Hello, everyone and welcome back to a new video shawne's, the name YouTube's. The game in this video we're gon na be going over some great and simple techniques, to some amazing thumbnail creation and if you're new around here consider smacking that subscribe button. I go over all sorts of behind the scenes details in relation to YouTube on this channel and I even dive and do so much more detail about this whole thumbnail creation topic over on my website. Sean Malka comm so definitely check that out.
At the end of this video - and it will be linked in the description - so don't you worry, but without further ado, let's get going now. First of all, we're going to be going over some pretty general and basic level techniques that can do wonders for your channel. But the bottom line with thumbnail creation is the fact that we want our image to pop and stand out amongst the millions of other videos on the platform, as time goes on, thumbnail techniques change, so it's important to stay with the times, but no matter what's trendy And what's working at the time, a few things do stay constant. For example, you want your resolution of your thumbnail to be 1280 by 720.
You also wanted to look somewhat realistic. Okay, this is a video someone's going to be clicking on, so you want it to be somewhat realistic and ultimately you want the thing to absolutely pop, so maybe don't add too much text on there. Sometimes I see people have way too much text and it doesn't really make your image stand out and pop. But again you want to say with the times, but some things do stay constant.
So, let's go over a super, simple thumbnail technique today that I have found to work absolute wonders and since you've seen this realistic thumbnail for this video, you know that we'll be working with this image today. This is just an image. I found off Google, but ideally this would be a still shot from your video, or maybe it was a staged image that related to your video. While you can do tons of magic in Photoshop and other image based programs, it ultimately comes down to the image you're working with anyway we're working with that image today, and you really use any program out there, but pretty much everyone in the business will say.
Photoshop is hands-down the best program, but again for what we're doing today. We're using super super super, simple techniques that even Instagram could do something like this, but all right now the one Photoshop go ahead and drag your image on in and literally all we are going to do is change the brightness and contrast to make it pop, maybe Throw in some minor vibrance adjustments, but be careful not to overdo it and again we want it to look realistic and if you want to get kind of crazy, you can add in a photo filter or a vignette if it looks really nice and look at that Bam super simple adjustments in lighting and this image really pops now and, as you can see it's as simple as that, you don't need to be some sort of graphical design Pro to make some amazing looking thumbnails for YouTube. Just some simple lighting adjustments and some little effects here and there and you've got yourself a really, really really good thumbnail. Most people. These days are just overdoing it with all these effects and all these things thrown in the image just keep it simple, and I promise you it's gon na work wonders and again every channel is different when it comes to thumbnail, so find something that works with you. One thing is certain, though scale: your thumbnail use that whole canvas, because they show up super tiny on YouTube and again practice will make perfect. But I've personally tried many different styles and techniques over the years, but the simplest of thumbnails have always performed the best and again, if you want some more expert level techniques, when it comes to thumbnail design and check out my website, Shum Alfie calm, I guarantee you Won't be disappointed and if that's subscribe, button or maybe drop me a comment and tell me what your designs actually work best on youtube, but again guys Sean's, the name YouTube's the game. I wish you all the best of luck on here.
