The float is the freely-tradable shares of a stock. The stock market is heavily based on the supply/demand model, and the float is the supply.
A low float stock is a stock with very limited supply. In most circles we could consider it to be a stock with less than 10 million shares. Low float stocks are likely to be more volatile, because it’s easier for those shares to change in price. Higher float stocks can move quickly too, but they need much more volume and buyers.
More traders may be attracted to a low float stock if it has news or a catalyst for price change. High demand with limited supply means volatile price action.
The great thing about low float stocks is every now and then, we see three or four of these stocks a week that will move 200 - 500% in one day. Sometimes, it can only take a few traders and questionable news alerts to make prices rocket.
Remember, there's always risk and reward in trading. Low float stocks move quickly, but they can also reverse just as quickly. You should be paper trading and testing these stocks, until your discipline is on point and can stick to a solid trade plan.

    Thanks for the explanation 👍
What’s a good time to enter trades on low float stocks trading with high volume before the market open?

Thanks for your explanation of low float. I am a fairy new trader and have a page few under 20 subscribers. When I started learning how to trade I became obsessed with low floats by default. I assumed the the market was governed by supply/demand and when I understood float I set my compass in the direction of low floats specifically. My colleague and I have been able to call quite a few +300% swing trades holding two weeks max before taking profit. I liked the video and subscribed to your channel. If you read this I'd appreciate if you would do the same as I am attempting to grow my as well. Salute and good luck with your trades 👍

How do you feel about low float stocks? Do you agree us considering a low float stock with less than 10 million shares in the float?

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Scott says:

Yeah I love low floats too they're my favorite. Anything under 10 mil is best too I agree. If the relative volume is high and with a catalyst they can rip. I'm trading JMIA again today. A 13-G & D filed yesterday. So half the float is locked up that's why it's moving. Was at 13.5 mil now it's at 6.75
