If you want to be a consistent short seller, you gotta have the right broker. Not every broker will have shares for you to borrow and short.
Like Huddie, you can use multiple brokers. Some have hot and cold seasons. Some require you to have a bigger margin or cash account to join, and some have fewer requirements...
So it’s super important that you do your research. Be very thorough in your decision. Make sure you make a list of all your criteria … Then find the brokers that can suit you best.
Tune in to the video to learn about a few brokers — including their pros, cons, and limitations.
Remember, if you’re pursuing short selling, you MUST have discipline! Too many new traders rush in without the proper skills, education, or foundation. And having the wrong broker is a common mistake a lot of newbies make.
If you end up stuck with a broker that doesn’t allow you to borrow shares, you might start ignoring the plays you know best. If you start ignoring those plays, you could end up in random trades … and that ultimately leads to random results.
And you gotta learn to keep your emotions in check.
Remember, short selling is a difficult strategy. So if you’re gonna do it, do it well. Take time to consider your approach. Find the right broker for your setups. And, of course, learn to stay disciplined, put in the time and effort, and find consistency before you start branching out.

Can we short selling stocks with leverage? I think 10X leverage is enough..
Retail brokers are pretty much scams. Only a few on YouTube actually go into the real world aspect of how the brokers use retail traders to make profits. My advice is quit chasing dreams and focus on logic and where you can actually make money with your hard-earned cash.
Trading reminds me of when I work in the casino. People knew that in and out of a game and could make a profit but it took a while.
I had a talk with brokerage and they are staying that because I did two purchases of a SELL (this is for short selling) position and then I did a BUY transaction at a lower price on the same day, thus making profit, because I made 2 sell transactions, its counted as 2 day trades.
I argued that if I purchased a sell position, 10 times and if I then made profit by the BUY transaction, by his logic that would make 10 day trades in one day. He basically said that was correct.
Is it me or is that wrong?
Thanks

When I want to short on IB (minimum is 2k) if there are no borrows, the order just won't go through. Then the next day, you'll get an email saying that shares are available. But I keep hearing about "reserving shares" so that you can choose to short, how does that happen? Is it in a Pro IB account? Or something from a high net broker?
Is cobra or centerpoint better for located prices?
