This dude is fanboying over Tesla way too much. He doesn't really understand what car culture is about. Calling the 918 a Joke? That's like the benchmark for ALL hypercars, and even though it slightly loses out in acceleration, it will easily MORE than make up for it in (unlocked) top speed, track performance, and overall quality. This car is a benchmark for all performance cars, let alone hypercars, and this still will be the way it will be, for a reason. This car has a lot more than the Roadster can offer, and there is a reason it REGULARLY goes for triple its retail price on the second-hand market. Not just for collectors.
It won’t disrupt the sports car market. Sports cars are not about going as fast as possible, that would be a drag car. A sports car is designed to be very light, fast & snappy gearbox, virtually no engine lag, around 50/50 weight distribution, manual transmission, great tactile steering feedback, rear wheel drive, double wishbone suspension, balanced horsepower, and has to be small.
The Venom F5 is also coming out. It’s going to be a competitor top speed wise because in case Elon Musk fanboys didn’t know, 0-60 isn’t everything.

everyone praises electric for being clean energy, and whilst i absolutely love tesla and the roadster and agree it is the future. Most of that electricity is coming from fossil fuels and other pollutive outlets. Does it cause less damage to the environment as say combustion engine based cars? Absolutely. Is it a perfect solution and to be held on a crowning pedestal as many hold it up to be? No. And this is coming from someone who loves EV's and tesla as a whole. Tesla's outdone themselves with the roadster and it absolutely will disrupt the car industry and combustion engines can only get so much better with over 100 years of improvements to them. Either theirs a breakthrough in combustion technology or in 10-20 years time they'll be dead. kinda of a rant dont comment much but when i first saw the argument that fossil fuel's are more than likely whats being burned to create the electricity used, I saw it as a fair point and thought I should point it out.

You can try to compare all the specs from the Roadster, it is just not a real Sports car and it will never be one. It is like comparing a Corvette with a Ferrari and claim it is a real sports car, it just isn't. the Rimac and Lotus Evija are real sports cars.

K, but when are they going to release an affordable coupe??? They can dominate the coupe market and steal it away from mustangs and cameros if they made a coupe that is in the price range of 25-40k. Not saying it should have the specs as a Tesla roadster, but comparable to mustangs. There would be guys in their mid twenties hopping all over it

It will be interesting to see how the Roadster 2.0 goes. An 800K$ car or a 3.6 M$ car has something the Roadster 2.0 doesn't have, it has the price tag.
