Friday afternoons are one of the best times to trade, especially as a new or part-time trader. So why is Friday significant? There are a few reasons.
Number one, you quite often see what's called the Friday short squeeze. Short sellers are heavy in these momentum stocks, these big runners… and short sellers do not want to stay short over the weekend. It's very dangerous. Most of the time, these stocks that have spiked up and held throughout the week — especially if they're pushing those highs — short sellers want out! They want out because they don't want that weekend risk. They don't want to worry about what's coming Monday morning.
Companies really like to time their press releases, announcements, and contract wins. They like to release that news on Monday morning when everybody's back for the new week, everybody's rested and ready to buy some stocks. That's why shorts don't want stay in. They know that a stock's been holding up all week and there's a good chance there's a follow up press release or news coming out Monday morning.
So look for those heavily shorted stocks, positive price action, particularly the low float stocks with news.
The next one you want to look at is what you would call an OTC gapper. This is a chart pattern. It’s a stock that is at a multi-month, multi-week, or maybe even multi-year high on growing volume. And then, it's breaking that key level, that new level, that brings in new buyers. People are all starting to crowd in on Friday afternoon. This particularly works with the OTC stock.
Look for those OTC stocks making those multi-month, multi-year breakouts. They tend to gap up on Monday as well.

Gapping down !!
Hello! My question is how you get out when the stock is gapping out during the weekend! Thank you!
Cool, thanks
52 weeks gainers
Hey Tim, thanks for the video.
Do you think that the election this week will have a negative impact on swing trades over this coming weekend?
I love it when my account goes negatve.
Is there a place to go that has the weekend sales by banks on options
You are the better of the Tim's by far👍🏻
QUESTION
Do you ever trade at market open, or just the last couple of hours?
What does your daily day trading schedule look like?
How many tickers should you write down and plan each morning?
I am in the STT pro trial plan for 2 months, I am really leaning towards signing up at the end of the trial. But I am worried I may get used to it!! It’s so easy to find trades and knowing when to get in and out.
Rkda to the moon, quite a profitable day!!
Hi Tim, I'm just barely getting into stocks, I have been watching yours and Tim Sykes videos and I have started to catch on, I even bought the penny stocks course and I've started to dig into that too. My question is (and I may actually come across this in the penny stocks course guide) when you and Tim Sykes talk about the news on a stock where are you getting this news?
any considerations on a Mobile application? being a part time trader makes it difficult to be behind a computer lol xD up 50% for last month 🙂 lets gooo August!
I actually requested this information you guys are great . Haven’t bought at the end of any trading day yet I’ll keep studying and try it with paper trading account
Thanks!)
I’m interested in learning how to become a better swing trader. Does StocksToTrade provide charts that can be filtered on very few picks on how to catch these setups?
Tim you are the men my goals is to understand the market just like you Timothy Sykes do
Good stuff! This is my first weekend to watch the stocks. I'm taking notes and writing in journal. Thanks for your help! 👍
What's your favorite weekend strategy?
