I just ordered the Tesla Cybertruck - here is how I am buying it for just £58 per month.
The total price in the UK has not yet been announced, but going off the mark-up we get relative to US prices, I am expecting the Cybertruck to cost £80,187 in its fully specced Tri-Motor configuration with Full Self Driving.
So how is it possible to order a car that is this expensive and pay just £58 per month for it?
Well first off, the UK has a special Capital Allowances regime for businesses which means you are allowed to write off the purchase of new electric vehicles against business tax in the first year.
So this saves about £16,037 in corporation tax (I am using 20% as it is 19% at the moment, but rising to 23% in 2023 - I am hedging at somewhere in the middle).
It also saves a further 24,441 in dividend tax that would apply after the corporation tax is paid.
A further £2,450 is saved through not having to pay car tax in the UK on a 0 emissions vehicle over 5 years.
But you DO have to pay tax and National Insurance contributions on using the car as a Benefit In Kind from your employer which amounts to about £4,715 over the same 5 years.
With extremely cheap energy tariffs available for night-time prices, I am estimating a saving of about £14,315 on fuel costs and 5 years of making videos about the Cybertruck should net a further £11,200.
Investing the cash I would have to pay upfront and borrowing the money at 0% should yield 12,981 in returns over 5 years invested at 8% per year.
All of this nets out at a final price of about £3,478 which over the same 5-year period is just £58 per month.

Hey guys, it's sasha, i just ordered the tesla cyber truck. It cost me 100 pounds to go and place the initial deposit, but with hundreds of thousands of other people making the orders before i did. I expect it will take some time before the cyber truck actually arrives, as tesla haven't even finished building the factory at which the cyber truck is going to be made. I obviously haven't ever seen one in real life, but i did some math and the numbers were so compelling that i felt i had to place the order right away.

I went and looked at the tesla website i selected the most expensive tri-motor all-wheel drive option to get my 500 miles of range. I added the full self-driving option so that i could fix the price before any future increases and i hit buy it now. So literally about a minute i haven't had a few button clicks after i went on the website. I placed my order and i got the confirmation email, but how much did it cost me and how exactly am i planning to buy it for just 58 pounds a month which is roughly the price of a meal out for two well first, let's talk about the Price you'll notice that if you go on the uk website, the price is actually missing.

But if you look at the us website, you'll notice that the fully spec cyber truck currently costs 69 900. However, if you do go and compare the prices of other teslas, it appears that the price on the us website in us dollars without the savings and grants that they automatically build in is about five percent cheaper than the price of the identical car on the uk Website in british pounds because of the taxes, so i added the five percent and the six thousand eight hundred pounds for the full self driving option to get a total cyber truck price of eighty thousand one hundred and eighty seven pounds now. I know that the final version might cost something different, so there might be some extras that i absolutely must have when it comes to placing the actual final order when the production is actually happening, but just bear with me for now. First off, when you order the cyber truck in the uk, you can either do it personally or through the company and naturally enough, when i placed my order, i did it through my company because in the uk you're allowed to write down the entire cost of the Car in the first year of ownership against tax - and this is where the mass really starts.

Unfortunately, you can't take the v80 off in the same way, if you plan to use the car for personal use, but writing off the total amount against tax saves me. 16. 037 pounds on corporation tax and 24 441 pounds on dividend tax. If i was to pay myself money via dividends using the additional rates tax band.

Now i expect the car to take at least a year to actually turn up and i'm hoping that i can continue growing my youtube channel in the meantime. So hopefully i should be sitting in that bracket at that point now, i'm going to assume that i own the car for five years for some of my assumptions and i think that's kind of reasonable, but as it stands, electric vehicles in the uk do not pay Car tax, while the car that i currently do own cost me about 490 pounds a year at the moment, so not having to pay car tax for five years in a row saves me a further 2 450 pounds. But then you get stung with a benefit in kind tax, because my company will be providing the cyber truck to me for my personal use. I have to go and pay tax on that, and my company also has to pay class one national insurance so taking the full price of the car at 80 107 pounds and the higher benefit and kind rate of two percent.
That's going to apply from april 22 onwards, i will have to pay 943 pounds per year in total, which will add up to 4 715 pounds over the five years. Now i did some research and things like maintenance, insurance and depreciation actually probably going to be about the same as my current car. So i haven't taken those into account because there isn't a lot of difference, but one thing i will save a lot of money on is driving, so i will be driving around 12 000 miles per year and the tri-motor cyber truck says that it's gon na have A 200 kilowatt hour battery that delivers 500 miles on a single charge because of the massive range of 500 miles i'll, be able to charge the truck at home for pretty much 100 of its use and using something effective like the octopus, energy, agile tariff i'll. Be able to pay a rate of just 4p per kilowatt hour if i charge my car overnight when electricity is super cheap, so it will cost me about 8 pounds to drive the cyber truck 500 miles, which is unbelievably cheap.

Now, if i compare it to my current car, which, for example, would do 25 miles to the gallon at one pound 40 per liter, yes, prices where i live on. Petrol are exceptionally expensive. That would cost me 127 pounds for the same 500 miles or 305 pounds per year in petrol. So the difference between the two over the course of a year is going to be about 2 900 pounds or 14 315 pounds over the five-year period.

So after subtracting the tax write-off, the savings on petrol on the car tax, but then adding back the extra benefit in kind tax. I am left with 27 659 pounds, but the maths does not end there. I have enough in my investments to be able to go and buy the car outright with just plonking the cash out and buying it, but i don't plan on doing that. In fact, i plan on using a combination of zero percent credit cards and a small loan to myself for my business to cover that remaining amount.

Then i'm going to take that 27 659 pounds and invest it in the stock market. I'll essentially be borrowing from myself. In a way, at a zero percent rate, in order to be able to go and take that money put it in the in the market and make a profit instead of just spending it up front in the car, so over the same five years earning an average Of eight percent from sitting the s p 500, i expect to earn a gain of 12 980 pounds and 94 p using cumulative appreciation, and then this is the best bit. I'm planning to use a cyber truck as an interesting topic for some of my youtube videos.
So let's say i make one video every three months about the cyber truck things like first impressions reviews, the cost of ownership and whatever else comes to mind over the five years, there's going to be 20 videos assuming a relatively modest 20 000 views per video over Their lifetime, which i think might actually be higher if these videos do well and using my current advertising, rpm of about eight pounds per thousand views and a lower than what i'm currently getting affiliate revenue of 20 pounds per thousand views. I should make about 11 200 pounds in total from those videos, so subtracting the savings on the driving and adding the earnings from youtube. I am left with a total cost of just 3 477 pounds, 63 pence for my cyber truck spread over the five years that i've been doing all these calculations over that's just 57 pounds and 96 p per month, which is incredible. If you ask me, my sky tv subscription costs more than that, so this is one of my 20 videos about the cyber truck done.

Please make sure you go and hit the like button so that this video can reach more people so that i can earn a little bit more money so that my monthly cost for the purchase of the cyber truck can be even lower than that. Thank you. So much for watching, i hope you enjoyed it and, as always i'll see you guys later.

It looks like they spent much on designing an attractive vehicle.

if they can finally crack self driving you could then rent it out as a robo taxi.

This is a bit misleading by claiming the car will cost you £58 per month. It will actually cost you an additional £58 per month to what your current travel expenditure is. This is because you are deducting your current fuel costs.

The problem with writing off the fuel expenses becomes apparent in the case of the pandemic for example. A petrol driver will save all that money on their travel if they stay at home where as your £58 effective price goes up as you have to downgrade the fuel saving.

It's like if I said the pizza I just ordered for delivery only cost me £2 because I would have spent £8 on cooking at home anyway. (Total pizza cost being £10).

You'd make a great salesman at BrightHouse.

I wonder how the full self drive would work in the UK as you drive on the wrong side of the road?

sasha…all that to convince yourself to buy the cyber truck..mid life crisis hahaha !!!

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Drew says:

You've properly lost me! How does this save you dividend tax, which is on you personally? And how are you going to use personal credit cards or loans from the business to pay for a car that is owned by your company?

Borrowing on a credit card to invest in stocks, are you joking?

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Daniel Dochev says:

That sounds like a justification for buying the car in a rush lol

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Dennis Freeland says:

A fine example of cyber economics -figures created out of the imagination that can justify the purchase of just about anything. Will it pass the "i will tell my wife" test though.?

I’m more interested in what you dive now that costs 500 in road tax?

You've brought up some very good points that relate to any vehicle in general. Makes me wonder if it would be advantageous to set up a corporation and transfer ownership of my car to it haha. Probably not worth it for an 11 year old Corsa.

When the time comes around I can finance a car at 3.7% with an unsecured M&S bank loan so I'll be doing that so I don't lose all my free cash to a depreciating asset. Can put it into REITs or the good old VUSA.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J P says:

I was looking into this long ago but didn't seem worth it, you have to pay benefit in kind every year, also, you will need different insurance for private and company use. car needs to sleep in the company premises and you will be forced to sell when you close the company. Also I remember there was NI tax on it

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Alex says:

Wow! stunning deductions! if I buy my tesla at full price and drive it for 24 hours a day every day for 5 years I'll save 80,000 on petrol and get the car for FREE! :O

You do pay road tax because anything that retails over £40k or something is classed as ‘luxury vehicle’.

I was thinking few days ago how much would electric car cost as company car and saw that they removed the grants for the more expensive ones.
It still works out better financially, but there is no freaking way I am getting an electric car unless forced by Boris himself 🤣🤣🤣

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ed's Finance Corner says:

Absolutely love this Sasha – the loan to yourself and the video content benefit is huge! A lot of people spend more on their phone than you will be on this which is crazy haha

This is funny. I was wondering about using my limited liability company to purchase a model 3 and then this appears

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Triizzy says:

Yes but the fuel is a additional cost and doesn’t cancel out the cost of the car?
