If this next recession ever hits, how safe is my money in the bank? Is my money safer in my portfolio? Thanks. Great channel btw

I like your chart setup. By coincidence I did the same thing at the same time you uploaded this video and added two custom time frames to get the same results. The e-mini looks the same as the spy. I also modified Fibonacci and the highest level matches the high of price action. Price action has created flat top resistance at the highest Fibonacci level and appears to eventually make a third bounce off the Fibonacci level to creating a head and shoulder pattern.

Normally, this would mean a possible turn to the downside confirmed by indicators and oscillators, but that is not certain. The Fed can continue to prop up the economy and resistance can be broken to continue the bull run.

I promised myself that once I became profitable I will move all of my money out of the bank and only keep a certain portion in for liquidity. I would keep a portion to trade with in a broker account and no more due to withdraw rules, equities, gold, ETF's, money market account, not sure about CD'd, will look more into pensions due to legal protection, real estate of course, stable blue chips that also pay dividends, make maximum deposit allowed per year into an IRA.

I might also get a job as a day trader to be on the inside and personally benefit from the experience and knowledge.

CD's are dead, I had one growing up, matured when I turned 18. It was made in the early 80's, but after it matured I had no where to put it, because CD's were not earning anything worthwhile. I ended up moving it over to a Money market account at that time, another bank offered low rate of return. Today that money is invested real estate, which earns me monthly income. It's like I added additional family members in terms of generating income. The only risk is property damage, catastrophic or otherwise, and tenants not paying rent, significant but manageable through insurance and proper vetting.

Young people need to start taking advantage of employer matched 401k's and Roth IRA's and taking advantage of their tax efficiency.

    Thanks a lot!

I agree that if your intentions are to grow your money, you aren't going to do that by keeping it in a savings or checking account. The interest rate is too low. A good book to read about long term investing is The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham (Warren Buffet's mentor). It talks about holding equities and CDs, and how much of each depending on interest rates. It covers a lot of other topics as well.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Auto Barry says:

I agree but your emergency fund should be liquid and available easily.

I don't feel the need to comment on every video, but people need to know this information ! Anyone who says this is click Bate should watch what some other people post on YouTube. 15 years of school and not a single teacher ever said this in class. Granted I may be behind the curve, but after studying the market for the last year I believe I'm now ahead of 40-60% of the general population. Great video brother. I should have been forced to pay for this lol.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Lib Y says:

is there any difference in investing in the spy rather than the actual snp500 fund? Please respond it will mean alot.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars rettneckcrypto says:

Absolutely agree. But for those emergency funds, I found a bank that slips under the radar sometimes called (no joke) Redneck Bank out of Oklahoma that pays 3.0 percent on checking accounts up to 10,000 dollars. Check it out..their tagline is "Where bankins funner" lol

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Miracle says:

Would you suggest just buying shares of the SPY (or another ETF) or would it be better to invest in a mutual fund?

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Christian Höfer says:

In my opinion you re right with investing is crutial for building wealth
But i also believe that having money at the bank for " buying a new persian carpet " ( had no better example 😀 ) is important as well

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars The82bstewart says:

Got any good mutual fund suggestions.. Or investments along them lines for parking money in the market other then the S&P 500.. I'm looking for place's to park money that have out performed the S&P..

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Reyah D says:

Can u do a video on taxes n being a day trader. Trader tax status.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alan Ramos says:

Great video, my only question, is SPY what you’d recommend? Or would you distribute it your money into big companies within the stock market? AAPL, etc

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doctor Who 2002 says:

out of dumb luck i entered the stock market just as the correction was happening. i'm still in the red after 6 months by -5%. so, i wouldn't put all my money in the stock market yet. instead, i put half of my $ in Ally bank since rumor has it there will be a recession in 2020. then i will buy more stock

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alex Eliason says:

    Ally Bank!

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dan says:

Clickbait title. Should you invest your retirement savings in the stock market as opposed to a savings account at your local bank? Absolutely. Should you keep an emergency fund, down payment for a car/house, funds you'll need in the short term (i.e 1-3 years) etc. in the market as opposed to a bank? Absolutely not.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars teigrgwyn says:

and what about the overnight fees by holding the stocks overnight?

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scotch says:

invest in SPY, reinvest your dividend earnings
