Many will attempt to compare Lucid with Tesla, but forget to analyze the fact that Lucid's CEO isn't attempting to compete with Tesla. In this video, I discuss why Lucid's 517 Mile EPA tested EV could become the future of luxury vehicles.

With the transition to electric vehicles beginning to accelerate tesla's, competition has been to say the least lacking. Nonetheless, as the ev market continues to expand, there's no doubt that there will be other players in the market at some point, whether it be in two or five years, spearheaded by a man named peter, lucid motors, may have the potential to capture the future luxury eevee Market, while tesla can outcompete lucid easily in performance and speed, lucid looks to capture a portion of the eevee market, similar to mercedes-benz, bentley and rolls-royce. Most recently lucid ran an epa test on his luxury sedan, dubs, the lucid air, and was able to achieve a range of 517 miles in this video. I'm going to cover why, despite believing that tesla's vehicles are technologically more advanced, i still see potential in lucid motors.

If you're new to the channel, please consider subscribing for more content like this and let's get right into it. Unlike many ceos who claim that they can out-compete tesla in performance, batteries and price, lucid motors knows that it won't be able to, and instead has been focusing on more of a niche market, expensive luxury vehicles. The model 3 is now in the mid 40s they're, aiming to get to 35 000 a car. How do you compete with that? Because our car is operating in a different sector of the market? It's truly luxurious, luxurious car.

So we're really uh. You need to compare us with a mercedes-benz s-class, not something like a c-class mercedes. What about the higher-end teslas? Well, an s-class mercedes is our core competitor, but a model s tesla. Yes, that would be a a comparative electric model, but we differ in that.

We are truly a luxury brand if you look at tesla they're, high-tech they're, beautifully engineered they're, very disruptive and their premium price, but you only have to get inside a tesla to recognize it's not really a luxury car. It's a premium car, but not true luxury notice. How the reporter attempts to bait peter the lucid motors ceo into saying that all his vehicles are superior to teslas the title of the interview even claims that lucid is taking on tesla when the reality is that the automaker is not in the same sector. Now lucid motors has been able to achieve an epa estimate of 517 miles by using two immensely important tactics.

These tactics seem to line up with tesla's strategy in its upcoming sports version of its model, s names, the plaid model, s which many speculate will be revealed on tesla's battery investor day as we'll soon analyze. I believe the specs of lucid's new vehicle prototype is a manifestation of the potential the plaid model s has. The truth is that lucid's batteries are not any better than tesla's. In fact, lucid's batteries are likely worse than tesla's in terms of energy density and price.

Nevertheless, lucid is able to obtain a range above 500 miles using two tactics, both of which tesla will likely use for its upcoming plaid model. Less lucid was able to bring down the drag coefficient of its air down to 0.21. To put this into perspective, the lowest drag coefficient of all luxury vehicles is the mercedes, a class which has a drag coefficient of 0.22. We've seen tesla test out all kinds of different tools on its plaid model: s to improve its aerodynamics and lucid's clever design is a hint at the potential.
This has, however, keep in mind that lucid's goal is to increase the range of its vehicle, whereas tesla is attempting to lower the 0 to 60 of its supplied model s. This difference in goals gives the vehicles extremely divergent designs from each other by improving the aerodynamics of its electric sedan. This improves the driving range by substantial amount, as it decreases air resistance against the vehicle. The lucid air has a battery pack as large as 130 kilowatt hours, whereas long range model s only has a 100 kilowatt hour battery pack.

This difference in battery size is substantial and allows the vehicle to have far longer lasting battery charge, similar to the first tactic. Tesla also looks to have a larger battery pack in its plaid model, less as it allows the vehicle to have a faster 0-60 while increasing the range of the vehicle. The lucid air will undoubtedly be expensive, with pricing expected to start at 100 000. However, given the specs and features of the vehicle, the price may turn out to be worth it similar to tesla lucy's interior design is extremely minimalistic, comprising of three different screens.

The company also claims that the lucid air will have a 0-60 under 2.5 seconds, while having top of the line. Comfort, i'm quite skeptical of lucid delivering on the price, but either way lucid is truly showing how the eevee market will eventually take over the entire car market as lucid can dominate the luxury market and tesla can control the market for sports cars when it comes to Autonomous driving, i'm also extremely skeptical of lucid, given the fact that the company has such a small data set while having no lidar technology. However, elon musk has discussed possibly licensing out the autopilot to other automakers, and there is potential for a deal to happen there. Unlike many of the other eevee companies attempting to take on tesla, i believe lucid will be able to capture a decent portion of the eevee market.

