The Tesla semi is often overlooked because the target audience is not consumers, but rather, companies of all sizes. In this video, I discuss why I believe the Tesla Semi will make hidden billions.

The Tesla semi is easy to overlook because of the fact that it doesn't target US consumers, but the vehicle is still a very important part if not the most important part of Tesla's business. Elon Musk has prioritized the Tesla semi over the roadster for two main reasons. The potential is a lot larger and there's a new guy on Wall Street talking down on the Elon, there's a lot of good about what you know. What Tess has done in the past to teach people that that electric vehicles can work.

But Nikola is the pioneer and heavy-duty trucking and Tesla's just really just following in our footsteps and a lot of them. You know a lot of them are really believed that Elon is like this, this great person that can do anything and it's when they see someone else being able to actually beat him at what he's doing. Maybe they hate that it's, so we only focus on markets that actually create revenue in any economy, and so it is a huge picture. There's no doubt there's very few people that can out Elon in this world and I'm one of them in this video.

I'm gon na explain why I believe the Tesla semi will be Tesla's most disruptive vehicle if you're new to the channel. Please consider subscribing for more content like this. With that being said, let's get right into it. When it comes to consumer vehicles, the efficiency is often overlooked because, most of us prioritize comfort, looks and performance.

However, with commercial vehicles, efficiency is the most important aspect of our vehicles. Companies do not care about whether or not a vehicle is comfortable, quiet or flashy. Businesses want to look for the vehicle that can maximize profitability. Tesla's new semi is by far the most cost efficient semi truck with the cost per mile at one dollar and 26 cents.

Its aerodynamics also allow for an efficient semi truck convoy, lowering the cost per mile to 85 cents gas-powered semi trucks are already being ruled out of the competition when compared to the electric semi trucks on the road right now with the Tesla semi fuel savings will be So humongous that it even beats the initial price of the semi Tesla's battery LEED will allow the company to easily out-compete other electric semi trucks on efficiency, acceleration and rain. Although Tesla's autonomy is not at the level where it can operate without a human driver, yet it may allow truck drivers to work longer hours or attracts truck drivers to companies that use Tesla semi. The enhanced autopilot would also improve safety by having automatic emergency braking automatic lane keeping and give warnings for forward collisions. It's no secret that driving is dangerous.

Truck drivers have to be on the road for a very long time, which increases the risk of a collision by a substantial amount with the enhanced autopilot. This means that if the truck driver has a heart attack is fatigued or simply isn't focusing, then the Tesla semi would still keep the semi in the lane. It is in an emergency brake if a collision is about to occur in the truck, and you have a medical emergency. The truck will stay in lane and gradually come to a halt and put on the Emergencies.
If it doesn't hear response for, you will actually call emergency services and get an ambulance, it's gon na take care of you. It's gon na take care of other cars can take care of pedestrians. This is a massive increase in safety. Currently truck drivers are limited to 70 hours per week, but if the driver was to just monitor the Tesla semi on autopilot, this would require less focus on the road and may lead to an increase in the maximum hours that a truck driver can be on the Road for if the maximum hours are not increased, then truck drivers would still want to drive for companies that use the Tesla semi, because it would be a lot less stressful to operate a semi on autopilot.

There currently is a shortage of truck drivers in the US, and that shortage is expected to double within the next decade. If companies do not use the Tesla semi blast truck drivers would work for them. Therefore, indirectly, forcing companies to purchase a Tesla, semi and once Tesla is able to achieve a level of full self-driving. The Tesla semi would easily be the most cost efficient semi out of them all.

Given the fact that companies don't have to hire truck drivers. This is an important edge that Tesla has over the other competitors, as companies like Nikola, Daimler and DUID do not have the same fleet that Tesla has with four electric motors the Tesla semi accelerates far faster than the current semi-trucks. This aspect is often overlooked because normal vehicles, like SUVs, already accelerate at a pace where it becomes more of a luxury. However, this is totally different with semi trucks.

Semi trucks have to constantly go uphill downhill, slow down from traffic and speed up. If going from zero to 60 takes 20 seconds instead of 30, this saves a lot of time, therefore leading to more profits for the company. Now at 80,000, pounds max gross vehicle weight, but that's the most amount of weight you can carry on a u.s. highway.

This is the real-time acceleration of a Tesla semi that on the left, the thing that looks like it's not moving is a diesel truck. The semi truck with the longest range right now is 250 miles, which is the Freightliner Cascadia Tesla's $ 180,000 version of the semi. Has a range of 500 miles, meaning that the semi may be able to ship from one destination to another without recharging. This saves plenty of time which is very valuable if you're the owner of a company when it comes to charging times, it may seem like a disadvantage for the Tesla semi compared to diesel trucks.

