Video Tips to Make Yourself the Authority Figure in Your Market
If there’s one takeaway from today’s Tom Ferry Podcast Experience video roundtable, it’s this:
The only way to get better at video is to start, put them out there and do better next time.
That’s how you learn. But if you’re not even trying, you’ll never grow and you’ll miss out on massive exposure possible through video marketing.
So I assembled four video Rockstars – Katie Day of Houston, TX, Steven Kim of Toronto, ON, Erica Wolfe of Palm Beach County, FL, and David Caldwell from the suburbs of Portland, OR – for today’s episode, and what I love about these four is that they all do very different things with video. Which, in itself, makes a great point – be your authentic self on video and you will succeed!
Watch or listen for their insightful tips and tricks, plus a list of “must see” videos from some of our industry’s best.

So so this is going to be one of those fun podcasts we're going to transition. Now i want to talk marketing and i want to talk video, so i'm going to have these three hand bones step up. Oh we're doing it all together. Yeah like it would be great, no idea how many people it's gon na, be it's gon na.

Be super fun. Yes, yes, yes, yes, stephen come over here, stephen! No! Well, stephen and courtney are kind of the same height. All right, stephen go and courtney come here. Little here, if you want to stand on this okay, david david - yes all right, so this is uh like the second.

This is like you basically just went to the b side right now, this podcast, i'm a big record, fan um. So we're going to the b side. Now you are the a side baby. Yes, yes right! Yes, okay! So so here's the thing.

If you two talk from over here, it's like the first time i saw social distortion. Remember mike ness, i don't know, that's all we heard the whole time someone like finally pinned him down like jeff mays yeah, so you got to talk into the microphone when you want to say something so very quick. Let's go around the room, tell them who you are where you're from stephen king toronto, ontario canada. What's up with the notorious notorious we're rebranding our team along the lines of the notorious b.i.g? Yes skg, we want to stay current with the time.

Oh, i love that. I like it, he wants to be hit at times. I want to be his yes, you and i think it's the same exact thing: we're going to come back to that in a minute: okay, uh, the wolf, the wolf, okay, tell them who you are where you're from, and why do they call you the wolf, i'm Erica wolfe um. They call me wolf of real estate because i married my husband for his last name.

Yes, i'm kidding i'm kidding, but my maiden name wasn't good, but um yeah. I went to a lot of homes to make videos. Oh jupiter florida. Thank you palm beach county.

Yes, it is on the southeast side of florida. You just sounded like every girl. I've ever met from florida, it's from palm beach county and she even did like the perfect hat all right, uh dc. Welcome back to the podcast yeah, i'm david caldwell, i'm from the suburbs of portland oregon.

It's hard, it's hard to claim portland right now. Sometimes, yes, yes, we understand, but you do it, you do it well and you crush you crush the stage this year at the summit. Thank you for that right. So let's talk uh video marketing and what i want to know is worst video.

You ever shot best. Video you ever shot and why worst and best, and why, who would like to go first, you could do best. First to start i'll, do worse, let's go stevie kim. I want to hear microphone in the end of the mic, because i because i made it you're the worst, but i did a market update video and i just regurgitated the mark.

The board stats. Oh yes, number one! Yes, yes! Yes, you know what? Yes, my mentor! Steve, whatever one - and it was an 11 minute facebook - video - yes now we look at that. We laugh it like that's crazy, goodness, yes and organically, within the first day, got a thousand views yeah, and this was years ago. Yes, yes, remember those days right, you didn't have to pay to get a thousand views.
Yes, poor lighting, no microphone yeah in my office with uh whiteboards yeah, any whiteboards that i bought from the dollar store, because i didn't want to spend a lot of money right. So the stats that i actually put on the board you weren't even legible yeah - you couldn't read them yeah worst video ever yeah, but that was the starting point. Yeah staying consistent with a market updated show every single saturday for three years running. I love that there.

I love that that's cool, okay, that's a good worst! Video! Okay who's got a worse video than that. What's your best one though uh we did a charlie chaplin listing video, it was a listing video. It was in black and white and it was quiet. No words.