Assuming the specs are able to go into the production model, the market lucid looks to disrupt, is relatively small, and production will likely be difficult to ramp up, leaving a high risk high reward opportunity for the company. Let me know what you think about lucy's 517 mile ev and whether you think it is a manifestation of future luxury. Im never buying a lucid or their shares as they are working with journalist murdering Saudi's who always try to get monopolies through making gigantic losses at first.
Also their supporters are extremely toxic. Always negative comments about tesla, always attacks against musk and also they even hate spacex. They are like those football hooligans we have here who want to kill supporters of the opposing team. They dont even appreciate tesla for sustainable energy

  3. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Wahba says:

Well the Lucid Air is $69,900 for around 400 miles, certainly comparable with the Model S. The Dream edition is $169,000 with 517 miles. I think that model is competing with a different luxury sector

Lucied and Tesla better start now, because as soon as the major companies like Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai start really competing it over for Lucied and Tesla because these companies have already a name. I won’t ever trade my Toyota for a Tesla!!!

I am interested into lucid because they will be a real leader to the luxury brands which is inspiring to me now if was going to do a EV start up it won't be a wannabe tesla killer more like a competitive brand and putting what I want in EVs and have the customer base have something the agree on and make them happy in what they see or want in ther car I don't care I on compition I care what I think and see what authors say not like GM or ford where they slam advertising buy are junk now type of thing me it's like if I have a customer base that thinks the same way as me and authors like it the idea to

Have a great day that's just my thoughts I know to long but it's my long word

Slight correction, tesla is not making sports cars, they are making the ultimate drag race machine, the story of the "plaid" model S begines when top gear compared the model S to the taycan, and the taycan has won the drag race, so Elon was like Damn it let's download 50 more horsepower!!! Then carwow raced the model S with an update against the Porsche taycan and the taycan won again, then Elon was like Fu*k let's make a 3 motor version software updates can't solve everything. But the 3 motor version is going to be too heavy at the back end which means that it would make a poor handling vehicle even worse, so yeah Teslas are only drag cars and they are the best at it

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nichen says:

I gotta admit, its a fantastic car. With 517 miles of range and a luxurius interior aswell as amazing performance this could become quite a success.

Awesome and very insightful updates✌️✌️ Well i will also say this here…Even as the Covid-19 seems to reduce in some countries, the outbreak is still affecting the global economy. For now cryptocurrency has been the best alternative when it comes to making money online in this present economic meltdown, even as a lot of people tends to rush into Bitcoin trading it is best advised to implement a working strategy/daily signals so as to grow the little we have mostly as bitcoin is rallying in a bullish pattern. I have been trading with Richard Owen’s daily signals and strategy, his guidance makes trading less stressful and more profit despite the recent fluctuations. I was able to easily increase my portfolio in just 4 weeks of trading with Owen’s daily signals growing 1.3 BTC to 6.7 BTC. Alvin’s daily signals are very accurate and yields a great positive return on investment and is always available to give a helping hand whatsapp +17142425448 and Telgram @ Richard_Owen for inquiries into profitable trading systems.

Well, the risk in Lucid's shares maywell be, that Tesla might not buy the company out in favour of releasing a luxurious vehicle after the renewal of the battery consumption and lowering the price or raising the range to , say, 600 miles per charge. So, Mr Rawlinson may catapult to the rich list.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Yariv Morchi says:

Lucid will cost 150K not 100K. Definitely a luxury car for the rich. A lot of talk and promises. Like the Porsche Taycan 300 miles turned out to be 200 miles also price was increased by 50K or so. Concept ALWAYS look and seem better than the ACTUAL production. People often fall victims to the logical time fallacy – comparing FUTURE range with CURRENT range and also compare future PROMISED (not in production) with ACTUAL production range – This is logically stupid for a lack of a better word.

