Warrior Trading // Ross Cameron // Day Trade Warrior
What's up you guys? Alright, well this is gonna be an unusual episode. I'm hanging out here in well, the passenger seat of a 1961 Volkswagen bus. my son is back there sweeping the floor. which is good because that floors a mess and probably like a lot of you guys.
childcare during Kovat 19 has not been the same as it was before hand, but that doesn't mean I don't want to still get some good content for you guys. So I'm gonna do a little bit of what we call multitasking. This is also known as hands-off parenting where I've got my eye on him. but hands off, that's the way I grew up and it turned out just fine.
So I wanted to bring the guitar in for this episode because I was thinking about the process of learning to play the guitar and the process of learning today trade. On the surface, you might think totally different being a musician. being a day trader almost complete opposites, but there are some similarities so bear with me. I this is actually my father's guitar and I started playing this guitar when I was in I mean I remember starting to play it when I was in high school, printing out the guitar tabs' for you know, different songs and things like that and trying to learn how to play them and you know I found I have never gotten good at the guitar I find that it's very, very difficult, but I also believe that I really haven't practiced or really tried to make it happen.
so there's probably a lot of people out there who have picked up a guitar and thought ah, this is interesting. You know you see a guitar, you know someone like Eric Clapton something and you're like wow, he's so good and he just makes it look easy right? he's just and you're like that is incredible and I think and actually I have a clip that I'm going to show you of one just little guitar solo that makes it looks so easy. and I think that's the part that I really wanted to hone in on. How sometimes traders are like man.
Ross you make it look so easy. when you're trading, you know you're so quick, you're just jumping in, jumping out on those hot keys you're in, you're out, and it's like so fluid, not unlike someone who's playing the guitar who's just in that flow state, who's really good, who's really dialed it so it looks easy. But then when you pick up the guitar, you're like you know, how do I even do this And not to mention you know the guitar. You've got lefty and righty and everything else.
So when I first started playing the guitar, I knew enough about the guitar. kind of like knowing enough about stocks to kind of understand. You know how it works. it's you know you hold it like this and you've got your your strumming hand and then you've got your hand that you put on and could you know create the chords so I understood that part.
I'd seen people play, probably like trading. you've seen many of you now at this point you've seen a few people trading. You may have seen a few of my live trades, so you kind understand. All right. he gets in. not sure exactly how or where, but he gets in. he sees something, he acts on it, he makes some money, and then he gets out and he books the profit alright. looks looks easy enough.
So let me pull up a nice little clip here of something that looks easy enough. This is so this is Trey from Fish playing July 3rd 2015 in Chicago This was the fare-thee-well tour and this is just absolutely unreal guitar play. This is a guy who makes it look easy. He's so good.
I mean arguably you may not like his music, but this guy really knows what he's doing. Look at that. Oh my God. That's what it's all about.
Amazing. He's just he's shredding that guitar. So then I pick up with a guitar and I'm like I can do that right? And that's where a lot of beginners, both as guitar players, but also as day traders. quickly realized wow, this is this is a lot of work.
I Mean not only is it understanding the instrument, you know, getting it, you know, tuned up right, making sure it sounds good. It's then the finger positions and ultimately it's a learning curve, but it's not one that you can't get through. I would say for sure that there are some people that have a natural aptitude for playing the guitar and there's people that have a natural aptitude for for trading stocks. There's just something about it that connects with you that you you understand.
and I would say that I genuinely am not good at reading sheet music I never have been I've tried in the Kin I don't I'm not good at it and I'm not really good at finding a rhythm on strumming I'm a little bit better playing the piano and and that just as sort of a tangent is kind of interesting because you know you can spend a lot of time learning to play the guitar and never get really good at it, only to someday jump on the piano and be like wow, this connects and I would say that's kind of like learning how to day trade versus learning how to do short-term investments or swing trades or even being a passive investor. It's everything you learn playing one instrument and will help you in the next instrument that you try to play or try to learn, but you may naturally be much better at one than than another. so you know the process. I think of getting really good on on the guitar I know like Jerry Garcia was really big preacher of practice practice Bob Weir talks about how Jerry would say you need to practice more, you need to practice more and the more I practice the better I get.
And that's true. We date right. How do you practice day trading? You can trade in a simulator, you can watch live trading archives. You can watch my recaps.
There's a lot of ways that you can practice so you are getting involved. Same with the guitar. you just keep practicing. You build those calluses.
You build that muscle memory to the point where you can be doing it with your eyes closed. Now I'm terrible.i right, those are like the only two chords I Know, you know. But so a little day trader I'm a day trader hey Bud, come on over here. I'm a pretty good day trader I Love Nasdaq The more I practice, you know I could get this down I Could write a little ditty about small caps and large caps low floats, parabolic momentum stock short sale restriction. you could get a song about that. Ultimately, there's not a lot of reward in it for the hard work of learning how to get good on the guitar. It's for me. I'm sure there's an incredible satisfaction, but it's not going to be monetary with learning the trade.
I Think one of the things that keeps a lot of people going is the the realization that you know if I can. If I can figure this out, this could be the difference between me having to go into a nine-to-five job and the living life on my own terms. So I think that's the really strong motivator that keeps people going. Even when it first you know your your fingers were sore, you're confused.
you're overwhelmed I Want to encourage you that you guys can do this. it's and again I Don't want to say that everyone in the world can do it because I think just like being a musician, there is something to be said for having a natural aptitude. Some people have a natural aptitude for it and they're gonna, you know, just pick it up really quickly once you've mastered it like you're in that flow stage like you just get it. It just connects and you know it's playing those hot keys, just jumping in, jumping out, and it's It's a lot of fun and of course making money at the same time.