Anything and it actually got picked up at one of the magazines in toronto. Nice, oh revolutionary, like this whole, when when was that video uh, it was back in may it was a condo in toronto because everything's condos yeah and it was a chocolate. It was black and white and i'm a huge fan of charlie chaplin. I love love, love, charlie chop and i was like you know what let's do it, then the team was like yeah, but it's black and white and i'm like yeah, but who cares right? It'll? Be different and charlie chaplin was done in black and white and i'm korean and it's a charlie chaplin, video by a korean dude and that doesn't make any sense whatsoever yeah.

What about the tick tock, where you showed how you open the doors magically? Oh, that was like that's the first like viral video. I was like you know what i want to do this, because i saw someone opening doors and this was like from instagram. Somebody pulled this up, not you. You tell the story.

They're charging, yes, and so i was like hey. I told my marketing assistant, i'm like just film. My ball bald head as i'm on the ground, pushing doors open. Oh, i was like that was a legendary video yeah.

I was like whoa and she's like hey, you just got a hundred thousand views in the first 30 minutes. I was like what right what's that now. It's like two points, but this time we're like it's just one like everyone sees the doors opening magically, but it showed you lying on the ground and they actually went down to show like this is how the magic doors open in the comments wait. I can see your bald head he's like that was the idea ryan.

You got that! That's it! It's just that! Look at you and there's like 54 000 in the background yeah, how doors magically open in real estate tours and there i am that - is so good. What a good looking head thanks tom bald is beautiful, love it man best video ever all right, so worst, video, ever okay, anyone that i'm dancing in or singing would easily be the horse, and my videographer has banned me from both from not now on. Like two years ago that happened, were you like elaine from seinfeld? I never watched it, but probably worse. But yes, but you know the reference, because someone clearly said elaine from seinfeld yeah like please.
Don't ever do that again, so i really try hard not to, even though i think i'm good at it, but i'm not um, but give us an example like sing, something real, quick. No, i was thinking like you could dance or sing. I mean you hear my voice talking. Just imagine it singing, you know i would love it.

Yes, um! No, so i'm gon na say my worst video and it's the reason i'm actually known it's the naked video. Okay, let's see, can we pull that out? It's not the worst, remember the storytelling yeah. It was the video. It was the second time i was naked yeah.

Do you want to hear more? I was good stephen. You have one too, so i'm i just like love laughing, so i did a naked home tour. Yes, my community and my audience loved it. The real estate community hated it that's when you know you've won the recently.

A compass agent got fired. Yes right, yes, so i was the first i'm the og of the naked home tour. So is the video still up? Yeah like how how naked is naked, i mean i was wearing a tan dress and we just edited like yeah yeah yeah, okay, so you weren't, like nude nude. You were in like a like a like a new suit, yeah right yeah.

It was an ugly house. So what do you do when you have an ugly listing? You go naked and, as everyone knows, okay? Well, that's good! It's all like you know, buzzy out, like you really can't see it, but it's implied okay, that that definitely qualifies so why i'm saying it's! My worst is um because i feel like i have such great videos now right compared to that. That really like propelled me into the real estate video world video, so what uh? What was the best video then um? Probably my welcome to jupiter tell us about that um. It is showing my favorite places in jupiter and it's actually all local native spots.

Instead of the commercialized areas that it's become in the last decade, right um, but yeah, i probably also have made the most money off that video right like give us context like how many views on that one on the jupiter one um gosh, probably like twenty thousand. Not that many twenty thousand is a lot of people really. I paid them yeah right, yeah, twenty thousand there's someone watching right now going like i have like 11 views and 10 of them are my mother like trying to add up instagram facebook youtube like organically, not paid ads yep, it's probably around 20.. I already know the next question: i'm gon na ask okay, so you give us your worst and best um cat lady you're going next.

My worst video is like any video. I do myself. I now have a videographer that does pretty much all of our videos. So those would be the best no uh.
My best performing video is actually a really uh bad pros and cons. Video on youtube: oh yeah, 150. 000, something like it has yeah, but like i shot it on my phone, it's slightly blurry yeah and like it's terrible, but it has brought us a lot of business so, like worst quality, one of the worst qualities like you could also go back to 2016 youtube And see like me doing property tours on my cell phone yeah um, but yeah i mean like everything now is like a lot higher quality, because we've got yeah my boy andy over here, yeah yeah yeah. But what's your best like that? You think the best is that pros and cons like is that your best work, no or just your best views as far as as far as money coming in and deals coming in yeah yeah.

