my input prices are 10% higher so i rise price 20% and inflation rises. Adding .75 does another eur.usd change so we end between .90-.95. That has impact on euro zone stock market that will sell fast and they open positions in us stock market. I have eur.usd position opel like lots of rtail traders from eu have and because of that all investments to us market in last year have 10% bonus so when rising .75 another 10% is coming

Antibiotic analogy (virus mistake aside 🙂) is a good one. This is going to take at least 4 more hikes until the deflationary economic macros take the place of QT and higher cost of debt.

The vast increase cost of food and energy at a global level is going to suck huge amount of discretionary spending. This will impact all markets and inflows into capital spending.

Stock market will recover in November 2024 when Biden is out.

How high should interest rates be long term to prevent high inflation from coming back?

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars LUIGI says:

The Fed has been late for the past 2 years. Not sure why you are so certain they are acting timely right now. You do realize there is a lag after rates are raised before it takes effect, right? Oh, I forgot, you are smarter than not only Cathy, but also Elon Musk. Anyone who speaks in certainty about macroeconomics sounds foolish. Nice clickbait video Bill Ackman.

interesting, but Brandon is not really aware of all these subtleties and will simply spend for votes right up until Election night. Then he will hope a young aide will be able to show him the way from the podium. Biden-Powell is not Trump-Powell.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars D P says:

Couldn't agree more. The cycle of rate hike medication must be completely to avoid becoming Turkey. Hope fed feels like they have enough political cover to do what is necessary.

Of course Cathy Wood wants the Feds to slow down. Her ETF's are losing her investors tons of money and they might run and never return again.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars neveralwayseverr says:

Tom, you failed today. Market dumped big time today because Fed mainly looks at core CPI and that came in hot. Did you forget that?

Biden will simply say inflation is coming down. The democrats don't live in reality, so they will just lie and say what they want. Just like they lie and make up stories about Jan 6th. lol
