Warren Buffett has loaded up on Occidental Petroleum (OXY) stock in the days following the energy company's $12 billion Permian Basin acquisition. The billionaire investor bought in at a price that has served as a support level for OXY for the past 18 months.

So Warren Buffett Just purchased $590 Million worth of a stock last week. Let's break it down. let's talk about it. I Really hope that you guys learned something new and if you do, please drop a thumbs up and subscribe to the channel if you feel like we earned it.
If you have any questions after this video, either comment down below or shoot me a direct message via Discord or Instagram which is linked in the description down below. Let's go ahead and jump right into it. Warren Buffett Makes a $590 million purchase of an Energy stock after A1 billion acquisition. This is ticker symbol Oxy.
Following the days of the Energies Company's 122 billion permain Basin acquisition, the billionaire investor bought into a price that have served as a support of Oxy for the past 18 months. Let's go ahead and talk about it very very quickly. So first looking at this on the week chart, what do they mean for the past 18 months? what exactly are they talking about? Oxy has seen a constant a really nice Gap up from its lows of $833 Again, this is stier Syle Oxy I'm using the Weeble trading application if you want to download Weeble If you're tired of your old and outdated brokerage, it's the fifth Link in the description down below if you want a 12 free share signup bonus right now. Um, but as you can see very common support range right around $55 it hasn't really made much progress Beyond 76 at least not for the past year and this is what made me want to dig a little bit deeper.
Warren Buffett is the greatest investor of all times, right? I Mean no question. With that being said, this is on the technical side. I Took a further step back and please, you let me know down in the comments section what you think about this: When looking on the technical side, you can see the same common resistance range at $76 Resistance Rejected resistance, rejected Resistance rejected Resistance rejected Resistance rejected from 76 all the way down to lows of $8 That's a huge drop. 76 all the way back down to $55 We haven't made much progress so obious, obviously.
Warren Buffett sees something that isn't really just easy to see through the naked eye right? and obviously not on the technical side. So I think this is the beautiful thing about the day and age that we live in today. This is why I'm making this video where we can look at what we are working with right now and then later down the road. If Oxy goes from $60 to 120, look back to what got factored in that wasn't already announced that Warren Buffett saw value in in advance, right? You don't always have to benefit from the stock monetarily right away where you can learn from one of the greatest investors just by literally watching what it is that he does.
So this is why I Wanted to break it down. Let's go right into the actual numbers: Buffett Spent $ 5887 million more than 10 million shares of Oxy between December 11th and December 13th from a price range of 5558 to $57 according to regulatory filing late Wednesday So he purchased this last week. So again, this is great that we're being kept up to dat. The stock since has gained 2.7% doesn't really surprise you waren Buffett One of the greatest investors of all time invested in company. More people are going to want to invest in it. The thing that I wanted to share with you is that again, a lot of people aren't aware of. this is that this is the This isn't the first time that Warren Buffett has purchased Oxy. He purchased Oxy back in 2022 and he was targeting a price point of $576 So if anything from his purchase of 57 to 61 now he's purchasing at lows of 55 to 57.
Warren Buffett's averaging down. Um, with that being said, maybe he's also doubling down right again. Maybe he sees something that we don't see says Berkshire Hathway holds a 25.9% stake in Oxy since August of 2022 and then they told them that they would would Grant him approval if he wanted to purchase up to 50% of Oxy. However, Warren Buffett told shareholders that he had no intention of taking over the company.
This is something that Warren Buffett is notorious for. or if you don't sell him the company, he'll just buy you out if your company's publicly traded. Again, something to take into consideration with that being said, is I wanted to get your guys' input we're looking at on the technical side: Resistance resistance: I wanted to show you but let's use this little trend line tool from where we're at right now: if we go to previous highs: 23% Roi if we go back to previous lows 85% loss now obviously Warren Buffett sees something that we don't see and this is why I wanted to make this video because I wanted to follow up and see. You can see my two alerts that I have set right now.
If we break below 50, which is below the moving average, we have a potential selloff if we break above 76, maybe a potential rally. So this is what I want to do: I'm not invested in Oxy I have no intention to. but if we begin to break above and break above that resistance at $76 I might entertain the idea of lightly investing into oxy because now I see that not only the greatest investor of all time invested into this now, it's actually doing something that it hasn't done in the past before and surpassing a previous resistance range. I Like that Again, investing into a company doesn't mean all of your money, it just means whatever it is that you're okay with investing.
It could be a few thousands for me and again I Have some skin in the game, but not so much that It makes me emot or rational. But if we begin to get the break below the EMA or the break below the moving average, then guess what? Warren Buffett might be wrong. He might have to end up cutting losses and it's also going to be very interesting to see how he covers that right. He's going to have to cut his losses on that.