Like i don't know, i don't. I don't think that i'm like i put out a lot of content but, like i don't think that i have like super awesome. Videos like. I think that, like we do a really good job at what we do but, like i don't have like epic, like charlie chaplin, yeah, black and white, i'm not that great.

I'm not that creative, like i come with ideas and then like andy, will like make them happen, but like i'm not like getting naked or you know doing skits on video generally, i don't even know where to go with that all right, so that got weird real Fast real fast, but i like it, i like it: okay, courtney, best and worst worst and best suit video. You do a lot of reels. I do a lot of reels but um. I have like some videos on youtube, but i don't think they're bad.

Let's talk, reels um, i don't. I don't think some of my rules are bad you're. So vain! You probably think these reels are about you. I am so old.

These are the songs that i grew up with by the way, but i don't think they're bad if they were, i wouldn't put them out there. Okay, i'm have a totally different direction on that, because i have so many horrible videos, but it is a collection of my work yeah and you actually see my art progress as you were sort of describing from you know, like my probably stupidest video was in chicago And i put a flip video camera on like a mailbox, because i knew i had to like get something put it into my laptop and somehow email it right or i i think i actually could still upload this yeah. He really does type like that. She knows.

I can type wicked fast with my thumbs, but if i'm actually typing it's horrible - and i remember like doing the video and the wind is just like just ripping you couldn't hear anything i said, and i still published it it's on my youtube channel. It's just like one day, i'm going to look back on this like your worst videos, people, even if you put it out there, they won't see it because it sucks, but you have to put it out there and get better and eventually they all become good videos. Exactly have you guys, okay, so tell me, you've all watched the beatles uh new deal on apple plus. He can't get anyone but brandon.
I hate all of you uh. You should and here's why you see these geniuses, like all of you right in this case you got paul and john and they're literally. They had like two or three weeks to write 14 songs and then sing them live right up on like this building in london, and so it's the whole documentary of that experience. It was really kind of the end of the beatles, but what's so beautiful is watching them just jam on songs that we would all sing? Well, maybe i would sing and know, and none of you would younglings.

I know the beatles. Okay, well because you're, a music guy too okay! So so, but watching it was just horrible right like just trying to figure it out, which is your point like you just need to put out more content and you will figure it out and then you're on stage and bam. You have that moment, but i also think when you start thinking they're bad, then you're going to be like. Oh, these are all bad.

These are bad. These are bad and just put yourself in that mindset right like i put it out and i'm like that's a great video, but i could look back at him like cringe, but i'm not gon na right. You know tell myself that no no, but every person thinks that their videos suck when they start it's just everybody does. But there is, you just said you did a really bad one, i'm incredible on video every day.

Yes, every person thinks that everyone is like. I could never put myself on video. I could never do it. So when you do put yourself on video, you become like an authority figure super quickly, absolutely super quickly to your public, because they are thinking i could never.

I could never so again, even if it is a horrible video, they still think you're superior to them. Just because you did that christophe was here and we did a podcast and he said the same exact. He said 11 years ago, people 11 years ago. He was doing drive communities with his phone, probably a flip video camera.

At the time we were talking he's like i still get come, let's meet calls from that stuff. They're, like you know, humble hill is better than anybody else on a video that he shot 10 or 11 years ago right like so. Your video like coming to jupiter. It's the same kind of concept: right, yep, okay, worst video best, video uh, the one that came to mind, because i i sort of have the frame of mind like every video there's room for improvement, but i i've adopted this body of work mentality where right i, Like to see how it all goes together and i look at it as a library of content um, so i don't really have a best video picked out, but worst video was.

You asked me like a couple of years ago to do a tom ferry show and i was about to leave town for a vacation, but you needed one quick. So i was like i'm gon na, do it i recorded it, but i was literally getting ready to go in the car and drive off to the beach with my family. So it was a little bit rushed um, and then i gave the footage over without reviewing it, and i realized the camera was super glitchy and i was really unhappy with the the setup and the equipment of it. I thought the content was good and i thought my setup kind of ruined it a little bit uh.
My team was frustrated by the fact you said. Welcome to jason pantana show yeah. I totally totally bought. Thank you thank you uh.