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars mockingbird187 says:

I wonder how Elon will react to this. On one hand, I feel like he could easily create a competing luxury car, perhaps under a seperate luxury moniker, to flick away the competition… but then on the other hand, perhaps he will feel the need to support his alleging that Tesla is not there to crush competition.
Should be interesting. Maybe he'll let them get a solid start to show that he is encouraging competition before entering that market.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Fiona-Doll-Heart says:

its not EPA rating it was done by a 3rd party EPA has have actual car for them give EPA rating this title is click bait

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Investing Education says:

Never heard of lucid until their recent range announcement. Wonder how many other ev companies r out there in the shadows.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Peter Gazdik says:

To me the range is ultra impressive. First, their CEO said the battery capacity will be substantially lower than 130 KWh (though probably higher than 110). But even if it was 130, it would be super impressive – it would mean they have found a way to manage batteries on par with Tesla and create a drivetrain (almost) as efficient as Tesla's. It's a truly remarkable achievement and means you have to take these guys seriously.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars blastum says:

I like the Lucid CEO a lot. He seems to be quite realistic and not at all the braggart (*count*milton*cough*). The strategy is a good one – Elon has already said the high end vehicles are insubstantial in its profitability now, and it's clearly going for the mass market – I don't see it going after the aromatherapy market. Lucid, if it can deliver, will have a nice niche.

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason C says:

Part of having a luxury product, be it a watch, purse, or car, is the brand. If Tesla is Rolex, then Lucid is a new watch brand that has more bells and whistles, but is also more expensive. That strategy doesn't work in most cases. When new companies try to establish themselves, they normally have to come out with more features at a lower price. If you're an established luxury brand, like Porsche, then a higher price (like in the case of the Taycan) may work. Lucid is trying to compete with the likes of Mercedes, but look at the brand strength of Mercedes compared to Lucid. In my opinion, Lucid will fail to gain traction as they are targeting the most discerning of buyers, where brand matters more than the marginal increase in benefits. Tesla is also just a battery day away from destroying that 517 mile range at which point the reclining rear seats of the Lucid are not worth $50,000 +.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Cyclops Vision says:

Tesla can't be in every market, there's room for more than one electrical vehicle manufacturer in the marketplace

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richard Shelton says:

Not an official EPA test. Test was performed by a third party using epa standards. I hope it is true, but I wouldn't call it any sort of breakthrough. They still need a 130 kWh battery to get this range. I'm a fan of all evs but until the car is in final production, we'll all just have to wait and see.

This car is not a Tesla competitor and I am getting tired of everyone claiming a new competitor is "coming". First of all, Elon Musk is trying to compete with ICE cars, he's not concerned about other evs. Secondly, if other current or future ev producers are trying to compete with tesla, they are missing the point and they're doomed anyway. It is not electric vs electric, it is electric vs ICE!

I also have read that 'analysts' ask GM CEO to spin off GM's ev division! Hahahahahaha. I hope they do. It will be the final nail in GM's coffin. They want to spin of the only future profits for the company and leave GM to fossilize, making ICE trucks? lmfao

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jojo valdez says:

In terms of design, the interior is okay, not wow, just okay. The exterior however is hideous. This will not turn luxury car buyers' heads.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Phillip Todd says:

….but it's hideous. Someone forgot to tell them that it's hideous. It looks like a bloated Chrysler 200.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jon Jennings says:

Tesla can’t seem to do luxury or high quality, which is probably down to their goals of being a high volume manufacturer. What Tesla does do extremely well is high tech and performance. There is certainly room for both manufacturers in the market, in fact I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some level of cooperation between them, maybe sharing of the supercharger network in the future. Personally I want the model3 which just went around Laguna Sera Super fast.

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars EdOne21 says:

I get they’re targeting ultra luxury but we need more companies to target entry level cars to truly change the world. Cars don’t need 800-900v. It’s overkill and just drives up development and car costs. The market is throwing billions at every EV now. If that were the case when Tesla was up and coming they would have developed the model 3 from the get go.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars First Name Second Name says:

🤔 Reduce drag and weight and then use a bigger battery 🔋 pack 🤦🏻‍♂️ not exactly rocket 🚀 science (and the cto comes across nervous in interviews)🤷🏻‍♂️

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Andrew Saint says:

Don't forget that Lucid supply the batteries and motors to Formula E racing teams. They must have an eye on efficiency and economy. Ceo was originally with lotus I think when Tesla wanted to create Roadster.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Michael Schuyler says:

How can something that does not exist leapfrog anything at all? It's a nice fantasy, but wake me u hen you an actually buy one of these things. And, oh! What about the cost? Are they competitive with Tesla? Most people can't afford a Mercedes Model S

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Barupen S says:

look… this is a dead company. You dont produce cars by being a carcompany only now, those times are over. if tesla ''enters'' this market this company has absolutely nothing to offer

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars AM says:

Looks like a good project, only thing questionable imo is that Saudi Arabia is the major investor.