He's not perfect. No one is. So it's going to be really, really cool to be able to follow up with again, one of the greatest investors of all time in advance before his Investments actually either end up paying off or end up costing him tens of millions. if not maybe hundred hundreds of millions of dollars. So again, you guys let me know down in the comment section based off of what you know about Oxy on the fundamental side, with that 12 billion acquisition, and with what you know about it on the technical side. Uh, with its resistance at $76 its common support right around 55. Is Oxy a stock that would meet your criteria right now to invest in it? Or if not, share down in the comment section? why not Right Again, stock market is something that we talk about all the time. What if it passes resistance but sells off after that? Lol
First of all, MERRY CHRISTMAS brotha! Warren Buffett has made mistakes before like with the airlines. Market is in extreme greed right now, so maybe he thought he'd better switch lanes and jump into more oil. I remember what you said, don't copy my trades, just learn some things. He could be making a mistake or he could hit a home run. Another thing is, he already has Oxy, and he just bought more. so for people to copy his trades, they could very well make a huge mistake. Now saying that, I did however, buy some of his stocks like NU. LOL
Just look at his Lennar purchase.
LAST TIME HE DID THAT IT TANKED BAD AND FOR A LONG TIME. ๐
Buffet sees that we will never get away from oil. Never
Is the stock market actually getting better or could this be the regular end of year market manipulation to entice new investors? I'm currently sitting on 500k inheritance and just wondering what better assets than stocks to invest in right now
Under $60 is a buy.
I just learned something new today. Ricky you're the man! Thank you!
Warren Buffett's recent $590 million investment in Occidental Petroleum, post its major Permian Basin acquisition, is a striking example of identifying undervalued assets with significant growth potential. This strategic move in the energy sector, especially with OXY's stock showing a consistent support level around $55 and resistance at $76, not only underscores the potential within this industry but also mirrors the savvy required in the full dynamic markets. It's a reminder of the value of informed decision-making in investment, whether in traditional stocks or emerging digital assets… Amidst this, the insights of a knowledgeable guide like that of Francine Duguay can be crucial. Her expertise in navigating the nuances of trading has been the key for Me understanding and making the most of these emerging financial trends.
Thanks Riqui time to buy sqqq
If WB bought it last week itโs too late now
He obviously sees it breaking above this time especially with all the issues in the world. He also sees a high change of a red wave coming which is good for that industry.
OR, maybe Warren buffet knows that based on his holdings, he will SHORT OXY when he sees the price go up to the height of its previous levels? He will profit regardless of how he plays it. We have to remember if he in fact, knows how to invest, then he knows how the market moves better that we do. Remember, he can role with the market because he's wealthy enough to go through almost anything. Take it from the institution of my namesake, he knows what he's talking about.
Imo I'm buying some, but a limit order thanks for that info before, and see what happens.
That's crazy, I had OXY and my damn CPA told me about it a while back. I did some pump and dumps with it but yeah this is great info as always. Thanks again Rick๐๐๐๐๐
Warren Buffet or any serious investor donโt buy stocks on charts they Invest in good companies with intrinsic value.
Can that be related with Russia exiting EU oil market? So more companies are getting a steak
Warren Buffet is definitely not looking into a chart pattern before buying into something. There must be a long-term reason behind it. Oil might become very expensive in the near future based on his analysis!! A daytraders view and mindset is very different for Warren Buffet's.
I followed Buffet on airlines in 2017. He's publicly stated it was the worst trade of his life. Maybe energy is safer.
What? Is it OXYCODONE?
Warren is the type who will actually sit and read the accounting worksheets, if he can. He'll look for any sort of information that will tell about the actual financial progress of a business. He doesn't pass me as the guy who just looks at a stock low, and buys just because it's low.
BUY .. he never wrong ..
Yes. He has been accumulating oxygen for a year. I believe his first purchase was preferred stock, no market, but pays dividends and most likely convertible. His purchases surprisingly have not had any rear effect on the market price. I saw an interview where he explained his thought process. In typical Buffet fashion he explained his confidence in the management team and the strategic advantage oxy has in the type of wells and extraction method. He is looking long term and I don't believe he looks at technicals at all. I have been following and will continue. As an investor, yes, watch Berkshire. For trading, I don't think relevant. But we are all both, right?
Coinbase when from 34 to 170 this year– i'm mad
I still view the stock going up right now because of the news of Warren Buffet buying such a large portion of the stock. I look for it to pull back back in the 50โs, but will have alerts around $58-$59, $55, and $50. If it continues to go up Iโll have alerts around $63 and $67. But right now I donโt see it as a long term option.
Ricky. What happened to your Risk to reward ratio, did you forget that?
Not for me but will defo follow this and see how it works out for buffett
Ricky, will you be giving an end-of-a-year discount on the LPF by any chance??