So so i went out and i got home. I was like i'm buying gear, so i bought some equipment and i was like you know what i was like. I'm gon na commit to this yeah um. I invest in things that i think are worth investing in.

So i'm not encouraging we're gon na go blow ridiculous sums of money for many an iphone could be sufficient, but i think you have to know who you are and what your goals are around video, and so i was like i'm doing this right. So i turned my downstairs office into a full video recording studio and i was like i'm committed and you know my videos. I had a meeting with my editor the other day and i was like here's what i think i need to improve on, but i was watching some videos i did from a year ago, and i was like boy i was like. I can definitely see a difference.

I definitely see progress being made and you're never going to realize that potential until you start messing up messing up trying your best trying your best and then pushing the envelope with every successive try. So that's it! That's my worst yeah dc worst worst video worst video best video. We did uh, you might wan na, go a little closer me, stephen kim and katie, and some folks dollar home tour like video. Oh i about, we did other wasn't invited in the million dollars.

I did the 500k well i'll. Pretend like you're, welcome to houston. I just remember, i remember, filming it and being so mad because it was so hot and i had to catch a key, and i was like on my skateboard and i caught the key, but then the rest of the video. I was just pissed the whole time because it was just hot and painful, and the sun was in my eyes, and i just i can't you and i have skin - that's really good for some.

Oh, my god. I hate this and then um. That's why you live in portland, right, yeah right right recently, we just did a new video, that's my favorite that we've shot yeah! That's just like me and one of the gals on my team. Talking about how much we love a house and it's kind of like architectural digest style video, it's the first like video, we've gone in and shot where, like we had literally no script and we're like we're just gon na go in and we're just gon na talk And i just had my videographer film us and edit it and it's great yeah.

You know it's the best one we've done and we've gotten great feedback about it and um. But again, it's just that that journey from like every video that i'm in i have like total resting face, except for that just your face yeah. It might just be my face. It's just your face.
Uh heads up yeah, but i just who just said that to you by the way i know katie day, yeah, look at her all smiling now yeah, but i love i love. I love everyone, but i you know the rest of them are just like. Whatever you know - and i wouldn't consider myself - i get lumps sometimes as a video guy, but i wouldn't consider myself one so it's nice to be here. Look at my my coaching client shaking your head.

We're kicking him out of the mastermind. Then he can't he can't come tomorrow, no rookies, he has good ideas on them, but he is a data guy. But you know what is great. There's like two double butts right yeah.

She negated both those points, i'm bad at compliments, so i'm really trying. I thought you know oh yeah uh, but what is great about video too, in the same way with like katie as well, is they're authentic to who they are right, like they're, not gon na go. Do the funny video they're, not gon na go, do something that they're, not i'm not being mean to you. Don't look at me like that, i'm just saying you act your personality and it reflects so when people meet you in person, they know what they're gon na get right.

I'm gon na cuss, i'm gon na, say some weird things as we're walking through our house and i'm gon na judge a lot of windows, and but they know that by the content that i put out, are you a window? Judger yeah i hate drapes and, like ugly blinds, drives me crazy and there's a lot of that in south florida. My buddy uh runs three day blinds. We should get you guys connected yeah. We should yes, i could save the blinds in jupiter.

That would be awesome. Forget who to vote for save the blood, get some lawn signs. Okay, i'm gon na make an introduction. You actually could be his next influencer.

That could be really good. I love that yeah. I asked him once i'm like: what's the addressable market, for your business, how many windows are there in the world yeah? Oh, my gosh, i was like. Oh that's a good business.

Okay, so my i think my best video was the last video i shot all right. Coach tell us more about that. I didn't it's just it's the one i'm doing right now, like i just i love every like every single one of them has something that, like i get excited about like i don't watch my content, but i know it when i'm like when i'm like this. This feeling that i have right now like this is this is the best for me.

That's it. Yes that was so deep. That's so deep, not even know yoda tom perry, all right, so so, let's go different direction, who, amongst all of our peers, shot a video that you were like damn. That was a good video.

