Hertz Orders 100,000 Teslas in Rental-Market Shake-Up.
So let me ask you a question when you come up to a rental agency and you need a car and i can give you two choices. You can either have a model 3 by tesla or you can have a hyundai whatever i don't know, honda or a toyota standard sedan bare naked base model, which one they're going to take. I mean it's kind of obvious now for the rental company. It also makes sense to give out these teslas.
Why? Well, because they don't break down less time in the shop they're easier and cheaper to maintain no engine. You just change the tires every once in a while and they're safer people don't die less liability. It has like max stars and every crashing test possible and the autopilot and the active support system are the best in the market, so safest cars cheaper to maintain and people love them way more than guys cars. Obviously anybody would prefer tesla unless you gordon johnson, so why am i talking about this well because this morning and this can't wait for me to get to the office - i'm headed there right there right now.
Sorry right there, according to bloomberg article just came out this morning, tesla just hit the jackpot hertz the company that took a lot of hurts and went through bankruptcy now emerging out of bankruptcy, just put an order for 100 000 vehicles for the next 14 months. So we're talking about 4.2 billion in revenue for tesla for the next 14 months. Model 3 is mainly i'm assuming a few model wise as well, but mainly model 3 and hertz is paying full price, no standard discounts. I don't know if you guys know this, but in the rental business, when you buy a huge fleet, you usually get a discount, you buy the base bear model, but these guys are paying full price because obviously tesla has no incentive to give them any sort of Discounts i mean the demand is already much greater than the supply anyways, so full price, which is a very nice precedent for tesla as far as fleets go - and this is actually the first time anybody's going to do this now for her.
It's actually a very smart move beyond the fact that tesla is going to make a lot of money. Gordon johnson is going to come up with an expectation. You know how. In yugoslavia the rental company is still perverse, like hugo is selling out the the tesla 103.
Whatever we don't give a beyond that for her, it's actually a smart play, they're the guy coming out of bankruptcy. They need to reinvent something they need to do something different than everybody else. The rental market has been kind of known to be slow, stagnant and old. Nothing has changed in the rental vehicle market for ages, old, ass, bare based cars - it's just so they're gon na come up with this amazing vehicle.
Clients will be happier it's gon na be cheaper to maintain it gives a lot of pizzazz. I think hers are doing a really nice play and they get to use the supercharger network, so these cars are going to be really easy to use on a daily basis. For for renters i mean just a great move for everybody all around. I'm sorry, gordon, your prediction will not come true. I'm it's not going to happen buddy, so you might do the adam jonas and actually come on board we'd like to welcome you. It's very nice up here in any case, say shout out to everybody. I said for a whole year by the way the test is a fifteen hundred dollar stock, adam jonas from morgan stanley finally joined me at 1200.. I'll see you at 1500, adam good news for tesla.
See you in a few minutes when i do my actual video about janet yellen and the proposed unrealized capital gains tax. I'm gon na be happy, see you in a few minutes.
Not just an order for 100,000 model 3's. It's an "initial" order. More to come.
My strategy is; buy quality companies, expect to hold no matter what, pay up but don’t over pay, keep track, sell rarely, be ready to course correct
Tom, we gotta stay on the Missy Cummings story. Even though she has resigned from the board, we need proof she no longer holds shares in competitive technologies. Given her very public opposition to Tesla's approach to FSD, FUD in peer reviewed papers she edited out, we can not just forget about it and switch to the next news cycle.
Tom – you might be old enough to remember that Hertz original football spokesperson was OJ Simpson… a huge part of their brand at the time.
Hey Tom, can you make a video about how and when to take profits? I know you're a long term, somewhat conservative investor and I have the same approach so it would be cool to hear you talk about your strategy for how/when to take profits.
I used to love this guy, but I gotta turn notifications off. This channel is all Cathie Wood, Palantir, and Tesla Tesla Tesla.
AND, you failed to mention, by the time Hertz gets all these hundred thousand cars, Tesla will be out with FSD 5 and these cars will be fully autonomous robots on wheels; which means they don't have to hire any drivers!!! People can ask for a car from anywhere, the cars would come to them and then they can just get off anywhere and the cars will go back by themselves to some charging station and wait for the next guy to call it !!
This will change the car hire business for ever !
Hey Tom Nash i crushed my first options play, Ive been studying options since February when i first started trading and i was always intimidated by options because i never understood them fully but after 8 months i picked up 7 calls anticipating this TSLA earnings rally, so i grabbed three 10/29's 940c 950c 1000c, three 11/05's 1000c 1200c 1500c and a lonely 10/29 750 p. i started the week at 20k after entering the positions on the 18th, planning for the big earnings announcement and of course the next day Tesla traded flat and then came more IV crush the day after earnings, so on the 21st the trade went against me so i averaged down on a few calls and held it overnight, bad idea, i ended the week at 16k and a day trade call. come monday morning pre market i was pleasantly surprised to see telsa was to open at 950 and ended today up 741% at 61k. thanks to all you guys giving us the DD and selflessly teaching us who are hungry to learn! thank you tom.
Going to have to rethink the damage waiver. Not sure my CC will cover a repair bill for a Tesla. Hopefully there don’t ask you to prepay for energy. That would cause to many people to return the Tesla close to zero.
$4.2b order in one shot is pretty ground breaking. Endless good news for Tesla.
when i rent cars, i avoid the premium models because of the cost.
Didn’t even know hertz was still alive until they printed me some tendies via tesla.
Managed to close out my put options for 750, 800 & 850 for a nice gain.
Dude your click bait thumbnails and titles are becoming insufferable.
This video made me buy 10 more shares. When Tom makes a video that can't wait. 😁
Here are your choices. You can have a car that you can stop and get gas for and be on your way in 10 minutes.
Or take this Tesla that need to be charged every 350-400 miles if the temperature is right. And it will take you an hour to sit at that charger. Oh, and it is unlikely that government will allow Hertz to not pay a per mile fee. Since gas taxes pay for road maintenance etc.
You and everyone else can’t hold it anymore! Congratulations
Another way to advertise the cars with Hertz. Great move
It is also the equivalent of 100,000 potential Tesla car buyers taking a test drive.
That's what I thought when hertz filed for bankruptcy and started disposing their ice fleets. They saw the writing on the wall. I knew it they are switching to ev. Very proactive move.
Safest cars? I saw a tweet by a woman that said tesla has literally killed people soo idk man
Why rent from Hertz if you can summon a Tesla Robo direct?
Trevor Milton must be weeping buckets of tears…, he could share a broadcast cell with GLJ… 🤣😉…, get his “message” out from there… 🤣🤣🤣😉
You are a Math guy Tom. How many Teslas can be delivered monthly to cover these order without hurting the already set order of cars already sold by Tesla. something is not right. good publicity for both companies. hello from Caracas
An update is simply not complete without mention of our good old friend GLJ.