That's not too bad either. So I hope this inspires you. It's kind of a little bit of off of the the typical topics that I mean it Well, we're obviously talking about trading so it's just a little bit of a different different are you guys? So I think that's it for me I Just want to make this quick video for you I Hope you guys enjoy it. comments below.
Give me some, give me my next. Give me the chorus for my new song. a little bitty about I can't even think of a good title That's okay. it'll come to me.
Sun shining warm outside. See you guys later! Hey, it's me again. The most popular video on day training on YouTube was made by me. You can check it out below if you haven't already And as always, if you have questions, leave them in the comments.
I personally respond to every question that's posted on my channel.
I've been playing guitar for 20 years. People say I'm brilliant. I really wished I'd picked up Trading 20 years ago. I'd be living my dream life right now.
The coolest!!!
Thanks for your aspiration Ross.
Like your video.
Ross, do you have any statistics for the success rate of your students? I'm thinking about jumping into day trading but am trying to get more information. Thanks, enjoy your videos!
Hey Ross the best video ever ,so cool ,love it
Play the day trading blues.
Michael Jordan out practiced everybody! Building my craft. Cheers!
Dude this is so good. Love the analogy and you look like, with more practice, you'd be a killer riffer.
Awesome video Ross. I like your style. I’m doing my research now, and building my understanding and comfort. I read a lot in a book, and found your videos, and have been surfing your YouTube. I’ll be sending in for the free class… great deal there! Can’t wait to continue my education. Have a great one. peace
I hate to invade this cool and different Ross video with an off-topic question but…do you know how to find your relative volume study in Thinkorswim? If not, can you tell me the scanner you use that has that listing? "I LOVE NASDAAQ" lol
What was the white car, looked sweet!
Hey Ross, I just bought the Warrior starter a few days ago and have been doing a lot of chapter. And kinda practicing on the sin ,, however can you make a video on how taxes work on offshore account? Or is their a video to watch. !! Like 2-3 months from now if I feel comfortable. I want to open a account with CMEG and just confused on how to withdraw money and taxes ! Thank you so much! 🙂
I am guitar player and thats how im trying to approach learn trading…
Loved EVERYTHING about this inspiring video!!! Plus the hands-off parenting! LoL! Here's your song, "I suck at playing the guitar too, but with WT help, I might be able to trade too. Got to leave the 9 to 5, must keep my profits to stay alive..dah dah dah, no jive, no jive" Later cool dude! Peace 🙂
Please share the link for the shirt you bought/wear thank you. It looks amazing everytime.
Please write a song about short seller restrictions, lmao, i'm dying.
interesting question regarding Starling Pro, lets say for example i buy a stock at 5, i set a ask price at 5.50, and i also set a hard stop at 4.90, if the price goes up to 5.50 and the ask gets filled, but immediately drops to 4.90 without giving me the opportunity to cancel the hard stop, what happens then? will i sell stocks that i don't have, in other words will i short the stock so to speak, or will the hard stop sell order automatically be canceled because there isn't any stocks left ?
…Curious what the model/make/year of guitar that is… I'm guessing it has some value – more than sentimental, being it was your Dad's… I couldn't get a good look at it to tell… Thanks!
Actually there are Many similarities Ross! I am a Jazz musician (Drummer) – and trading the way I do (reacting/responding to price action), is Very Similar to Improvising on the bandstand (responding/reacting – in the moment – to what is going on around you (say during a sax/piano/guitar/etc solo)… So you are correct – especially when your dialed in and in the zone… it's like "floating" – being one with your surroundings – be it music or trading… For me – It Is The Same Feeling!!… Great Analogy Ross!
Nitpick alert: your high E string was flat. I guess that's like using an indicator with the wrong settings.
Like others here, I've been playing for a long time but can remember how long it took to go from beginner to okay to pretty good (losing/break-even/profitable). Great analogy, Boss!
Lost 300k playing with stocks. I was a naive bagholder growing up. 28 years old now and i am Changing my approach to stocks. Hopefully my mistakes help me with future gains
That is so weird. I can play the guitar, but I just started trading. So I'm going to keep trading, so I can match my guitar skills.
Hey Ross. Having trouble setting up a 10 cent stop loss in lightspeed. any advice?
Hi,Ross!
I have a question for you : How can we avoid the fraudulent platforms because I used to be cheated for 40k $?
Title for your new song –
Trade Like A Boss
Chorus:
Cuz I’m Ross and I Trade Like A Boss
And if you don’t listen up
It’s your loss
Locked and Loaded on my profits for the day
Now I’m ready for my vacay
And the last thing I gots to say
Sign up for my Warriors class
And you learn how to kick some ass
On Wall Street!!!! Yeaaaah yeaaahhh
Rock n Roll 😁
Its so true, the more you practice the better you get. im using TD Ameritrade with $500 cash account, but next month i will be changing to CMEG, not able to take your course, because i dont have that much money. Ross, wanted to ask you, is there a way i could use, your SIM software? or i could pay monthly??? so i could start getting use to the software? or what would you recommend?
