So the last time I applied for a new credit card was actually more than two full years ago I climbed the infamous credit card ladder that I made multiple videos about here on. YouTube I made a guest appearance on a Netflix documentary called Money Explained as a credit card expert and right now well I have over 3 million points across all my accounts I had told myself that I'd be done applying for new cards. That was actually until recently where I came across what I consider to be one of the best cards for 2023.. Well in this video, I'll share with you why I applied for this card, what the benefits are and I'll give you my own thoughts on whether or not this is a card that you should also sign up for and why I think this might arguably still be the best credit card of 2023..
So what makes the build card so special is just the fact that this here is the one and only credit card that gives you benefits when you're paying money to rent. There was an article that came out by the New York Post that talked about how more Americans are spending over half their income on housing. Furthermore, average rent is now 32 percent of the typical Americans pay and that's more than financial experts recommend budgeting for housing. part of this is due to inflation.
Another part of this is just lifestyle increase. People don't want to be living in Old beat-up Apartments I Know there are a lot of people, especially my peers that choose to live in more of the new, modern, high-rise apartments that are getting built every day. Needless to say, a lot of people spend money on rent, but it seems to be one of those spending expenses that we don't put too much emphasis on personally. for me: I've been living in apartments for over the last three to four years now and after doing some math I realize that I've spent over a hundred fifty thousand dollars in just rent.
It's like crazy 150 000. That is most people's dream car that is more than a down payment on a home. It's a lot of money now. Normally what I would do though is use a credit card like my American Express Platinum Card to pay the rent.
But what normally happens is that they would take a two to four percent processing fee in order for me to use that card. In certain situations, you can still find yourself earning positive value if you're able to redeem those points for higher value. But keep in mind, High Redemption is never guaranteed if that kind of went over your head. Let me explain just a little bit more simply if I'm paying two to four percent in processing fees and I'm only earning 1X back on my AmEx platinum card, Where the value comes is from redeeming it for higher value of travel.
On average, let's say your rent for your apartment is about three thousand dollars a month. My sister just moved into a new apartment. that's how much it is for about a studio in the DMV area. That's about how much I paid for a one bedroom.
Loft Now in the course of a year, if you spent three thousand dollars a month, you would have spent over thirty six thousand dollars in rent in a span of a year. Now in two years, that would have been seventy two thousand dollars. And in three years, you would have paid over a hundred eight thousand dollars in just rent. So let's say you have to pay three percent transaction fee, which is usually the average for a lot of these companies. Over the course of those three years, you would have paid over three thousand, two hundred and forty dollars in just transaction fees. This is where I feel like the power of the Built Master credit card comes out where we've never seen a credit card offer these type of benefits Instantly, You would save that three thousand, two hundred forty dollars over the course of the three years based on that three thousand dollar rent. And just right there by being a card owner, you're saving about a thousand dollars a year. That sounds pretty good, but let me tell you, it's only the start because the Built MasterCard offers you One X back on rent payments on up to fifty thousand points each calendar year.
So this means if your rent is no more than four thousand, one hundred and sixty six dollars a year, you would be maxing out the full fifty thousand points. now. Fifty thousand built points! What is that even worth? Well Built was also just recognized as having the most valuable Reward Points above Amex membership reward points and even the Chase Ultimate Reward Points by Bank rates. In a recent study, The reason why this is valued so high is because you can actually transfer your points one to one to.
many already exist testing programs such as American Airlines IHG Rewards, World of High United Airlines and Air France just to name a few. This also means if you're able to get a two point to one cent Redemption you're scoring an additional one thousand dollars in a calendar year by spending money that you would have already spent. If you have 50 000 built points, you could transfer it over to American Airlines Advantage Miles for saver Awards And from there you can find yourself getting these business class flights. You can also redeem your points over to Flying Blue miles to go to Paris or Amsterdam through Air France or you can use 47 500 version points for Virgin Atlantic Upper class.