However, it's actually a major advantage. Typically, Tesla has a search for an available spot to place their superchargers. However, with Tesla's new mega charger for the semi, this won't be an issue. The magnet charger can be placed at the destinations.
A semi must go to as it can accommodate for the company using them. This allows you to charge a semi while unloading the vehicle saving plenty of time. The average semi truck takes around 25 minutes to unload the Tesla. Semi takes 30 minutes to charge with a mega charger, which means that truck drivers only have to wait in average of 5 minutes for the semi to charge.

To top it off, the Tesla semi likely won't need to be charged from 0 to 80 %. So if you're charging from 30 % to 80 %, this would mean that the charging time would be less than 25 minutes with the charging time of less than 25 minutes. This means that you don't even have to wait for the Tesla semi to charge. This is a lot faster than searching for the nearest gas station and driving there after you're done unloading, the semi and, as we all know, time is valuable from the perspective of a CEO.

If you drive for, if you drive for five or six hours, which is a that's about as much as you want to be driving continuously, you have to stop for bathroom break good, get a bite to eat, in fact, you're legally required to stop for thirty minutes. So but you, if four hundred miles, is like six plus a six to seven hours of driving, which means that what this means in practice is that by the time you are you're done with your break, but the truck is ready to go. You will not be waiting for your truck to charge. It's a big deal.

Tesla's new Sami has rumored to be using Tesla's new battery, which would mean that the semi would be able to last one million miles from a business perspective. This is important because it allows you to get the most profits out of the vehicle while having a full growth rate of 80,000 pounds in a 5 % uphill grade. The Tesla semi will top out at a speed of 60 miles per hour. This is a lot faster than the typical diesel semi, which would top out at a speed of 45 miles per hour, with the same load.

Having a faster top speed is just another important factor that will save time for those that purchase a semi. Now, how do we achieve this? One of the ways we do this? Is we design the Tesla truck to be like a bullet, so whereas a normal diesel truck is designed more like a barn wall? This is a bullet. You can see this in the drag coefficient. So the Tesla semi has 0.36 drag over to the way.

This is a really good number, as by way of comparison of a bugatti chiron, which is a 2 million-dollar. Supercar has a point. Three eight drag coefficient. This.

It's got a better drag coefficient than a supercar, probably that is with the bull shaped nose. We also have side flaps that map to the whatever trail you're, pulling where it's a new trailer or old trailer, but the side flaps will map to whatever trail you're pulling and close the gap. While it may seem as if there's a lot of competition in the electric semi space, Tesla semi, easily outcompetes, the other semi trucks hitting the market, for example, the nicola one cost three hundred fifty thousand dollars for a truck, which is almost double the price of the Tesla semi saving on the price of semi trucks is extremely important for companies looking to purchase a semi, while the Tesla semi may not be able to out-compete with a nicola one on certain specs. You can certainly out compete on price when compared to the other semi trucks from Daimler, PACCAR, Volvo and BYD Tesla's battery lead has proven to be a major advantage when it comes to efficiency, price acceleration and range along with this Tesla semi is able to provide one Major aspect that other automakers are not able to autopilot: the competition is truly underwhelming within the semi truck space and Tesla semi will be Tesla's most destructive vehicle.

Could one driver be the leader and the others just follow him and the drivers even could sleep ? Throughput on higheways would be much higher than nowadays. It would be like a very long snake of Semis, going all with exaclty the same speed.

I love Tesla cars and I hope to own a cybertuck but the semi is the most exciting vehicle as far as reshaping the future of transportation and also as an investor

This is fantastic, when TESLA starts to make heavy equipment ( dump trucks excevators etc) it will be check mate

Imagine, companies installing megachargers that charge the semi when it is being unloaded/loaded, as well as cafรฉs and loos were people take breakers. When you do you business, eating or doing a 1 or 2, the truck would charge.. That would eliminate most of the charging time.

Tesla's semi truck is a reality that is currently used by Tesla to transport equipment. The Nikola semi does not exist. It's a shell that lacks self-propulsion.

Unless Tesla improves those milage in a charge is going to be a flop. Truckers need something that is going to last more than 200 miles in a charge. Truckers donโ€™t want to sit around and wait to charge for a few hours.

Don't take truck drivers jobs into slave labor levels! Very bad idea to increased hours for duty in or on any vehicle driving or monitoring conditions. Recently the FMCA increased driving hours and increased resting periods caused unintended detrimental effects upon drivers in areas of insufficient rest due to excessive on duty driving in adverse conditions like weather, traffic, lack of rest area parking.

