Traditionally, day trading has been a male-dominated field. But that’s changing.
2020 has been a huge year for trading. Earlier this year, we experienced the ‘wildest 100 days in stock market history.’ More new traders have entered the market than ever before — and many of them are women.
In today’s episode of the SteadyTrade podcast, co-host Kim Ann Curtin is leading a round-table discussion with four up-and-coming women traders.
These women may come from very different walks of life, but they are united by a common passion for day trading. Learn from their stories and trading journeys — prepare to be inspired by these bold, brave, and savvy women traders.

Loved this episode!! I can relate to Michelle the most. I met Tim S. in 2017 along with Stephen Johnson and it’s taken me awhile to get going with three kids and a full time job. But started following Tim B. every morning on the Pre market prep. Learning even now and am currently red but creeping back up. I take small positions so it’s slow going in that sense. Learned sooo much from all these ladies. Thank to you all!!

I love seeing these women trading. My wife and I trade together every single morning for the last few years and I have a lot to say.

•Cutting losses quickly is the number one rule for a reason, and don't be afraid to cut if the stock isn't immediately doing what you want it to do. ESPECIALLY if you're buying a breakout. Something that Tim said a long time ago that has really resonated with me: "buying anything but a dip is chasing".

•Don't get caught up in studying. You can take days off, so don't feel guilty. Time spent watching content doesn't count as studying unless you're 100% focused. We wasted a TON of time watching video lessons and DVDs getting mixed messages that you won't understand until you get your screen time in. You have to watch the market actually run over and over again, while paying attention to level II.

•The #1 thing you should spend time trying to understand, is that the market is Not magical. The only pattern is fear, or greed, and it manifests in evolving ways. Your job is to focus enough to see what's working as fast as possible and adapt.

•If you are so scared you can't even place a trade, you're trading too big. Get a cash account and trade starting with 1 share and no commissions. Don't feel stupid, everyone has limits and they just need to be pushed slowly. The cash account will get rid of PDT anxiety and allow you to cut losses with more discipline. Trade what makes sense to you. If nothing makes sense to you, ask: where is the most likely spot current longs/shorts are in trouble and would have to exit at such and such level? Always start with understanding "who's in trouble"

•Daily charts are 100% necessary and you should pay attention to them before placing any trades. Stocks that are constantly going down, or popping and dropping, are likely to continue. Stocks breaking out into nice clear daily windows with no resistance in sight, with a strong catalyst, in a strong sector, are much more likely to keep going. It's really just simple things, but you have to sit on your hands if it's not right to trade. It's very very easy to just get caught up in someone's dumb luck Twitter post and feel like your missing out. Worry about your own account and your own process.

My wife and I used to hate the interruptions from the kids. Now it doesn't phase us. We aren't super profitable yet, but it's very clear to us that we know exactly what we are doing and that the occasional discipline problem is all that's holding us back.

My wife recently came across a quote that we both really love. "I've come too far to only come this far". while you are still in the beginning of this and don't feel like you understand it, it is so easy to doubt whether you are putting your energy into the right thing for your life. We knew from early on that there's no way this wasn't legit. it would be far too big of a conspiracy for everyone to be in on it. It is so so very sad how multi-level marketing uses all of the same positive quotes to sucker people into not giving up on something that has so much proof that it's not worth doing. To make them feel ashamed if they were to walk away. All you have to do is look at their income statements and you will see that 98% of the people involved don't make money. That is because the business isn't about selling products, it's about recruiting other people. trading on the other hand relies solely on you and your abilities. Learning to trade has been the hardest thing either of us have ever had to do, but we have grown into extremely resilient and emotionally stable people because of it, and we are able to teach our kids these lessons because of everything we are going through 💛

Female trader here. Grinding a year with a small account, live, three years paper trading before. Be prepared to be humbled in this biz or the market will humble you. Paper trading does not account for slippage, no emotions, easy fills, imo. And for me, I wish I didn't paper trade too long. If you expect to get rich quick, you have the wrong mindset, imo.

Also love the dedication and the time you all are putting in, don’t forget to plug in some time to balance your spiritual development and a walk and something physical. I have found that the more I do these things the better my trading days turn out.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Christen Williams says:

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Sonia Nohemi says:

OMG! THANK YOU SO MUCH for this! I had a loss today & I was so upset because I was "stubborn" I wanted to be right SMH I took the loss late in the afternoon and just kept beating myself about it. I knew my trade was going the wrong direction but refused to be wrong 🤦🏻‍♀️ Listening to this reminded me to cut my losses quickly and Thank God I'm not the only one with that "I don't wanna quit / perseverance mentality". This was a good episode, helped me reset! Thank You again 🙏🏼