This is all free stuff that people are getting, which most people never dream of being able to do in a lifetime. So in a single given year by using this card just for rent, which is something most people have to do anyways. Here's a breakdown of what you're getting. You're getting up to 50 000 points if you end up spending a little bit more a month on your rent.
and you can also find yourself getting 2x back on travel, 3x back on dining. And they also to do a cool little benefit too where you get double points on the first of the month. So instead of 3x and 2x, you'd be getting 6X on dining and 4x on travel and 2x on everything else excluding rent I think even right there, it could come in handy if you know how to play it right because 6X back on Dining is insane. Now to top it all off, one of my favorite aspects of this card is that for all the benefits you get, there's no annual fee. It literally costs nothing To hold this card above all, you're going to be getting some additional benefits such as trip cancellation and Interruption protection. To pile on that, a trip delay reimbursement is also credited to your account for up to five thousand dollars of reimbursement for a non-refundable passenger fare. If your trip is interrupted or canceled for a covered reason. then there's also cell phone protection where if you want to pay your cell phone bill with your built MasterCard you'll get up to eight hundred dollars of protection now.
I've used a similar benefit with my credit card. This is with the AmEx Platinum card where I'd actually damaged my iPhone I took it in for repair. They hit me with the bill to replace, place the screen cover and it went really easy. I Just saw the credit come back on my statement after filing the claim and it was easy and if this is anything similar to that experience, let me tell you, having cell phone protection is actually really nice.
Also, on top of the fact that you get coverage for damage or theft like if someone steals your phone, you don't need to chase after them, your Built MasterCard is going to cover you for up to eight hundred dollars. Likewise, if you also buy anything with a built MasterCard and happens to get damaged or even worst case scenario gets stolen because a lot of you know theft is happening these days, up to 90 days you'll find yourself getting up to ten thousand dollars back as purchase security. Now Last but not least, you know those things are great, but this card also helps you to build credit, which means it'll also improve your chances of getting approved for any other credit cards down the line. And this is because of the Built Rent Reporting feature and Built Protect.
The Built Rent Reporting feature allows your rent payments reported to all three major U.S credit bureaus, making it easier than ever before for renters to continue building a history of on-time payments. And on top of that, Built Protect allows your funds to get pulled directly from your bank account to pay off rent charges to avoid High utilization being reported to the credit bureau. Now in terms of downsides: I there really isn't much at all I mean some of the downsides that people talk about is the fact that built MasterCard is off of the MasterCard Network which is not really accepted at all places, but I've never had an issue with MasterCard and on top of that, people will also complain that this is through the Wells Fargo Network I. Can also look past that because it looks like they did such a good job rebranding and I've had no issues from signing up for this card getting approved. They sent me a text message that I got approved for this card that was on its way and they've just been doing such a good job with having even their own dedicated app on the IOS and Android store to having just a well-functioning interface on their website. Needless to say, this card is definitely very, very high on my list. If it came out three to four years ago, I would have saved so much money, but it's out now to apply for the built MasterCard and get approved. I Highly recommend you to have a score of at least 600 70.
the higher your credit score is, the better your chances of getting approved. Not a concluding conclude: I Am going to boldly claim that the build card is one of the most valuable credit cards of 2023 for anyone who pays rent to live in their home. Now, if you happen to be a homeowner right now I don't think the bill card is going to work for you in the FAQ they state that mortgages aren't applicable, but if you're someone who's paying rent to like a landlord, if it's not like a full apartment building like the one I'm living in now and you're paying it to maybe a friend, they can actually go ahead and mail a direct check to that person that you're sending the money to. So if you guys did find Value in this video, be sure to like And subscribe.

Hey Brian, I love your videos but after only seeing you do crypto content I feel a bit lost without your perspective. I heard your closing saying how those videos aren’t doing well but if you could do the occasional update to get your pulse on the market that would be really helpful. I did a lot of credit card research before so I certainly enjoy these too. Thanks bro. Happy new year!
Does anyone know if they can mail to PO BOX?