How many Truck Drivers will Tesla put out of work into poverty? Why doesn't Tesla make a A.I. vbloger to put you out of work? Or is that what you are. Tesla needs better solutions than making products that take peoples' jobs who desperately need them to survive and have a quality of Life that they have worked their whole Lives for.

There is a lot of false information in this video, a diesel truck has a range well over 500 miles and no thier top speed is not 45 mph, most semis can go 80

    Couple of things,
    #1
Insurance companies can't charge machines premiums. The insurance companies have lots of millions upon billions of dollars by charging humans what could happen. The government (DOT) is run by Republicans, SO how much money do you really think they will let people like Musk take from their pockets via taxes or fees. Nice story though

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dylan Lewis says:

Actually guys, the only thing this video overlooked was production price. If the tesla semi costs 180 thousand dollars, but also costs 170 thousand to construct. Then there is not much profit. So I'd like to know the production cost?

Here are he numbers for SEMI TRUCK: typical weight of the rig 36 tons max. width / height 2.5m/4.1 m CD = 0.36 , rolling resistance = 0.012. Required power at 100 km/h (60MPH) = 153.27 KW.
Battery 1000 KWH. Range 400 miles at 60 MPH. IT IS ALL FEASIBLE!!!!!!!!! ROLLING RESISTANCE POWER IS 2 TIMES BIGGER THAT AIR RESISTANCE POWER (107.91 KW vs 45.36 KW. It can go 65 mph, no sweat. if you need i can give you revised numbers for 65mph. Some folks ask about uphill, here are some figures , 5 deg uphill 50 mph speed , you will need 800 kW OF POWER., I do not think TESLA will have a problem with this power requirements. BTW. diesel would require 800*1.34 = 1040 HP !!!!! to keep up, good luck!!!!!!

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Crushed Luminary says:

If one understood the trucking industry (Elon doesn't), you'd know that the batteries alone displace cargo in legal highway weight laws. This means prices for everyday goods WILL increase, because the shipper will have to split loads. Here's another major problem… 1 hour charge times… where? At a normal U.S. truck stop, you get one standard size parking space, and there aren't that many (over crowding is already a thing). Trucks more often than not, have to back in a narrow slot, in between two parked trucks. Where then…. is the charge station supposed to go? I's suggest the non OTR (Over The Road trucker), check out some trucking channels, ie. "JBG Travels" (you'll see more channels in the side list), to see how everyday operations work.

OK I have been a over the road truck ๐Ÿš›driver for now,11 years. There are some serious issues with this Tesla tractor trailer first creature comforts for the over the road driver how does the person stay warm in -30ยฐ weather how does a all electric tractor trailer do in a 700 mile day with heavy snow and heavy salt all over the road how does that truck handle with ๐ŸงŠ new trucks constantly have electrical issues I canโ€™t imagine, this thing wonโ€™t have electrical issues. and where in the world is the maintenance going to be done Or the infrastructure to charge it or maintain it and what is the cost compared to a standard diesel operated truck thereโ€™s just a lot of things. I donโ€™t see truckstops just letting people freely charge the Tesla trucks and as a truck driver you donโ€™t get to stop at Truck Stops all the time sometimes on the side of the road or at a rest area this might work for Walmart dedicated stores maybe even warehouses but definitely not all over the US most of the US still has old school 1950s at best 1980s infrastructure and warehouses all over the place. Trucking Industry, is not the car industry to me this seems nothing more than a pipe dream ๐Ÿ›Œ

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian kumpan says:

to bad you can't take the Nikoli design and adapt it to your trucks? Not the hydrogen part but the body design of the truck (since he is out of business now for fraud).

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian kumpan says:

will Tesla Semi's use the new camera mirror on the left and right sides of the truck? They have been approved to replace those bulky mirrors they put on trucks now and besides they could put the camera's (left and right) at the top of the door which if You ever drove a truck, where the mirrors are now, is a big blindspot for Truck Drivers

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jonathan Adikarta says:

but Tesla is already winning right? they already have working prototype and already on the road (prototype)
where's other? there's not even a single working prototype, let alone mass producing

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Aussie Taipan says:

A class trucks are governed by gross mass at 36 tonnes, this is the
truck and its payload. The Tesla batteries alone are very heavy and cost
almost the same as a diesel truck. With the Tesla payload greatly
reduced due to the battery weight truckies will go bang for buck –
diesel. The best alternative solution is H2 fuel cells which give the
trucks the range and payload to make money.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James West says:

Driving through the USA late at night, Semi Trucks travel in excess of 90 miles an hour. 60 mph will not seem attractive to truck drivers.
