I don't like Zuckerberg, the person gives me the creeps and that is reason enough not to invest in Meta.
I think Facebook will win out over TikTok with the help of governments because of fears over Chinese data collection
No, thank you.
Did you listen to the earnings call? They actually said exactly the opposite regarding Reels vs TikTok
I’m usually out and about all day long soul carrying glasses with me to be in the verse won’t work. When I think about it a lot of us are out and about all day long. So the meta-verse may be the end of Facebook. Is there really that many homebound bodies that will be on it all the time?
I picked up a small amount of meta today: around 0.25% of my portfolio
~25% growth per quarter in the last 6 months in reels lots of data is showing reels are growing rapidly. Tik tok acts as a regulatory shield for facebook because they are a chinese company plus if tik tok gets banned in the US reels will take a majority of their market share. So while tik tok is operating in the US im not worried about regulators if they get banned then you can start talking about them but then meta just took all of their market share.
They also lost $1.8b in FX exchange last quarter when the euro rebounds earnings will explode. Not to mention when ad rates come back.
If i were FB i would create REELS as a standalone app and would pay more money to content creators to move to the reels platform. Once content creators move the next step is to lobby against Chinese app ( donation to senators) and ban tik tok in the US and EU if possible. If u have the US, EU and India ( as tik tok is already banned) other south asian countries like Singapore Indonesia will follow suit end of TIK TOK. OF COURSE if Apple or Google were to buy tik tok then its game on 😁
Not touching meta with a 10 foot pole personally
I think there are a lot of businesses application capabilities in metaverse but it seems like they are so focused on social and advertising revenue. I think it’s time they make a real transformation to a b2b technology platform offering a new way to work in virtual learning, 3D business applications and commerce experiences. That is where the money is. I’ve never been in the metaverse but just what I read.
This was a great overview of the Facebook dilemma 👍
Tom, you lack knowledge
whats meta, literally no one calls it that lol
Call me old but I deleted my FB account. Call me old again because I'd rather be outside than in VR.
From what I’ve read 50% of the entire population cannot wear VR due to vertigo and another large % simply won’t go near it, older populations etc.. This is a bad bet IMO..
Yes, and they laughed when they said they could make a car run on batteries.
DO NOT SUPPORT META, SPEAK WITH YOUR WALLETS AND DON'T BUY THEIR PRODUCTS. PLEASE TAKE A STAND AND BOYCOTT META PRODUCTS.
While it's a good video the title is click baiting (and it's unlike you Tom to do that). Facebook is not on a 'death spiral'. Come'on! The concerns you're raising are valid. As you say, the market's already pricing them in. One weapon Meta has against TikTok is actually the regulatory! Considering the unhealthy relationship between USA/China, the SEC possible actions against Chinese companies then I do see that Meta can start lobbying to regulate TikTok! This can turn out a winner for Meta. Meta is changing its face and it's going to take time. Yes, it may not work. But … I don't see this company on a 'death spiral'. Worst case scenario: Zuckerberg will be replaced and they'll start over relying on their family-of-apps. That's still a huge asset which seems entirely un-estimated if not ignored by the market. Bottom line: Risky, but with a great opportunity. Folks should not fear the stock, but should know how to size their position.
I'm in at $60 as a cigar butt. About Two quarters.
Fantastic!
Yeah they can just release a twitter clone
I love the metaverse, and I believe Mark can make it really happen.i keep on buying+palantir.
Feeling those positive vibes
I started my first position today at $92
Interesting perspective. In Singapore, I've noticed the younger generation only using tiktok or YouTube shorts; the adults tend to use Facebook reels
Facebook is the most addictive substance on earth you think it’s going anywhere? Nah
Isn’t Apple due to come out with some AR/VR goggles as well? Hmmm.
Mark didn’t even see mobile. He resisted doing a mobile app forever. He thought the desktop would prevail. He deserves no credit for mobile anything. His team talked him into doing a native app in IOS and Android. He thought a web app was fine. This is why ZUCK sucks.
Zuckerberg likes man butt, deal with it
Tom, a couple of points I wanted to make. First approximately 80% of their capex is going to the family of apps side of the business not reality labs. So, saying “if you don’t believe in the metaverse you have no business investing in meta” seems 80% misplaced. Lol also, in terms of reels competing with tik tok do you think the reels monetization increasing 200% in a single quarter isn’t a convincing sign that they are making progress with reels? Also, they mentioned this increasing revenue was in part a result a result of accretive time spent on reels. Vinny