I have one: let's hear it: okay, um, it was tim, macy and chi and they used my videographer because they said i wasn't allowed to use him at a little like video, retreat thing yeah and it's about agents using video yeah and it is hilarious and it Is all-time favorite video, so we're going to i'm not in it yeah? Where do they find it um? They came up with it. We had an hour and a half, it was a challenge amongst video agents and we had an hour and a half to come up with a concept um and each it was three different groups that video was actually probably my worst, the one i put out that Time but um they had an hour and a half and between five i think there was five or six people in the video. I know i'm just you've, seen it five or six people that were in it and i guess between all of them they came up with it. They had to use the house and everything that was in it.
I love it, but what made it the best yeah? It was hilarious, yeah like what made it well, so she is walking around and no one can see him because he's an agent who doesn't use video so in the house, like people, are ignoring him. Everyone saying hi to everyone else and um i mean offering food to other people. They won't feed him um, so it was basically ignoring it and my videographer's girlfriend was there and at the end they walk on the dock and she has a glass of wine and she goes. They can't see you huh and he goes yeah and she's like well.

They can't see me either it's because i don't use video or something like that and that's my favorite video, that's cool. Okay. It was a really good video, yeah yeah, all right so who else who's who's someone you want to give a shout out to ben black. Yes, yeah, i wouldn't say like a specific video, but i like pretty much everything he's doing and he's a great guy and he has great listing videos and he's like every once, while he'll sprinkle him like an educational video for agents and then he's doing market update Videos and he's doing he's doing everything i just like everything he's putting out he's such a super realtor.

Have you have you asked him the origin story of when he started doing videos? No, you need to ask him. You were there his background. He was so obvious to do it so like. I don't want to tell his story for him, but he has roots act like then.

This is beverly hills, super realtor! Yes, no he's he's done. Stand-Up comedy he's been an actor he's. Just his chops are unbelievable right and he was missing an opportunity. So yes, yeah totally yeah.

That's great great! I agree all right. I would say listing videos, brad mcallen, oh for sure why you got to steal my uh thunder: oh macy, yeah uh, no, but brad mccallum, uh storyteller man storyteller his creativity. The cinematography is unparalleled. How about the video with his kids standing in front of the the condo and he's like like you, have to? Oh, it's so good! We need to like hey, hey brian.

His kids are super. We need to link up all of these either on my youtube channel or somehow, wherever just link it up yeah whatever. That means such an exceptional story, though he does like to talk about like a 17-minute listing video right that you actually stay engaged with right right. That's his energy yeah, totally his energy.
I pointed this out to a couple people like he moves different than most people. He exaggerates every every movement, yeah yeah, but he's kind of taken on that whole like youtube, like the youtuber thing, if you watch youtubers they're very, like exaggerated, he kind of does that animated one i mean all of his stuff is from following youtubers right. He doesn't go to, he doesn't go so yeah exactly. He doesn't go to real estate videos and like get inspiration from that.

He gets it from youtubers and yeah maple syrup. So right and maple syrup and timmy yeah. Where do you get the good coffee, tammy hortons? Starbucks his wife is shout out, though yeah she is the star, not an agent and he's like hey. I got ta make a video, no one's gon na watch it.

If it's just me, so will you be in it, and she said yes and now, every time she has to be in the video she's very nice by the way she is yes, yes, yes, yes, okay, who do you got? Who do you want to give a shout out to um? Well so steve kind of stole what i was going to say with the brad thing, but i think one of brad's videos not to like just make this a whole brand fest. But one of his videos that i love is, he did like a whole cocktail party yeah. I have so bradfast 2021, like in my head right now, like he's like so he's gon na, be so upset that he missed this because he uh misbooked his flight, but he'll be here tonight, but um yeah. So he did a whole cocktail party and like had basically the videographer, go through the house and like follow the people around and it's just like it's pretty badass yeah yeah yeah.

It's awesome, jason! You got one. I got a bunch um, okay, so a couple one. Everything glenda baker's, been doing over the past year, absolutely worth acknowledging um. She has become literally a celebrity on tick tock with her growth.

