I posted a video back in 2019 of the most popular searches on youtube and a lot of people really liked it. So today i want to make a video of that updated list and how things have changed two years later. So today, we're gon na be going over the most popular youtube searches in 2021. Hey everyone welcome back to a new video shawn's, the name and youtube's the game.

Today, we've been super financed content, heavy on the channel lately and i've been itching to get back into a youtube related content. So here we are, and if you haven't seen the video i posted in 2019, then you should definitely check that video out after this one. I will leave it linked down below, but in that video i talked about where i am getting this data and it's the same two years later right, i am getting it from hrefs they're super popular data collection company that uses the data they collect to help analyze, Search engine optimization and help marketers grow their brand and that's fancy talk for helping people create viral content, and i don't endorse them or anything like that. I actually have never even used their products at all.

I've heard great things about them, but i can't say whether or not it's actually worth it or not. I actually use something called vid iq. I've talked about it before it's a great way to see. You know what things are ranking well, how you can kind of increase your seo on your videos, all that really good data and analytics that you need you can get out of vid iq, which i really recommend and if you've never heard of vid iq.

I will leave a link down below for you to check out anyway. Let's talk about the top 100 searches in the united states in 2021, because the united states list is a little more fine-tuned than the world, because the world has a lot of terms in different languages. That would kind of skew things. So we're focusing on just the us today.

As you can see, the top 10 list consists of five people: pewdiepie markiplier billy eilish, david dobrik and jacksepticeye. You've probably heard these names before, because these are all dominating youtube content creators who have been dominating the platform for quite some time now, then we have three categories: asmr, music and fortnite, which are actually the same top three categories that made it in the list. In 2019, they've just all increased the ranking and actually grown in popularity, then. Lastly, we have two specific searches, old town, road and pewdiepie versus t-series, which is kind of like people, but i'd consider it to be just a little bit more specific.

Now, in 2019, the song that went absolutely bonkers was despacito, and so it's not really a shocker to see a new super popular song in the top 10 list this year, which is why we see old town road there. There's always that one song that just gets played over and over and over, but these top 10 search queries make up 28 million of 371 million. Total searches done - or i should say done that provided enough data, so 10 things out of 371 million searches, makes up the top 7.5 of all search volume. That's insane, and what's even wilder, is that 5 out of those 10 in that top 10 list is just people, so people are literally just searching.
Other people talk about fame, but let's continue on and look at the searches from 11 to 25.. We see joe rogan making some massive gains in popularity in recent years, but we now see a somewhat of a mix of people and topics, but it's still heavily dominated by specific people or brand names, and every time i see the wwe on this list. It kind of blows my mind because i feel like ufc is more popular or growing in more popularity than the wwe, but nonetheless another thing. That's kind of skewed on this list is mr beast - and i mentioned this back in 2019 in my old video, but this trend is continuing to get further and further and it's the fact that people come to youtube to search brands or people or kind of you Know bond with someone else on youtube versus before people would come on purely for entertainment and when i say entertainment i mean that they're searching things like top 10.

You know nfl hits or funniest cat videos or super funny, try not to laugh challenges and while people still search those items, they're not heavily dominated on youtube. Now people come to youtube to build a bond with the creator that they're watching that video connection is growing stronger and stronger on youtube, which i'll talk about in a little bit. But let's look at 26 to 50. we're now seeing more and more music creators and a few less youtube specific creators.

You know you see like eminem taylor, swift, posteem alone juice, world. You know the same big dogs we usually see every year just because of how deep their fan base goes. Now these used to be the people that, back in the day, if you were searching someone's name on youtube, you would search these massive music creators nowadays, you're not searching as much for music creators, they're searching more for your vloggers or people who are just sharing their Life with you bottom line is that people are searching for people and no longer based on that kind of topic, and i talked about this trend last time. I made a video like this, but it's just getting further and further driven home, and this is important because a lot of people try to grow their own youtube channels out there.

I get people reaching out all the time asking me and while they focus on the content that they create and they think oh, this content is going to be. You know seo optimized and it's going to be great and blah blah blah blah, and it's going to be a great content to make it on. I always tell them that's great. You did that research, that's great you're, making content like that, because that does matter.

But what matters even more is just putting out genuine content where people can actually connect with you as the creator. That's really the success with anything is people are at the other end of every goal in life, and you need to build that connection with people plus. I want to say real, quick that if someone searches for you know a a topic, let's say how to fix a door handle, and you posted this video and you're the first one and people go. I found this video on how to fix a door handle the odds of them.
Subscribing and watching more of your content is so much lower than if they were recommended to watch the video than if they found your specific brand, because the second you get that content on how to fix that door handle you're out. Let's actually look at a video of mine where the views are dominated by search. You can see that 77.2 percent of the views are coming from youtube search. That would mean that 9958 views out of the 12 868 came from search.

The bummer is that i only gained 194 subscribers off it, which means i only had 1.4 percent of people watching this video actually hit the subscribe button. That's like one in every 70 people, which is like not all that great. I guess it's not terrible, but it's not the best. I usually shoot for about every one in 40 people kind of subscribing - and i like to monitor these things, because it helps me curate kind of what content i'm making and how to make the content better.

And if you're trying to grow a brand on youtube, then you definitely should keep track of that data pretty heavily, because it really does help and there's a lot of really cool analytics. You can dive into within the youtube creator studio anyway. That was a little bit of a rabbit hole. We went on.

Let's get back to the list. All right, 51 to 100 has some other big creators on here, along with some of the more well-known brands and games. You know you actually do see the try not to laugh challenges which you saw on this list. It's kind of cool, maybe it'll, never die.

I don't know we'll see. You also see mr beast again, like i mentioned earlier, and my favorite part about this list compared to 2019 is that the paul brothers fell significantly on it now. I can't knock them too much because their income probably tripled or maybe quadrupled this year, but you know to each their own then. Last on this list is someone.

Who's helped pave the way for a youtubers. Today, it's jenna marbles one of the original youtube stars. So glad to see she is still on the list and people always ask me sean. How do you know what people are searching and i always look at them and say you know, that's the million dollar question.

We don't know what content is going to go viral until it goes viral sure, there's tools and tips and kind of some techniques. You can use to help curate kind of viral content, but you don't know for sure. That's the million dollar question. So i will say if you are looking to kind of create a channel or create a brand and drive more traffic to it.
I definitely recommend you check out bit iq and the tools that um you can get from bit iq the analytics and everything you get. Will help you create content that has a better chance at going viral, but again, at the end of the day, it's ultimately about building that connection with your viewers, and you know just fostering that, but vid iq linked down below check it out the data you can Learn from previous posted videos will help you create videos for the future, but that's the end of this one. I hope you enjoyed it. It's cool to always check back in and look at what the most popular searches are to see, what creators and what topics, and maybe just what items people are enjoying the most and then you can kind of take that data and go okay.

A lot of people really like mr beast: why do a lot of people really like mr beast? Well, he creates amazing and entertaining content, and then you can kind of help create your content that way as well. So again, hopefully you enjoyed the video. If you did, please hit that like button, please subscribe for more content likes. You know, help me make this a one in forty viewer.

You know subscribe to the video instead of a one in seventy. I would love you long time. Otherwise, that's it for this one again. I hope you enjoyed the video and i will see you in the next one.

You.
