What's up everybody happy holidays, today's candle scent is fresh balsam. I got this from um bath and body works. It smells really good, be careful with fire. You see us messing around, so today's video is going to be about delta airlines.

They are changing some things that i think is important when it comes to basic economy fares. So let's get right into this video. If you don't know me, my name is walter. I want to put this out here. Delta is still my favorite uh us carrier um, especially for those longer haul flights. I just like you know the comfort plus i like the the beverage service and all that good stuff, and typically there are wi-fi out of all the airlines for some reason. It may not be the fastest, but it is the one that works the most and they are actually changing it over to um.

I think it's satellite wi-fi um so that actually works the outlets work. The customer service is great. I don't really have issues with it and it's the airline that i obviously have earned status, i'm now a gold medallion with delta. So this article is from travel and leisure legion.

I'm going to put it right here for you guys, so you can see it and also down below if you want to read it as well, but this article is pretty much stating that tickets booked on tickets booked on delta after december 9th of this year. Of this year for travel on or after january, 1st 2022 will no longer earn award miles or count toward medallion status. Okay, so here's the thing um, if you didn't know already, when you are basic economy, you kind of just get what you pay for, and it is typically the cheapest uh. It's typically the cheapest option out of all of them.

But what we don't talk about is the difference in price. Okay. So if you're looking at a man, i'll put a screenshot right here just from atlanta to las vegas, i believe the flight was like 150 for maine, so the same seat as basic economy, just maine. Okay and you get to pick your own seat and things like that, um, you know based upon availability and the basic economy.

Fare is 120 something, and i think the difference was about 25 now, with basic economy fairs, you're not eligible for any upgrades or anything like that. You used to get. You know medallion qualification, miles and medalla qualification dollars with that, but you're not going to get any of that anymore um, nor you're going to be able to get obviously upgrades still to comfort, plus or first class. If available, it is um different.

But to me it's a basic fare, so i'm not too upset about it and if you really are concerned about you know getting mqms mqds or anything like that, you really want to do main cabin just the main seat uh anyway. Now i do that anyway, because i have status with them and i'm a gold medallion. Actually i actually just hit it on my last flight and delta has done a great job throughout the pandemic to roll over the status. That's really helped me because for me to do uh gold medallion is pretty difficult for me, because i try to always find the best deal, but with delta doing this for the last two years it made me want to fly delta and earn status, and i'm kind Of hooked, but if you're already, if you're someone who has delta status you're already not benefiting from doing base economy anyway, if you book a basement economy, fair you're, not going to be eligible for an upgrade to comfort, plus or first class or delta, one or anything That you know they're offering on that flight, so it doesn't make sense to do a basic fare anyway, and it's only a difference, as you can see, typically about 20 to 30 dollars from basic to nom.

Just just basically, you know just mean so, if you guys are already medallion members, it doesn't really apply to you, because most of you should probably not be doing basic anyway and if you guys are probably flying basic again to get these. You know status or statuses. Um, if you don't fly much like that, i think maybe the average person maybe flies three to four times per year round trip. I don't think you know people, i i definitely travel more than that.

I would say: maybe i travel 20 times, but there are people who obviously fly more than that, but if you're only flying four times, you're, probably not getting no status anyway on a yearly basis and you're, probably not loyal to one airline, you probably just fly whatever. Has the best deal and that's okay, but for the ones um who do fly, i'm not really impacting you. So i think this change was something that maybe doesn't look that and was just like, not really a big deal. Let's go ahead and you know just x this out because, if you're flying basic anyway, you're - probably not hitting that status, but what do you guys think um? You could look at it the other way, obviously and say well, i do have medallion status, maybe this fight.

I just don't care to get status or to get an upgrade like me personally, there are some flights where i may fly out five in the morning and i don't care if i'm in first class or comfort plus because i'm going to sleep anyway. So, if you're looking at it from that perspective, yes, this is something different. If you look at it from the other perspective of you, don't really care about status anyway or you. You know you typically book main or comfort, plus or first class, then you're fine, but i figured i'd.