It's been incredible um i was thinking of chris benjamin because i've just seen so much uh, so much just unbelievable creativity. Coming out. Oh, my god yeah. So so we've been teaching it.

We call it goofs and spoofs as an example, and i just keep his video one after the next is his last name, not benjamini, then you mean, i think he can totally like. Okay, his mom has been a client like i've known her did. I say it wrong. Sorry, chris yeah, so no i just wanted to.

I was just like. No because i was thinking i have been calling his mom by the wrong name for 20 years. So what that means is i've been calling him by the wrong name possibly, but for a shorter period of time, yeah yeah, his his videos are very. Do you all know what he's talking about? Yeah kills they're they're hilarious.

I love what he's doing um. I saw a video that you sent me the other day from derek sells southwest florida thanksgiving. Oh no, it's it's! The one he's so he's doing real real estate stories is the concept and he's sitting by a fire and he's reliving just crazy experiences as an agent, and i won't like you - can look it up and watch this video. It was basically he he was meeting a buyer for the first time at a house to show the property i'd never met.
He can't find the buyer, he walks around the back of the house and he finds the buyer back there like literally pants down peeing into a river, and they make eye contact and he, but what's so creative about his video, is he's the first person i've seen Reenacting his own story playing all the characters and piecing it together, as it is a voice over by the little fireside telling it. You can hear the fire popping in the background and i'm like that's going to be hard to do over and over again right like but my gosh, that's a great video snl skit, but that that was almost every other week on snl and you know you're right. Yeah, so so you could that actually could become a thing and then all of a sudden, like you, don't take all your clothes off and suddenly be a star. Well, so i've challenged several clients.

I was like next level. Is you acting out the story? That's the next level big time i've seen a couple. People do that which is just it's just. I got some more definite cool level of creativity.

I got some more coming. That's anyways! That's they're, killing it on video. I love it all right. So i'm going to give a shout out to the og uh.

I remember literally standing in my backyard on a conversation saying. Coldwell banker has hired me to help agents. This is like 2010.. They wanted agents nationally to start doing video.

So i called my number one client, a guy named tim smith and i'm like listen to me. Man and he's like i don't know, and if you look at his progression from like early days to now and now like he so so he doesn't have a videographer. He has a cinematographer yeah like so so, just like so his partner, and i he's on my podcast, like chris stacy right shout out. Chris stacy, like chris, is like yeah, like you know, i'd be in between like doing a documentary or a film or like a like a tv ad, yeah and and timmy would call and say dude i'll, just pay a little money like he's like.

I don't want to do listing videos he's like, let's not, let's reimagine, what a listing video could be like. What's the films now they're tim smith, films right, he doesn't do videos, he does films right and like now. Like you know, we talk all the time and they like they're, trying to figure out what's the next movie, that they want to do like they're they're. Turning this like yeah, he sells a lot of reality, makes a lot of money doing this, but he's taking that his real passion now is how many films could we do, and how can we change lives? How can we get people to think differently? Yeah, not just you know, buy this house right which clearly he does a lot of so yeah, so huge shout out to timmy smith, because he is he has like a laundry list of like like we would all like bucket list things we want to do in Our lives, his bucket list is like videos.
He wants to shoot like films he wants to create. I had an idea for him, you. It was with you and tim smith and he had said he went on a listing appointment and they didn't actually care about him. Listing yes, he was being hired as a marketing company they're like tell us about the video you're going to shoot in our house.

Exactly that's all they wanted to know that blew my mind, talk about from a branding standpoint when you were the agent in your marketplace, and people walk up and say: oh my god. What video are you gon na do? How are you gon na make our house the thing right? I'm thinking zombies for halloween right. That was a great video right right and he was one of the first to i think use children intelligently, like kids running around the house like so you experience the home from their perspective or the kids, acting as the buyers walking through the house and like talking About what they liked and what they did like, just just those little things like that and here's the thing about tim that i would say too there are other agents listing videos that i might say if i had to pick one favorite listing video of all time. I may not pick one of tim's, there are others for sure, but if i had to pick one person who's done it again and again and again and again and again it's time.

