WTF is WIKFATW?
In the words of our cynical short-selling expert Kyle Williams, TWIST is now officially called...
What Is Kyle Frustrated About This Week
That’s WIKFATW for short.
No, TWIST isn’t really opting for a rebrand, but now’s a perfect time to discuss the latest trading challenges. Today, the TWIST hosts discuss different ways to approach this “new” market.
Sure, the hosts have been talking about a slow down for months. But now that it’s officially here, the adjustment period is, well, difficult.
And, despite our hosts treading water, many traders are struggling to adapt.
If that rings especially true to your situation, then this episode is for you.
Tune in and enjoy.

*Please note that any reported trading results are not typical. Most traders lose money. It takes years of dedication, hard work, and discipline to learn how to trade, and individual results will vary. Trading is inherently risky. Before making any trades, remember to do your due diligence and never risk more than you can afford to lose.

    – slow markets is not the time to force it.

    – jack only trades 30min-1hr a day in slow periods. Being there for the easiest plays. 5-10k a day

    – selling swings too late.

    – just trying to take morning trades.

    – certain days count more than others in slower period. sometimes you don’t fill. When you don’t fill, newer traders will chase down 15%, but once it’s already down 15%, it probably is the lowest low.

    – when it’s busy, 50-100 stocks, when it’s slow just 1 stock. Just focus on it when the play is there, just nail it and bail because if you stick around looking for other plays, it’s the type of market you’ll just bleed money away. Be super focused. Super selective. Only a few plays a week. When the plays are there, make sure you’re ready and focused. Nail them and move on.

    – if you learn in a slow market, you have a smaller margin of error, it’s tougher but you’ll learn to be very efficient quickly, so the habits you learn when it’s a hot market will be 10x easier. Those who made money in hot market have learnt bad habits = just buy a stock and it goes up, but they have no idea what they’re actually doing. This market has more skill, more tactical, more patience to wait for a setup to come

    – when it was hot market, only a couple stocks under $1 in Nasdaq and otc was $1.9trillion floating in a month

    – everything now is going lower, lower, lower

    – good time to step back and learn. Be in tune with the market. Learn to be efficient and discipline in slow market.

I needed to see this today. I’ve been swinging at everything lately. Mostly short. Nothing has gone my way. Most of my fav patterns are scarce. Bounce short, gap up short.. it’s been difficult. 7 losses in a row. After being green for 3 months. Man this was refreshing to watch. I guess I gotta be patient and try to enjoy myself before the market starts heating back up.

Good to hear the warnings not to overtrade or force trades and that the market will typically slow down going into summer.

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Todd says:

Beginners….don't buy into spikes n early morning breakouts or new highs….wait then short or buy puts contracts by scaling in ur trade. Avgeraging down as the stock spikes higher. Sell on the short term dip wen the bears overwhelm the bulls, who are paying higher n higher prices. Watch the percentage of the move. The higher the better. Don't touch it under 5%. Good luck.

Speaking about the mental game, I recommend "Trading in the Zone " by Mark Douglas. It really opened my eyes about my own inner game.

Jack, you need to get yourself one of those treadmill desk or standing desks where you are standing or walking while working on your comp. You can use it for half the day, I am sure it will improve your physical health.

Thanks Kyle, Jack, and Matt! Yes, more WIKFATW and WIKEATW (what is Kyle excited about this week), please! Today, 4/22 I see many OTC parabolic runners that faded for weeks spike again – ABML, AITX, BRLL, CBBT, GTLL, OZSC, to name a few. We shall see if there is follow-through. Would love your comments. I went long OZSC yesterday and am selling into strength. Greetings from Santa Barbara!

I had the typical “No fill” problem the other day with TOS. I switched from my desktop to my iPad and suddenly I had fills. I shut down the desktop TOS and re-logged in and suddenly I was filling. Did Jack try anything like that?

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andy Salo says:
