Tesla already has gigafactories already built or in construction in China, Europe, and the US. The fourth largest automobile market for Tesla to disrupt is Japan. In this vIdeo, I discuss why I believe Tesla will soon build a gigafactory in Japan.

Tesla already has 42 factories that are in construction or that are fully built. These factories are built in the three largest automobile markets. Worldwide Tesla has one Giga Factory in China, 2 Giga factories in the US and one Giga factory in the European Union. Yuan musta stated that he would like to build as many as 10 or 12 Giga factories around the world.

Japan is not only a wealthy country, but it is also one of the largest markets for electric vehicles in this video. I'm gon na discuss why I believe Tesla will soon build a Giga factory in Japan if you're new to the channel, please consider hitting that subscribe button with that being said, let's get right into it. Japan is known for its battery technology suppliers. In fact, for the Model S & X, Panasonic makes the battery cells in Japan and exports them to.

California. Tesla has previously explored Japan as a possible site for its Giga factory in 2015, but it didn't make sense back then, given the fact that the company had plenty of other larger markets to disrupt like Europe, the US and China. However, now Tesla already has Giga factories that are in construction or existing in these areas. Building a Giga factory in Japan would mean saving plenty of money on imports, as many of Tesla's current suppliers are already in Japan before Tesla places a gigafactory in a country.

It's important for Tesla to have a strong supercharging network in that area. This makes sense, given the facts that superchargers take a much longer time to expand than Giga factories. For example, if we take a look at China, the country already has plenty of superchargers throughout the country. Even before the Shanghai Giga factory was built.

Take a look at a number of superchargers at the end of 2014. Now take a look at the number of superchargers at the end of 2015, as we can see, Tesla was expanding its supercharging network, not just in China, but also in Japan. If we take a look at Europe, Tesla already has plenty of superchargers in Berlin before the gigafactory is even done building now, if we take a look at Japan, we can see that there are now plenty of superchargers for a rather tiny space. Japan has been quick to adopt electric vehicles in comparison to other countries, and this is primarily because the Japanese government has provided a boatload full of incentives for electric vehicles.

These incentives include tax rebates and subsidies, Road tax or toll subsidies, charging stations within the vicinity of housing in work, free or subsidized parking, lots for electric cars, special insurance plans for electric cars and priority or special lanes for electric cars. Needless to say, there are plenty of incentives for electric vehicles in Japan and, as Tesla was to build a Giga factory in Japan, it's almost inevitable that Tesla vehicles will sell well as an electric vehicle manufacturer. Tesla must use plenty of rare earth metals for its batteries. Infotainment screen and much more for the past decade, China has always been the largest supplier of these metals.
However, in 2018, Japan discovered a supply of 16 million tons worth of rare earth metals enough to supply the earth for over six centuries. This supply has yet to be exploited, but it could prove the save Tesla a lot of money if exploited Tesla has been rumored to be working on a compact vehicle that will start his production in China, and this vehicle will without a doubt, be popular in Japan. Japan's narrow streets, cramped, parking spaces and aging society makes compact vehicles extremely popular in Japan, other automakers notice, and have revealed their upcoming compact vehicles. The most notable one is the Nissan imk.

These type of vehicles have their own niche in Japan and Tesla's release of a compact vehicle with definitely sell. Well, let me know what you think about Tesla Japan in the comments section below. If you enjoyed this video, please hit the like button and subscribe with. That.

Being said, I'll see you in the next one.

Unfortunately Japan is very "anti-EV" in general. Of course there are fans of Tesla, and other electric cars, but generally no one knows or cares about them. Only when all electric cars have a 500km+ range for the exact same price as a gasoline car will they take off. Currently they are quite expensive, and as we all know most other manufacturers outside of Tesla don't have good range.

pls, build a gigafactory in Tochigi prefecture, Japan that''s already built NISSAN and HONDA factory.

Japan will be a good production base for left hand drive cars. Japan is also best in class fine quality workmanship.

Tesla’s supercharger game is on another level, that’s why it’s hard for other car brands to compete. Tesla already going around the world rapidly and placing a shit ton all over

I would not let him do it in Japan. Here is simply why. He does even know how to hook up batteries to get their full potential. Also until of if he has gotten the problem fixed, I would check first because the batteries he uses has a very bad time of catching fire or unless all of those vehicles that did was done on purpose or an test to see if what effect the energy weapons would have on them. Japan choice although my opinion bases on his car performance I would take great concern. Get the facts first. Always do your own research for the trolls that will attack what facts I said. If facts are that much to handle then we all know their is no hope for you. Watch your back Japan. The vehicles are already proven to be garbage unless he did make some very big changes.

