Okay, if you've been watching the videos on my channel recently, you'll know that i just finished my first ever rental property renovation. If you didn't know that, then you need to hit the subscribe button like right now now, but as we just finished this project, i wanted to share a couple of really cool tricks that we did to keep cost incredibly low while still getting a pretty amazing. Look in the kitchen, so let's go okay, so first i need to show you what this kitchen looked like before the remodel it had gross. Looking tile ugly countertops older hardware, there were no doors and overall the kitchen just looked dated in black.

It needed to be brought to the 21st century just like the rest of this project, so instead of doing a full kitchen remodel, that would probably cost me north of six to seven grand with new cabinets, new countertops new sinks, new appliances, everything i decided to try To challenge myself and get creative, which is when i actually found this film on amazon, which is actually pretty popular. I guess so. I figured i'd, give it a shot and also there's a bunch of cheaper film like this on amazon, but i went for something a little thicker and durable to, hopefully last a little longer than the super cheap stuff for like 20 30 bucks. I will also leave a link to all the products that i used in the description of this video in case.

You want to check them out, but this durable prime vinyl material is supposed to be waterproof and oil proof and for 84 square foot of film. I figured 79.99 is a steal to try something new that could potentially save me 2 500 in getting brand new countertops installed. I do kind of want to talk about the install process, real quick because it was actually a giant pain in the butt at first now. Again, i went for the thicker type of film, so it made installing this a lot harder because it wasn't as forgiving as you were molding it around.

You know i will say doing the fact that this countertop had multiple edges was really challenging. You know you got the backsplash here, which is really hard and then you've also got the little lip at the bottom of the countertop and not to mention this. One is a 90 degree angle on the countertop. I think this film is really designed for like kitchen islands that are just squares, because that would make it really easy.

If you have a rounded kitchen island, which i don't think i've seen too many. But if you've got a ton of rounded areas, this product is probably not for you, because you're going to pull your hair out with how challenging it is. But again the biggest hard parts for me were um, these kind of corners and edges and the fact that there's a little lip here a little lip here lip here and it just made it a little bit challenging. But once i got the hang of it, it actually became a little bit easier.

It is a two-person job. I tried doing it alone on my on my own to start and it was really challenging. So it is a two-person job and actually you you think if you were to do a bunch of little pieces, that it wouldn't look as good um, because at first i wanted one massive piece for this entire area, including this kind of lip in the backsplash and Everything - and i realized that was just a little bit unrealistic, so you probably can't even tell i did put some caulking down here to kind of give it a little bit of something else to look at. But this is one piece.
That's another piece and this corner piece is a piece and then i'm sitting on a different piece. So there are actually a lot of different pieces on this countertop. You just can't really notice the difference unless you were to really look into it. But overall i will say that it was a little bit challenging to do if you're into arts and crafts.

It's probably a lot easier. I hate arts and crafts personally, so i hated doing this um, but again, caulking is gon na, be your friend just kind of like how it was in the bathroom. It's gon na make a bunch of things. Look a lot better, especially this lip right here.

You can kind of see a bunch of caulking there and then around the sink. It's a big deal to do that because it looks pretty ugly with a bunch of pieces. There's a piece here here here and over there. So, there's technically four actually five pieces with the backsplash around the sink, so it actually looks great because there's just a little bit of caulking around the seams and everything ended up looking pretty decent, but even with the nice looking countertops you do notice.

I do have some really nice hardware on here, which makes things look 10 times better. Now there was some really old hardware that was only one little knob on these holes on the bottom of these ones, right here, um, obviously on these drawers um. So what i decided to do was to completely revamp the hardware to give it a whole new look. Now again, i didn't really want to spend too much time or too much hassle with this.

So what i ended up doing was using the existing hole from the old hardware, which is this hole right here and then drilling a new hole at the top. So i could use the same hole and basically just drill one more and make it ten times quicker. That means i don't have to. Basically you know, drill new holes.

I don't have to like re-sand, i don't have to repaint. I don't have to refinish. Not do any of that junk took me five minutes to do like all of these, and it looks great and it's not really that apparent on the cupboards or these kind of handles, because it's pretty simple most people would have used those single holes to do the Biggest issue was on the drawers right. I can't use the same hole and still use this type of hardware, because otherwise my handle is going to be off center and that's no good.

So what we did was just use. The same hole got different types of hardware for that, so again, i didn't have to to basically re-sand repaint. Do any of that junk to fill in these old holes. I use the same hole.
Just got different single hole, hardware, it all matches and looks great. So again, i literally spent like five to ten minutes doing all of this hardware. It was really quick and easy and it was very cheap, so i'll leave the the set of hardware that i used i'll leave a link down below. If you want to check it out, most people would probably grab a bunch of these and they would do all of their cupboards like this.

They would get to the drawers and they would try to use the same set of hardware and try to fill in the hole in the middle or something gross like that, and it just does not look good. So i definitely recommend using the existing holes that your cabinets have if you're going to swap out the hardware, because it's going to take you so much less time. Let's keep our running total going the single hold hardware. I think i got a pack of 10 for 18.99 and then these um kind of double hold hardware.

I think i got 10 of them for a pack of 29.99, so that brings the grand total to this kitchen remodel or, i should say pretty much. The cabinets and the countertops to a grand total of 128.97, you could barely fill up a tank of gas for that kind of price these days, and it makes a world of a difference in here now. Yes, the whole project with you know the the flooring and painting the walls and the new doors and the door handles, and all that stuff. Of course, that was not 129, but for 129 to get a look like this is very unbeatable, which is why i wanted to make this quick little video.

Now the biggest thing with this film is going to be pretty much how long it lasts. Now, i'm really hoping that it lasts at least two to three years. That would be a major win in my book because of how cheap this stuff was, and then in two to three years. You know i don't mind putting on new countertops.

I was just trying to limit the overall expense on this entire remodel and yeah, we'll kind of see how long it holds up. I really think that going with the durable film is going to be worth it, though, because this stuff was super thick, but yeah. That was my idea of bringing a fresh look to a kitchen for super cheap you're gon na have to let me know in the comments what you think about this. Do you think this is worth it? Do you think it's a total waste and in like six months it's gon na be completely ruined if you've used this before, let me know in the comments down below, i would love to hear your feedback on this stuff, but ultimately i hope this video gives you Some ideas on how to do a nice kitchen remodel for really really really cheap, and if you want to see how the rest of this entire unit ended up.

Turning out along with how much money i spent um and just some before and after pictures - and you should definitely hit the link in the description to see the full video of the entire walkthrough of this place, because this is only the kitchen. The bathroom is a similar way on how i did a very cheap, remodel, the doors, the the flooring, the living room, dining room. Everything was a very cheap remodel and it looks phenomenal. So i definitely recommend you check that out.
Otherwise, at least i hope this video was enjoyable and if you did enjoy it or did find it helpful, then please hit that like button. Misleading. Countertops and cabinet hardware is not a kitchen remodel.

Flooring, paint, doors, etc. would also be good to share.
