This is a clip from an older video filmed a few months ago with Sebastian about making money and the happiness that follows…or doesn’t follow. Enjoy! Add me on Snapchat/Instagram: GPStephan

The Real Estate Agent Academy: Learn how to start and grow your career as a Real Estate Agent to a Six-Figure Income, how to best build your network of clients, expand into luxury markets, and the exact steps I’ve used to grow my business from $0 to over $120 million in sales: https://goo.gl/UFpi4c

Much of this can be contributed to The Hedonic Treadmill, which where one’s happiness level is eventually reset back to their initial baseline after the excitement of something new wears off. This is why it’s easy to be excited about buying a new item, or getting a raise, but then a few months later, it just seems like the new normal and nothing has really changed. Then it takes even MORE to get the same excitement, to which then the same happens - you eventually return to baseline.
What I’ve found is that, while money and having a high income DOES make life substantially “easier” in certain aspects, it doesn’t by itself contribute to becoming a happier person. In the end, happiness is really just a state of mind - and tying your success to your happiness is a precarious place to be. The reason why is that when this happens, you don’t control your happiness; external factors do. And this means you become reliant on making a certain amount of income, having certain objects, or taking on an identity to be “happy.” And when these don’t fall into place, you’re lost. So detaching money from happiness ultimately just ends up making you a happier person…I think? 😛

Everyone knows money doesn't buy happiness, but everyone wants to find out for themselves
This would make me really happy
Such a great convo.
This is very enlightening
Graham, your channel and others like Sebastian’s channel have been a huge influence to me! I have started my new Channel called The Daily Grind. I will be starting a daily vlog in the next month. It will be about how finance and income. In one year I will show how I went from being a 470 credit score work jobs I hate to being a millionaire. I hope at the end of that one year I can meet you and tell you my story.
Lol this video is very interesting. I’m actually a junior in college going after my degree in psychology and there have been numerous experiments to test what we call happiness. In fact, most of these experiments support the idea of personal growth being one of the main things that makes us happy as people. Whether it be earning more money or getting that new car you wanted, it all makes you happy for around 3-6 months until it becomes normalized in your life. Then one could infer that the beauty of having workers that work 9-5 and giving them a chance for an annual raise(even if it’s just like 50 cents to a dollar) is that it provides them a happiness boost they need to be content with their lives. And If they are content then they won’t be looking for a new job.
great video. lake comparison vs ocean comparison when it comes to our self esteem
I love this story. More power to him…one of the keys to happiness os helping people. Money makes that easier!
This could have been a 25 min video
Well I think that Graham for some reason doesn’t want to get deep
My bank account is negative 75 and I’m still happy cause I was able to get my car note paid and I know that I’m taking the steps to change this check to check cycle. Thanks for making this video about not attaching who you are to the amount of money you make!
Comes down to the hedonic treadmill. Going up or down, your happiness will reset to a new norm.
In Jamaica $80,000-$100,000 is pay for a MONTH for a college graduate 🙃 that’s like $750-$950 USD 💀💀💀💀💀
i just don't get it how some people are willing to wait 2-3 weeks to get their product, while you can get it on amazon the same or next day.. maybe it's working now, but it has no future.
I'll worry about how happy I am when I get to 60k a month lol.
What would you think of posting a fake rental listing on craigslist and getting rental leads by telling them it's not available anymore and help them find another rental
As I began to see little 'successes' in my entrepreneurial journey, I was confused because they in and of themselves didn't make me happy. I'm starting to learn that you cant let milestones drive your happiness or else once you hit one you'll always be looking to hit the next one and will never be happy. You have to learn to find happiness in every day for just being able to grow as a person. It's definitely a tough mental shift and I think there is a need for mental health to be talked about more in the entrepreneurial community.
Thank you so much for the amazing content as always!
Graham I'd love to see a video on money and dating/relationships! What're your experiences with dating, past girlfriends and money spending habits related to that. Thanks!
Growth and connection! You hit it on the nail Sebastian. That's where happyness is created.
60k a month and I will move mountains
Graham PLEASE make a podcast
It's free real estate.
What is your opinion on house flipping

A wise man once said, Money can't buy you happiness, but it can allow you to rent the shit out of it!

Hey guys! Just an FYI, this was filmed a few months ago and was an extra clip from when I had Sebastian on my channel – this portion became too long to include in the original video, but I felt it would be good on its own, so I’m posting it now. Just been too slammed recently to film much this week, I’m in two escrows right now – one closing Friday, one hopefully closing the week after, so I should hopefully have a little more time later this week once work gets a little quieter!
