1. Shop around
It is important to make sure you are not applying just for any credit cards! Not every credit card is a credit card that is beneficial!
2. Auto payment
Auto payment is crucial for me with credit cards. The more credit cards you get, the more challenging it will be to remember everything! Auto pay will avoid late fees and negative credit reporting.
3. Freeze your credit
Freezing your credit is the easiest way you can prevent identify theft and it is also free! You can easily freeze and unfreeze your credit within minutes!
4. First credit card deposit
Secured credit cards are my favorite method for building credit and it may require a deposit! Remember that it is an investment for your future.
5. Great credit takes time
It may sound cliche but great credit is a marathon not a race! Practice patience and be comfortable with knowing you may make mistakes.

All right, so i know the scenery is a little bit different, but i got tired of being in a house. So if you like nature good, if you don't like nature, hopefully you like the content, because that's what it's all about more than the background. So so today's video is going to be about five things that i wish i knew before, starting my credit journey so yeah this is for beginners, but also, if you're, not a beginner, you can still watch this video i'll, probably learn some new things and guys. This is not every tip, but these are some of the things that i think are really important.

These are five things: let's get right into the video, so number one is going to be shop around. Yes, we want to get whatever credit card is willing to give us some credit, but we need to shop around so again. Credit one is not a bank that i would do business with. They take advantage of you with annual fees to do a limit increase.

They charge money um they charge, i think uh they charge too many fees and if we don't know any better, we're going to go to them because they're willing to give us a credit card, no there's better credit cards out there like discover capital, one, possibly u.s Bank probably has the best secured credit card out there, tied with the discover it secured credit card things like that. So when we're going to get our first credit card, we need to shop around. Just because it looks good on paper does not mean that it is going to be the best thing for you, so shop around make sure it makes sense for you for your pocket. You can get credit out here and establish credit for free as far as like no annual fees and all that stuff, so make sure it makes sense.

Number two is auto. Payment is your best friend. I use auto payment as a, if i forget so like. If i'm out on vacation - and i forget to make my regular payments like i make my payments by myself - auto payment saves me just in case, i forget: it'll, take the minimum payment and at least pay that.

So when i remember i can make the full payment, um and it'll save you a lot of money. Late fees can be anywhere from like 20 to 40 or 50. Depending on what bank it is. So it can save you so much money.

Auto payment is your best friend i used to sell. I used to tell myself no um, i'm good. I got everything on a spreadsheet. I got everything on my phone, i'm getting older.

Now, i'm starting to forget things so keep things on auto payment and again just have it set up for like the minimum payment. That way, you know you're not surprised, but when you do remember you don't have a late fee and you don't have a 30 day late on your credit report. It's not good. That's number, two number three is going to be freeze.

Your credit put a credit freeze on your credit report. It is free, you can do them individually with each credit bureau. I have a video right here where you can learn more about it, but credit freezes are important. There have been a bunch of data breaches in the last couple years that i've been a part of and without a credit freeze i would be screwed okay, and i was very lucky that my social security number and credit card information wasn't there, but still um.
I gave myself more stress than i could have, if only i knew credit freeze existed at that point. So, yes, credit freezes to check it out. It costs no money to do it and what a credit freeze is pretty much is your credit is frozen until you decide to apply for a credit card, you have to unfreeze it and they give you like a security pin, and you keep that to yourself and As long as no one has that pin there's no way possible unless they have your pin that your credit is ran, and it's really really really easy to freeze. It's really really easy to unfreeze.

It takes me. Maybe five minutes tops to freeze and unfreeze. You can do it on your phone. You can call in whatever you want to do so.

That's tip number three make sure your credit is frozen when you are not doing anything as far as trying to get a house a credit card, a car to prevent unwanted identity fraud. Number four is that your first credit card may require a deposit, and what i mean by that is a secure credit card. It was my way of doing things. It's still my favorite way of doing things than any of these new products out here.

Secure credit cards old-fashioned, but it gets the job done, it's a good investment. So what i had to do - and i wish i knew this - i was applying for a bunch of credit cards. I was the one like. I told you in the beginning of the video trying to take any credit card that i saw online and i was doing so many inquiries i probably had maybe like 10 inquiries and they were all denied for no credit for not having any credit.

Even the student credit cards, or even the people who don't have good credit type credit cards, i could credit one declined me and all that stuff so and then thank goodness they did, but um yeah make sure you know that it's probably gon na require a deposit For people like you and i who maybe have no credit or maybe damage credit or little to no credit right so take 200 300 go to discover, go to capital one and give them. You know three hundred dollars, they'll put in a savings account and you have you have yourself a credit card again. I got more videos and all that stuff right here, so not gon na get too much into it, but yeah. That's tip number four.

Your first credit card may require a deposit, but you get the money back most of the time. It is a great investment for your future. Now this one may be cliche or oh, my god, but listen credit takes patience. Great credit takes patience.

Bad credit is quick. Okay, so you can just think about that one more time. Great credit takes patience. It takes a while to build up good things, but it's easy to mess up some.

I can't i can't say the word that i was going to say, but it's easy to mess things up, but it's hard and it takes patience to kind of build on good things, sometimes so. Keep that in mind great credit is a marathon. It is not a race so for the ones who are like looking up how to get a 800 credit score in 20 days 30 days, it's not possible most of the time. Just keep that in your mind, i hope you guys enjoyed the video again different background.
