In the past, Tesla has put aside solar, but the company's recent moves are showing that the company is starting to prioritize solar as the equivalent to Tesla vehicles. In this video, I'm going to go over Tesla's recent moves in the solar space and unpack Tesla's secret weapon: solar.

People think that Tesla is the only company hiring smart people ?! It would be a mistake to underestimate other nations like Japan or Germany . There are new innovations every day and plenty of smart people and EV companies out there ! Stock is way overpriced – where is the dividend ??? It's all speculation !

I dont know if these systems will save the planet but I know they will make someone filthy stinkin rich!

You have no idea how powerful this solar stuff will become. You didn t even touch on it.

No one inside giga factory has put on their face masks, hope that the video shooting time was more than half a year ago !

Tesla already has zero-point technology but is keeping it under wraps! Same with Keshe. Who is Keshe? Look on youtube and brace yourself for a shock.

Is supporting solar panels off roofs (new or existing) bringing the price down as it’s a cheap form of support. Is supporting of a roof structure cheaper than building a solar farm?

The future.of Krung Angkor solar factory have to be the sister company of Tesla factory

I am considering solar, in UK; so hearing Tesla Solar is ramping in UK/Europe is good news:-) More Indo on this would be helpful:-) Be well. Stay safe. Go Tesla go!

Whats it going to do to our climate when the globe is littered with solar panels all reflecting the suns light back into the ionosphere . Don't know the answer myself but consider it to be potentially devastating and possibly far worse than so called man made global warming .

CA is not a representative market. Solar is not ready for prime time yet unless you are off the grid. If it were actually economical the power companies would be buying them.

Low cost energy production: You have a water tank filled with degassed deionized water, the water then goes through black pipes held in glassed-in insulated boxes so sunlight is captured to heat the water "it can get hot enough to boil at sea level" the piping then goes to a spray nozzle where the hot water instantly vaporizes the steam then goes to a turbine that drives an electrical generator, after the turbine the steam and any water that condensed in it travel at a downward angle through a pipe with a condensation coil around it to a large vacuum chamber that has heat transfer fins inside this preheats water from a large reservoir tank that then feeds to the starting tank.
The constant rapid condensation of the steam combined with a volume of the vacuum chamber being 3x or larger than the volume of steam produce at any given time maintains the vacuum level so the process continues.

It not cost effective yet. New roof 7 k, solar roof 70k. Electric bill 3k per year. 20 year pay back at best case. Solar panels needs replacing at 30 years. People move on averages every 4 years. I would rather put 70k in the stock market. Over 30 the return would be over 500k. Solar is only philanthropic project not viable investment. Maybe by 2035 solar will be viable.

So…. I thought Solar City was teslas solar panel division?? Don’t they have different stock symbols?

plus pg&e closing people's power last year has made people think about getting it.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Merton says:

your figures seem weird $2.96 per watt x 300 =$888/per panel. Here in Australia I can buy a 300 watt panel for $129 dollars which is about $88.50 US.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Frank P says:

Explaining more about the cost and financial part of his solar panels would be appreciated

they have to do something with it, or write it down. acquiring solar city was a huge drag on their balance sheet.

Thank for the video and pointing this out. I am likely the consumer, and there are millions like me, that will drive this change. I will share how I am approaching this and looking at solar. My house needs a new roof within 5 years. The ROI for solar is about 8 years for me. Grid tie is the cheapest option, but no good during power failure. If I go with Tesla I get a better looking product, that I can in a power wall in the future and charge my car all off solar. Very strong contender when I go this route, they make it easy. I just need to understand the efficiency loss due to temperature vs a panel raised off the roof.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Cichoke says:

    Solar? SOLAR? BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Tesla solar, responsible for SEVERAL residential AND commercial fires! Roof tile systems that DON'T EVEN WORK YET! And you think a power generating source that is intermittent and only makes 20% of ADVERTISED capacity…under OPTIMAL conditions…for FIVE TO SIX HOURS EVERY DAY…is cheaper than natural gas? And EVERYONE is wanting to heat up their roof with solar panels?

    BWAAAAAAAHAHAHAR!

I am over waiting for this exciting new "Battery Day " that has been put back time after time after time … enough already tell us or go away until you can !!!

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mauricio Torres Madrid says:

In Colombia were the problems and not reliable energy generation and distribution makes it a very interesting market for solar generation by family units.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Oskam says:

Maybe Tesla is Setting the pieces in place to allow for Tesla Power to come into existense; it will depend on Tesla Solar installed base, since it can acces that power easier through the Autobidder app.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RogerM says:

Finally they move out from the tile design. Hope they now prioritize function over design.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Evgeny Zak says:

EM said energy business will outgrow EV, not solar alone. Batteries will be the largest chunk.
