After hitting $120 per barrel of crude oil, the price dropped all the way to $77 as of the end of September 2022. Mainly due to expectations of a slow down in demand due to an upcoming global recession. Cheap oil is great for the gas pump, its awesome for the economy, its very important in reducing inflation and mostly it is CRITICAL in winning the US mid term elections in November. But happened yesterday, was very strange. OPEC plus members countries decided to slash two million barrels a day from production, in a move to push up oil prices. As a result the price per barrel of crude started going back up and is nearing $90 per barrel. So what just happened and why?

F the Saudi leader. Perhaps a mass fracking is in order and drive their price down to $10 per barrel.

Which party is more favorable for the big oils ??? Answer is pretty obvious. This is exactly the reason countries should be more energy independent from big oils. Just take a look at oil companies record profit the last 2 quarters. This is all BS!

well.. we can thank Biden for this.. calling an allied a murderer, is never smart. is MBS a murderer maeby yes, but so is America, so dont come on your high horse, and act righteous. he sholud have ceept his mouth shut, and let Tyrkey and the Saudies handle it them self. Now Biden can reap what he sowed.

Biden can just give 50% off for American EV then tell OPEC to get lost and all the oil companies

No major impact on oil prices post-OPEC announcement. Probably because OPEC's influence on global oil prices has diminished as the USA has become the largest producer. OPEC may have had nefarious intent in reducing production, but I doubt the USA/Biden Administration experiences any real impact.

I will remind everyone that Crown prince ( a contested title) Bin Salman is not the king of Saudi Arabia. He can learn from Noriega, Saddam Hussein, Mobutu or Khadafi. You donโ€™t play games with USA national security matters. How does he think he can lower the oil supply when the USA oil reserve is depleted? Believe it or not, he will not be missed if a small accident happened to him. I hope he is bluffing but if he is not, he is on a losing side๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

Buddy, you forgot the "victory lap" when Biden lowered prices. (Just remember, when it goes up, the president doesn't control prices).

SPR, Strategic Petroleum Reserves are being used. And those reserves are dwindling at this rate they will be exhausted by this time next year.
Anyone can look go look at the reserves online from month to month.
Everyone in Washington is " just trying to make it to Friday " attitude.
It is kind of exciting in a train wreck sort of way.

Maybe we should just quit supplying the Saudis with US military equipment and parts. When youโ€™re ready to play ball let us know.

It's a little deeper than that imo I think the world sees America and its culture and thinks they've gone soft whereas they would have assassinated leaders and overthrown governments with their tool the CIA they're calling their Bluff and don't think they'll do it anymore.
Guess we'll see what happens in the next 6 months, does US retain its gripper control or not.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jon Bradford says:

Look at these fools blaming the Saudis. This is Biden's fault. We should be producing more oil here and taxing the hell out of gasoline (not diesel for truckers).

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rosanna DeVita says:

So that means we will resort to Venezuelan dirty oil and increase pollution not to mention ruin our cars. Oh letโ€™s not forget we gave our reserves to China which sold it to Europe. What a joke this administration is!!!!

I just read a good interview by Catsimatidis an oil refinery CEO… If biden opened up the XL pipeline we would be out of high inflation, the recession and the Fed wouldn't need to keep raising interest rates, makes total sense. All our refineries can only refine the crude that comes from mostly Canada, the refineries refuse to invest billions to be able to refine the SWEET oil that comes from fracking and shale drilling because the current Govt hates fossil fuel, so why take a chance on that long term investment?
I really believe the administration's plan all along is to cripple the middle class wealth for easier control, thus crashing the stk market by raising interest rates. It sounds like a conspiracy theory, but makes total sense. JM$.02

Fk OPEC! In the 1970's I was stuck in gas lines waiting for gas due to the embargo and I had no choice. Now I have an EV and power it from my Solar. EV prices are high now because production is still ramping, but you can buy a used Leaf or Bolt for relatively cheap and use it to commute.
