Hey everyone welcome to my channel today. I have a quick story of everybody, a little bit different wanted to just tell you. You know my recent experience with the marriott chain after the SPG marriott merger and why, I think, having Marriott go to lead status or even platinum status as a benefit. I have the gold elite status, so I know this is what they want.

I mean I'm talking about. This is the one that I put in the title of the video. I want to tell you my recent experience as to why it is so important to have this perk. If you were a traveler, it is very important to have Hilton gold, or at least Marriott gold or both of them, and you can easily get these by having a credit card right in your pocket.

Let's go right into the video all right so like I was Sam, it is really important when you are a traveler, that you have some type of status when it comes to flying anyway, your travels or that's flying or you're, driving with rental cars or training or Whatever you do, but it's really important when you're traveling, because you obviously are probably staying in hotels or maybe Airbnb s, most of the time. Probably hotels really really important to have Hotel status, the two biggest names you could think of. Obviously, off the top of your head are Hilton and Marriott, which is now a Marriott SPG ritz-carlton all into one Rewards port, and then you have Hilton, I still favorite Hilton a little bit more, but Marriott is really good as well. Now you get gold elite status for Marriott with the Amex platinum card.

Because does this baby right here and you also get Hilton gold status with this card? You don't have to do anything. You don't have to even stay nights. You just automatically get it still. A very awesome perk and here's a story, so let's get right into the story.

So it is. You know the night before I'm going back home, I'm at a hotel and I booked this hotel through a third-party vendor. Okay now this does not happen every time, but it is very important to know you can still get your comps, your comps and what that means is complimentary things, gifts, status, upgrades, etc. So I'm in a Marriott hotel, I'm at a renaissance, hotel and right near one of the airports and I'm about to leave to come back home.

So that's tomorrow morning. So what I did was I booked a very cheap rate. I didn't want to pay the hotel directly because that rate was a little bit higher. I just wanted to take the hit myself just forget about it: I'll pay for the hotel room and hopefully get an upgrade very busy time of the year right after the holidays and all that stuff.

So I'm going back home and what made sense to me was just a book through the third party, but when I got there it's always really important to build a rapport. You know not just to get anything nice out of people, but because you know you know, your end goal is to get things out of it too. So you want to be nice, you want to be you know, laughing and joking with them accent know how their day was because again, their work holiday stress with a gentleman, a thousand different personalities. Every time somebody comes and said, our debts to speak to them, and I something you guys we need to UM.

You know just keep in mind. You know a thousand different personalities every day, so they really appreciate when you have somebody who is just calm mellow. Whatever happens happens and you just joking when I'm having fun so I was joking with a young man talking to him again, I booked it directly through a third party, so there is no access to anything when you book to a third party for any chain. You kind of just get a basic room and that's it at the end of the conversation.

You know I'm joking with him laughing with them, because we had a crazy customer prior. So I'm laughing him about the crazy customer. I asked him hey you know. Am I able to at least get some points for it, since I am a Marriott remember, he said yeah sure.

Would you Marriott number. I gave him a Marriott card. He saw that I was a good elite member. He said thanks so much for being an elite member.

You know the fancy fancies. Thank you so much from Marriott and without me even asking, because I didn't expect anything from him because I figured it was around the holidays is very busy. He came up to me. He was like look.

I gave you the complimentary lounge access which I'll show you in this video. How awesome that is, and he also gave me a room on the top floor. Okay and the room is pretty standard, but, to be honest with you, the closet is, I mean the from the presentation of the door. The closet looks pretty big, but when you open the closet doors not too big now the bathroom is a pretty nice size bathroom.

This is just a regular king room. The size of the bathroom is really nice. I really like the presentation of the hotel, looks very nice and clean so pretty nice, and then we get into the bedroom again, just a regular, regular, regular room and the got the TV. It was really awesome and I'll show you the video right after I show you this one, you get you see, the cheese is on the table with the crackers and a couple of waters, and I know I wasn't expecting that so I brought my own water as You can see, but it's two waters right there, cheese and I got all that from the room from the complimentary.

I got a gun club, lounge access. You get a key to that. It's pretty awesome. So next video is the club lounge access and just you know just - has welcome and pretty much free food and it opens at 6:00 a.m.

and it closes at 9:00 p.m. so I was really excited about that again. He didn't have to do this, but here's another. Here's a reason why it's important to be nice and to have status the food was awesome.

I only did the cheese and crackers eight prior because I was not expecting this, but just to know if I got hungry before 9:00 p.m. which is kind of late. But if I did, because we were young, we do this um, I can go up there and eat really fast and it's free. The only thing that was not free was two drinks, but that was the first thing I saw so all the drinks and I accident the other drinks free any set-off.

Fortunately, not you know, everybody acts that and I'm just you know, pulling some strings, but again just being nice to everybody and there it is men. There is the the perk of being a Marriott gold elite member again you're not going to get this treatment every time. As far as upgrades, sometimes they may just not have it sometimes they may not be in the mood. Sometimes they just don't do it.

Typically, they only give the club lounge access to platinum members or, if you pay for it, okay, so again be nice. If you want to learn how to get it, upgrade one always be nice, you can act if you want to, but nine times out of ten, I don't acts. I just kind of just go with the flow, because I know about book to a third party. I'm just you know, that's that's this, that's the thing you're giving up.

You know, that's the thing you're giving up you're, not gon na get that upgrade and all that stuff. But this time I worked out for me. Let me know the times what works out for you. Let me know if you got any questions or if you have any tricks that I can know that I can own a future to use for Hilton and Marriott to always get access or to you know, because you know this doesn't really happen off key.