People who choose to give a thumbs down to videos such as this one mystify me. This video is initially running at a down/up ratio of 1/40. My guess now is that most of these are the anti-Tesla obsessed idiots who make it their goal to obstruct. So this sad group waste their lives by clicking on every video that comes up when they enter 'Tesla' in the YouTube search box, and giving it a thumbs down.

I would like to buy a Tesla made in Korea over one made in Japan to avoid the radioactive contamination from
    nuclear power plant.

Don’t agree on the supercharger network
    Still pretty weak here
Speed limits are low here so it nearly takes twice as long to go anywhere and most stations only have a few stalls

A Tesla factory in Japan/Robotic Wonderland, sure. Inconjunction with localized design house. I envision one day, best of each country will be available to all Tesla customer.

Build the factory in Chiba east coast then you can also build the startship landing platform in the sea there ..
Chiba ground is not that expensive especially after the Olympics !!
Also Chiba will support it ..
and build it in the country side at the beach !!!

If they will do that I will try to work there !!

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars philip krueger says:

That would be great! Building in Germany AND Japan? Tesla would stand up and stomp the $hit outta Japan like Godzilla!

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars huss1205 says:

I don’t think they will build one there, building the Shanghai factory was to cover that region and supply Japanese and all east and west Asia markets. Berlin factory will take forever to build, you can not build quickly in Europe, bureaucracy and holidays and unions, unless your contractor is a Chinese company…

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Carter Harvey says:

There would need to be some major economic incentives for Tesla to build another GF just for Japan, when they have one just across the sea in China. The cost differential is land in Japan vs the cost of land, duties, and shipping from China. Not sure there's a good argument there.

Japan is all in on hydrogen. And what seems counterintuitive may actually be a stroke of genius when fusion is solved. Most expensive part of a hydrogen system is making the hydrogen. Guess what a byproduct of fusion can be?

In terms of popularity and government's subsidizies, South Korea is much bigger market.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hfe18 says:

It will be a great great idea, since South East countries will be benefits , already Tesla is Ev king imported car in South Korea

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars 1943vermork says:

I heard a year ago that Tesla wasn’t selling much in Japan.
Also currents Tesla are too big for Japan taste.
Some Japanese cars have an international version and a local version which is 5 to 10% smaller to save on material cost, fuel consumption and space.
Not sure Tesla can crack that specific market.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars TodayPerson says:

Japan will be just a market but not a location for a gigafactory. Engineering is looked down on in Japan and conventionalism prevents a fast innovative culture. They are ok following and not leading.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars R N says:

If you ask me India would make a lot more sense.. Physically Japan isn't really far from Shanghai.. But it is very far from South East Asia, Middle East and India.. You get much larger target audience and much cheaper labour in India..

If it wasn't for political problems another great place would be Iran. An educated population that works for cheap. With their location they could sell to emerging markets that will be growing.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dantinus says:

Where exactly can Tesla build a gigafactory in Japan when land are so expensive in Japan?

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Machíne says:

May build another factory in China first as their market is so big, but I definitely see a GF in Japan at some point.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars CELESTIN PAULIN LEYGONIE 111 says:

COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE , PLACES LIKE JAPAN AND AFRICA IS PLACES THAT TESLA CAN MAKE MEGA-BUGS IF THEY BRING OUT A SMALLER , CHEAPER MODEL THAN THE MODEL 3 !!!!

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars David Johnson says:

Sorry dude but from that picture Japan doesn't have enough super chargers. It's 100 million people in an area smaller than California. So the density needs to be incredibly high for super chargers. But if Tesla got going in Japan with a sub compact as well as a mini car they could demolish the competition.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars shepherdsknoll8 says:

Some markets will be more suitable for a smaller economy model. Japan will probably be one of those markets.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doug Johnson says:

The design and range is going to make this compact Tesla amazing. Just think.. three hundred plus miles or less. Good suspension and ride quality. All glass roof to see the heavens. 30 k for the top of the line model.