This is this is i'll, say this if you don't have a cocktail at the best restaurant in your area named after your listing video, you don't win because tim has it, you can get the teach me out of duffy cocktail. I mean it's just like i mean the owners the owners of the house would like. They were calling tim and saying people at three o'clock in the morning are pulling up on duffy boats drunk out of their minds. Screaming teach me how to duffy they're like we're.

Not sure if you want to own this house anymore, like he's like great new listing timmy, get him all right, so any closing thoughts about video cause. We got a fun uh, you kind of let the cat out of the bag. We've got a little secret mastermind going on tomorrow. Well, i mean sorry where's, your husband.

He would say tom, i'm really sorry about how you feel about this experience, all right, so closing thoughts before we wrap this up. What okay? Oh, i got it we're not wrapping this up. What would be the most iconic video for you to shoot, putting you on the spot? What's the most iconic video, you could shoot. What's going to be the thing? No, i don't care in the next 12 months.

Every one of you should have a video that does 10 million views in the next in the next 12 months. So what what do you hallucinate coach, i'm thinking? Well coach? Can i have some homework? Oh, this is actually it's way easier for me to think for y'all than this. For my idea, yeah. I have no idea what i would shoot um.
You can go around the room and just go. You should do this and you should do that and you should do this all right. Well, i have an idea for katie iconic right, so somebody said katie's video you were saying like katie's videos aren't she's not trying to be funny. I was like that's context, contextual, like i could think of staging together, uh a reel where it's like um situations, where real estates need to give long, detailed, sympathetic answers and then katie's like.

Yes, no, i'm sorry just short answers one after the next. I love that yep. I can do that yeah. What other? What other ideas? Do you see? What are you gon na be and they buy houses? The last the last couple weeks i've been asking all my clients.

They can only send out one marketing message all year, yeah just one marketing message: what would it be and what a lot of people have landed on is like a preparing to sell message, because what do we get right? We get a call 30 days before someone lists their house for sale, but what, if my all i could send out, was here's what you need to do to prepare your house for sale and why you should be strategic in it to maximize value, and that is Not going to go viral, but if you seed that to enough people you're going to make a ton of money right right, i got one more right that was like lisa doyle, the old, legendary video lisa doyle. We did a competition like this. I challenged all my clients, like you all, to shoot a video that will get you 25 to 30 listings in the next 12 months. That was the assignment right, lisa doyle's.

Video was no microphone. Flip video camera ghetto editing and i ghetto editing like literally and she's, like this just picture windy day in northern california and she's like hi, i'm lisa doyle. This is one two three four banana street. This was on the market for six months, with an agent no sale.

We listed and sold it in 15 days and got a ninety nine point. Seven percent of asking price, and literally the ghetto like editing, would go zhu to the next one and she's like this. Is 224, you know sycamore street on the market for two years with four different agents: no sale greg and i listed the property sold in 16 days got him 99.7 and she did it seven times in a row and she would call and expire listen and say. I just want to email you something if you'd be willing to watch it for a minute.

I'd be willing to have a conversation with you afterwards, let's just see if it makes sense boom send in the video they'd watch it and they're like okay. Let's go right and she killed on that video. Can i say an idea for videos that i haven't really seen from people in our country? No, no! No! No! No! No! Let's get that not on camera. Well, all the videos that i'm interested in are actually from this group in colorado and they're, not in our coaching program, and i love their videos.
Let's go pretty much. They pretty much talk about every part of colorado like oh yeah, and the titles are like the best places to move in colorado. If you love the snow or like if you're, um or like why you should live in highlands ranch or why you shouldn't move from california seo seo seo now, jeremy knight is doing some of that yeah. But that's the type of content i like to consume.

When are you moving to colorado? Potentially we've been talking about that too. It's like it's like a news anchor strategy. It is you're telling the news they're not usually like big production created videos - it's like maybe a shitty green screen with some b-roll yeah they're, just telling the news and it's they're eight to 20 minutes long yeah they go to they go to a local park. They sit on the bench, set it up and they're like hey, we're so and so remember, to follow us on social, we're going to show you the top five places to go if you're in highlands ranch leave me leave me a comment if you've been to this Park yeah and they watch this for the next year and they open up.

