The stock market crash turned ugly last week after the S&P 500 lost another 5%, falling over 10% in 2 weeks.
And with inflation high and the Fed expecting to raise rates more aggressively, a lot of investors are panicking.
But is there an important lesson we can learn from the last time inflation ran hot in 1979 to 1982?
In this video I will explain why the 2022 stock market crash that everyone says is inevitable because of the coming recession may not be as certain as some claim.

Actually treasury yield is causing the crash.

  2. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Modest Proposal says:

Not a comparable period. 1980 was after a decade of high inflation and a 10 year bear market in stocks. There was also a strong organised working class.

Interesting, so curious to see what happens and be a part of it. Also after probably 6 months I just realised you got a new couch haha

Sasha, have you left the UK 🇬🇧, you don’t talk about UK economy as much anymore, it’s all about the Feds this, Feds that, Feds…, you skip around the BoE name like a plaque, not heard you talk about FTSE as much as you talk about S&P, Dow etc.
I haven’t heard you name the BoE governor, you always talking about Biden, etc. what’s going on?
Have you left? Or just realised that the American audience is more lucrative and you sold us out?
I started watching you for UK news, now all I get is US 🇺🇸 news.
I know we are not as many as the us, but chasing after views and selling your soul isn’t the best neither.
    Go back home please.

Nice pick, I’m compiling and picking stocks that I’d love to hold on to for a few years before retirement, do you think these stocks would do better over the years? I’d love to retire with at least $2million savings. Now you gotta rely on a pretty good diversification if you must stay green. Currently up 11% and being cautious. Still better deal than letting it sit in savings or checking earning near 0-1% interest.

Stocks are falling and bond yields are rising, but markets still don’t seem convinced the Federal Reserve will pursue plans to keep increasing interest rates until inflation is under control. I'm still at a crossroads deciding if to liquidate my $117k stock portfolio, what’s the best way to take advantage of this bear market?

< I respect your work mate. TA Is all well and good but I find It truly baffling that all major crypto youtubers just look at pure TA and completely ignore the bigger narratives..<BTC's price has been fluctuating lately, which means the market is currently open and you cannot tell whether it is going to be bearish or bullish. This uncertainty is driving most traders away and forcing investors to hold. I would say it's totally wrong to just sit back and wait, maybe make a few losses, this is the wrong way of thinking for an investor because as an investor it should be our job to find ways to add and recharge more and more coins as the ultimate goal of making a profit. It all depends on the pattern you are trading in and the source of your strategies as well. I started at 3.2 BTC and accumulated over 17.5 BTC using the correct trading strategy given to me by an experienced trader, Ken Morgan. He's available on ͲeIєɠɾαm👉 (@Theken717) He runs program for investors/newbies who lack understanding on how trading Bitcoin work's

Heard someone say the best season for a fin.ancial breakthrough is now, especially with inflation running at a four-decade high. I have approximately $750k stagnant in my port_folio that needs growth. What is the best way to take advantage of this downturn?

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vinay says:

This was one of your better videos(they’re all very good anyway) and the click bait title was totally unnecessary!
But still it’s good to see history suggesting stock markets being influenced by its perception of control by central bankers rather than actual rates. I’m not sure this necessarily makes me more optimistic at the current time. I think I’ll wait a bit longer…

Waa. Nice one Sasha! What an interesting and non run of the mill discourse. Great stuff. Agree the world is now very different from the 1980s. So the market and government reaction might be very different. Still, that does not diminish the good insights and potential of a different outcome than what the street expects.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Miguel Teran-Raful says:

Sasha are you saying that we need higher rates?

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Amir AlKaisy says:

    Very informative video, thanks.
Yet, the similarities are not quite good between now and back in the 80s since the reason for inflation is different. Also, this Fed will never match the interest rate hikes of the 80s. However, inflation now is as high as back then due to how they are measuring inflation currently, which underestimates the actual figures. So, this time it will take much longer to tame inflation of nowadays, and the stock market will suffer for a while as the current interest rate should be more than the actual inflation of 12 to 15% (if measured by the 80s standards) to have a tangible impact.

Turns out that if you dig in history you can find more examples other than Volcker. This is what Bridgewater (Ray Dalio) do is research back more than a hundred years using old news papers and other documents.
Then they study these historical cycles under the logic of a search for cause – effect relationships

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Garry Simmons says:

Why does no one have the bollocks to say that this is an orchestrated global take down of the ponzi banking system because it has reached its end. The new digital control system is to be implemented but, not until the broken population beg for it when they are in dire straits and starving to death.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mr Frugal says:

I own good stocks and happy to keep buying each month. I am hoping the markets continue to fall so I can keep buying at special sale prices 🙂

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alton says:

Government caused this inflation. Always the case. It is what happens when you shock markets with an obscene increase of the money supply. Going to take time for these new dollars to be absorbed. Years. Doubt any pivot will happen at least without negative consequences. Understand, we are led by Fools. Complete Fools.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wutzis says:

Americans need jobs and wages that support a decent stand of living and self worth. Federal Reserve fiat currency and government deficit spending have destroyed price discovery and free markets. Charlatans want to pimp the next asset bubble.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Wotireckon says:

I don't really see any Paul Volckers atm.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars allesglar - l0v3nul says:

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David McAdam says:

I'm 70% sure the FED surely knew about how bad inflation was. I'm also convinced that as leaders they will feel a duty to break in this message slowly to the 99% of the US population doesn't panic. Great video as always.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fireteam Omega says:

The problem is that you can't just collect expecting to exploit someone else to accomplish that. Enough people do that it becomes an upside down pyramid and inevitably collapses. Middle class was enticed to the idea that home ownership was an investment to acquire wealth since the 1940s. So ask yourself how can everyone keep making money off homes generation by generation it simply doesn't work eventually the end user fronts the bill. And unremarkably as we see now many of this current generation are sourced out of home ownership. Add in overvaluation of a majority of stocks and what I call virtual stocks (ones with no actual product just investments into other investment or fractional investment firms) all with lower return rates. Anyway you can imagine where the trend of increasing consumption without negatable production ends. Either we keep creating more money out of thin air to pay for this system and sweep it all under the rug until everything inflates beyond reason. Or we collapse and rebuild the system… The important part is how we rebuild it as most likely it will be the same system merely as a fully digital block chain system.

Hi Sasha, with the Pound weakening against the dollar, would this be a problem investing in US stocks? Especially when it starts becoming stronger again, wouldn’t we in the UK take a big FX hit?

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars alistair watson says:

a large amount of food prices relate to packaging costs not the cost if the food so its very difficult to quantify food inflation. personally the whole thing seems like a mess. so yes inflation is possibly dropping the issue I see policy makers and financial media talk about the Paul Volcker increased rates in the US but not at the same % as the current fed have done already so I think the fed have over done it. What do you think ?
