great video!
I actually had something similar happen today. I received a watch a really nice one. It belonged to my great grandfather and it's definitely my favorite just because of sentimental value
What is the name of your watch on your wrist
what a load of crap. "Hey mom can I have this watch you put next to the dumpster?"
Financed by 20 cent iced coffee 😀
Graham, I just watched your videos for first time and can’t get over how much the same we are. I’m in my 50s, made my first million in real estate in my 20s while in university. I’m super frugal on myself for 30 years – except for sports cars and the one sentimental $20k watch I bought myself 28 years ago. Totally relate to you your sensibilities on money, enthusiasm for learning and ideas on life
I think its pronounced Zeeenith
It doesn't sound weird to say that at all. No need to justify (like many people are saying in the comments). Sorry about your grandpa, thank you for sharing the story with us!
Should look at pre-owned for good prices with Zenith. Beautiful watch though!
This is the cutest video ever !!!! 😻 loved the story … serendipitous…
talk about luck finding the watch !
You don't wear a watch of your grandpa. He never wore your watch.
Cool story bro… I always justify my spending with that kinda logic. I see watches as a diversification type purchase, some people buy CD's, other's get paintings, I get watches, the few I've re-sold gave me about 50% return, but I always buy them used and at bottom price, just in case I regret it I can sell them back for a solid 3-5% return.
rip money, would be worth twice if u didnt rip the original plastics
To think they were gonna throw this watch away.
Graham made an excellent purchase. The original 1969 Zenith will most likely fetch a higher price than his 18k gold one, if vintage Daytonas are anything to go by these days…
Thanks so much for watch-ing 😏
Holy…. those 8386 watches are so rare, and you just found it, in an UNWORN CONDITION, in a dumpster…. and you didn't recognize Zenith, or the brand, you just thought it was cool. This is why I love watches, they carry such cool stories with them. Congrats!
So, so, much more classy than a Rolex. Good on you, Graham.
Can I also point out how Graham’s VERY OWN Zenith watches will have even more value than the other Zenith watches because of the story? (Or do they not factor in stories like this in the valuation?)
You also get to write off the watch since it’s for Youtube 😉
It might just be me but outside a vintage Paul Newman I think that watch is far cooler than a Daytona
Graham, beautiful heiloom. When you put on your watch, always put your wrist down on a table, do not do it while elevated in the air. Over the course of years and years of wearing watches, I've dropped a very expensive piece the first day that I owned it on tile floor.
1969-1988 the Zenith calibre 400 movement was used in the Daytona, not 12 years.
And no, there is no relationship to Zenith 1865 and Zenith Electronics besides for a little stock ownership. They're unrelated and two separate companies.
On a separate note, beautiful piece. I'm currently in the market for a 38mm two tone or solid 18k Zenith El Primero.
I currently have a 1960s manual wind and a rose gold manual wind Zenith which are the best values in the vintage market.
Just got to the part about the family and the story. Props to you, dude. I agree. Amazing!!! Excited for you.
How is its wearibility?
Kudos mate….whilst every other Youtuber is buying Richard Mille’s or an iced out Rolex…..you’ve bought something of true horological value👍👍
Just want to say: This video was meant to have a positive message and story behind it, and to illustrate that many watches hold value and make rather profitable investments. Similar to how I bought and owned a Lotus Exige for 5 years, while also making money from it – sometimes these purchases are a little unorthodox, without ever losing value. This purchase would be similar to me holding cash in a high yield savings account from a financial perspective. Just wanted to clarify.