They always lead with two of like um, we're always happy to schedule. A zoom call with you to maybe talk about like where you'd want to live. You know that kind of stuff, and now i know if i were to move to colorado, i'm thinking of them for sure, and i could set up a zoom we've all done that, like like urban jungle in new york, does some stuff it's kind of similar to That reminds me of that yeah, so i think every resort community like resort location like you're killing it if you're doing that right now. Absolutely so i was hosting uh.

I get together with a bunch of my clients about a month ago. You were, i think, so. I was hosting a retreat with some of my clients, everybody, but tom, exactly uh. Technically they were your clients technically, which is even more awkward cowboy tom's clients.

So we are talking about what we think is the future of epic listening videos, and so we came up with this concept that uh zach faust is working on right now. I think, but it's a choose, your own story listing film, because we said that some people don't want to pull up to the big house in a ferrari. They want to run up in their jogging clothes right, so we're going to actually shoot multiple lifestyle, videos and we're going to have like which one do you want to watch and the plan is we're going to use end screens on youtube where it's going to be Broken into you can place the end screens like choose the next scene. Choose the next scene, choose the next scene and they can kind of tell their own story through nothing.

Every under 30 year old is like this is like a video game. This is red. No there's a book, i'm sorry, there's a book from um. Well, my husband is a huge fan of it and it's choose your own.
It's a book! Yeah! Well, there's like choose your own adventure books as a kid like. That's where we came from 40 to 50 year old demographic, which is ideal and perfect, yeah, brilliant, actually yeah, actually yeah. Why thank you hi? Thank you, you're kind of smart. Yes, what do you got? Stephen um? I love.

I. I love music videos, so i was thinking of getting all of my past clients and doing one big brand play for the team. Yeah we're leaving client reviews and we can auto tune their voices to one just a good, interesting video. So that's that's what i want to shoot.

I don't get it you don't get. It say it again. So i want to you got to do the auto-tune voice for him. Yes, yeah.

Try, oh, are you gon na be like share at like 70? Do you believe, like yes, oh man, but look where they show up uh but yeah? I wan na i wan na. Do that. I think that's that's the that, but is it gon na be like a song? Are they a choir? Okay? So that was where i was like. I was like wait like where's the song like yes, okay, good thanks, okay, you know a little bit of it, notorious right, yeah like one client pop into the scene and we're just walking and singing, and then another client pops in and then by the end of It it's just like this huge choir behind us behind the team.

Oh, i love that singing like like a music video you, you could also start just recording, regular listening videos like you talking in the tour but then have the editor auto-tune you anyways just so it sounds like you're, auto tuned for sure it'd be awesome. I'm saying this like jason's like like, i was like hilarious. The next uh 24 hours is going to be very interesting. I can't wait, i can't wait.

Did you did you go what no? No? What do you mean? What what are we doing here? Oh uh? No, i didn't i'm not creative, we already ready. It's a great affirmation say it again. Three times write it down 20 times put it on your bathroom mirror, i'm not creative. Yes, you are epic like something that you think is unattainable to like actually produce and get done.

Besides being on my podcast, you can have other agents come help. You too, i don't know. Okay, i'm like i like. I'm really, i'm really not great final answer.

Thank you, tim macy and scooters. Remember the scooter, video. I did a running video like the killer, video. I did the so tim did it and then you did it on your a kid's scooter and then i did it where i was like running down the street um.

This is awkward all right, we're looking at it. We're gon na, let you off it's getting awkward for all of us all right, so uh! So hey! Thank you all for uh for scooching into the podcast uh for my team out there. I think we're ready to wrap it up. Listen if you're watching this right! Now - and you went through all of this insanity, my my only hope is that, what's wrong with you, take away what's wrong with you, you're not coming back! Just listen like we're a bunch of friends talking about things that matter to us which is like marketing and videos and we're making fun of ourselves we're talking about epic, fails and the goods and the bads and the rights wrongs.
The bottom line is start just start. Take from this, i love the idea about brad who's, not following a bunch of real estate agents, instead of just following other youtubers which, like that was my takeaway, i'm like got it. So what are you gon na do? What are you gon na do? What are you gon na? Do? Leave us a comment. Let us know we'll see you guys soon, thanks so much for watching you.
