Let’s talk about the dangers of shorting hit pieces.
In case you’re not familiar with the term, a hit piece is an article designed to sway public opinion on a particular subject. They’re often highly biased and may have self-serving motives.
Plenty of short sellers see a hit piece, fail to do any additional research, and jump into a trade.
Usually, these aren’t well-seasoned traders. They’re dudes with Cheetos dust on their fingers and greed in their hearts.
Here’s what I’m watching today…
I’m not done ranting about meme stonk short sellers! Today, people think it’s a great idea to short AMC Entertainment Holdings Inc. (NYSE: AMC) because they just announced that they’re giving away free popcorn as a promo.
Are you serious? Shorting a WallStreetBets favorite with a tied-up stock float for a reason like that?
I’ll be watching it for continued squeezes — reclaims of highs, whole dollar and half-dollar levels...

Another WallStreetBets play is in action today — BlackBerry Ltd. (NYSE: BB). I actually think this company has some long-term potential.
As of the premarket, I’d love a dip and rip over $14...
There was a 4 a.m. short seller smoke-out this morning on Vertex Energy Inc. (NASDAQ: VTNR) … As of the premarket it was red, but I think if it goes from red to green, we could be back in action.
I’d love to see an afternoon move and a continued squeeze on this one...
Talk about a textbook low float dip and rip contender. Briacell Therapeutics Corp. (NASDAQ: BCTX) is the low float du jour. It’s got a 6.7 million float with 8 million shares traded in the premarket.
My ideal scenario? A big spike, VWAP consolidation in the premarket, and a weak open. That could be the bait that lures in shorts. At that point, if there’s a reclaim of the $7 level, it could be a great dip-and-rip contender with a risk level set at $6.50.
There was recently a hit piece on Microvision, Inc. (NASDAQ: MVIS) … It’s currently nearly back at $20. There are a ton of bagged retail shorts in this stock. I think that if it does indeed break that $20 level, it’ll blow them up.
Yep — I’m into Skillz Inc (NYSE: SKLZ). It’s a Cathie Wood pick. It’s a WallStreetbets favorite. It’s a SPAC. It’s a hot sector — e-gaming. It has news. I love it as a potential late-day VWAP hold.
