For me, this is something I’ve spent a lot of time working on - I’m not naturally an extroverted person — deep down I’m a quiet, introverted guy who’s spent a lot of time improving the areas I felt needed work, because I didn’t want to be the dude who didn’t feel comfortable socializing with strangers or didn’t have the confidence to go after what I wanted, because I’d feel like I somehow wasn’t good enough or I didn’t deserve it. As we know, we don’t get what we want…we get what we are.
These are the 5 most practical steps to gaining more confidence over time:
Force yourself to do things that make you uncomfortable. You’re not going to grow as a person until you do this. If you’re scared of doing something, just do it. The whole point of this is to begin rewiring your brain to realize that you can put yourself in uncomfortable situations and nothing bad happens. You’ll slowly become more accustomed to thinking…I did something I was scared of…nothing bad happened…I felt better about doing something…I feel better knowing that I have control over my life and I make my own decisions…and I become more secure in myself. Keep doing this consistently.
Eye contact. This is a tough one, but it’s important. People who are confident have no problem looking someone in the eye - it shows that you’re sure of yourself and believe what you’re speaking. You become more controlled and purposeful in your entire attitude. Try practicing this. Next time you’re talking to someone, look them in the eye for as long as you can. Try for them to break eye contact first. It’s difficult in the beginning, but you’ll get better over time - and again, when you can look someone in the eye and tell them something - you will feel more in control.
Be yourself. Most people are walking around projecting an image they feel other people will like and accept. But these people aren’t the ones who command respect and have presence. The thing is, we all wish we could just truly be ourselves…flaws and all…and we ENVY others who just seem to be “them.” What I’ve found is that the more “you” you are, the more people ADMIRE that about you, and the more confident you become because you don’t have the “front” of trying to conform to what people think they want.
Accept that people will not like you. Sometimes you want to appeal to everyone - you don’t want anyone to dislike you, you want everyone to like you…you’re operating in the safe zone…but in the process, you end up not winning anyone because people don’t feel STRONGLY about you. The reality is that you will NEVER be able to win everyone, so don’t try. Be polarizing. Accept that people won’t like you and that’s OKAY…it’s a GOOD THING! Be happy someone actually doesn’t like you, because it’s not a big deal.
FEAR REGRET. Most people have the fear of loss…this is more powerful than the fear of gain. Tell someone “You could loss $100 or gain $100”…most people care more about holding on to what they have than to avoid losing it. But shift your mindset to fear of REGRET…imagine your loss is really your POTENTIAL. You LOSE OUT on being that person you COULD be, but your fear held you back. So the only thing you’re losing out if everything you COULD get if you tried. Think of that every time you’re afraid of losing something by playing it safe…don’t play it safe.

Im watching this before going to my bullshit job
This guy motivates me, it's a day to day thing, pick up your cross, and be yourself every day ! Not everyone is gonna like you, and do not f*$#@ play it safe !
I wish I could smash the like button a trillion times over 👍🏾👏🏾. Awesome video, thanks for being authentic
Great tips!! I’ve struggled with my self esteem for years and I’ve finally started seeing improvements by following these tips. Low self esteem ruins your life in so many ways you might not even think. It sucks.

Hello Graham,
You mentioned you dont know what to talk about other than work. May I ask how you do your small talks during sales?
Regards,
bitconneeeeeect 😀
I actually like your videos with the censored swearing better. It kind of provides another layer of entertainment value because it’s like a break from the seriousness of videos you make. Loving the content!
Your channel has become one of my favourites. I really like the content. I also like how you post a transcript underneath so I can easily go back and find a particular point you made that struck a chord with me, after I finish the videos. I also appreciate the reading and other recommendations. Keep up the great work! Best regards, JA
Great video. One of the best things that worked for me was reading about the subject. Unstoppable Confidence by Kent Sayre was the first book I read on this. It is a great book, and I will always be grateful to the person who recommended it to me. Like you said Graham, it is a process, and this book was a great tool in my personal transformation. Keep up the great videos man! Love it.
South park voice! ( fake motivation, not real, doesn't work, dislike, unsubscribe)
But really great video I just like when you do the troll voice!
Graham im the same way. Im also VERY hard on myself and if I don't do anything perfectly I rip myself apart.
Great video!
Great video man really helpful!
I love your videos man. Perfect amount of humor with professionalism. Makes my day sometimes
I love how you put an organized summary in the description! It helps review the main points after watching the video. Good job!
Do you have a girlfriend
Hell yeah man keep it up I needed this one
Would NEVER have guessed you were an introvert.
#4 is key. If you are turly yourself and a person doesn't like you…whatever.

You kinda look like Mike from suits
