Well honestly I think the only person who's having a worse they than Kevin McCarthy who just lost his 11th vote and some say that Donald Trump should just be Speaker of the House Donald Trump was even nominated Speaker of the House today I'd say the only person doing worse than Kevin McCarthy right now is probably George Santos. You know, the guy who lies about everything. Yeah, well, that guy just had a nice little hit piece thrown in the New York Times about him from his predecessor and his predecessor says a con man is succeeding me in Congress And it talks about how it saddens him that after 30 years of Public Service I am being succeeded by a con man. Yikes.

But this video is about Kevin McCarthy's bad day not George Santos's lies Kevin McCarthy has now gone on record for creating one of the most, well, let's say popular periods of Uh speakership votes. Take a look at this chart here. there are 14 prior house Speaker elections where there have been many elections rather than just one. Usually you have an election every two years and it goes out without a hitch.

Here you could see we've had elections going all the way back to 1799 where the House of Representatives has has had to have multiple votes uh to elect the speaker of the house and we started off pretty simply. a couple, uh, a couple rounds, couple rounds, couple rounds, three three three three. And then we got a little crazy. Here in the 1800s, we went to 10, 11, 12, 22, 44, 63, and 133 election rounds to try to find a Speaker of the House in 1855.

that was when slavery was so contentious that Congress just ended up choosing somebody who got the most votes, not who got 51 percent of the votes or a simple majority. Which is what Kevin McCarthy needs for Kevin McCarthy to get to that simple majority. He started off in round one, 19 votes short. Now he was 20 votes short just yesterday and today he's a good 21 votes short.

So unfortunately, things aren't getting better for Kevin McCarthy And it probably doesn't help that the guy who promised to nominate Donald Trump for Speaker of the House is fulfilling his campaign promise and his cheering about exactly that right here. No greater country than America. There is no greater president than Donald J Trump And if you don't mind me saying so, there's not a better member of Congress than Marjorie Taylor Greene Give us the ability to fire Nancy Pelosi Take back the majority in Biden and I'm going to nominee Donald Trump for speaker of the United States House of Representatives Yeah, So there you go. Uh, and of course that's followed up by comments like this dude is becoming my all time favorite.

Now is it possible that Donald Trump could actually be Speaker of the House? Yes, it's possible, but possible does not mean probable See a possible means Donald Trump doesn't actually have to be an elected member of the House of Representatives. And yes, he could be voted in as the speaker of the house if he got the 218 votes that he needs which McCarthy can't get in. Judging by the nature of how the midterm elections went, that's probably unlikely. and that's not necessarily to cast blame on Donald Trump.

It's simply to say that a lot of Republicans have the impression at least those who are not Mago Republicans have the impression that an endorsement by Donald Trump in the Republican Party led to more contention and led to more maybe independent voters voting potentially for Democrats or more neutral style Republicans. So whether it's true or not, some people actually believe that Donald Trump helped contribute to losses for the Republican Party in the midterm election. This, in my opinion, makes it less likely that Donald Trump would be able to get many votes within the House of Representatives. However, if Donald Trump did I would imagine he potentially use it as almost a bully pulpit where for his press conferences.

Uh, speaker Laos could almost become a pseudo campaign rally for him and be another way to show. Look, I've got political experience, although not exactly sure you need to do that when you've been president before, so I'm not entirely convinced that getting into the very political position of Speaker of the House is ideal for Donald Trump and his election hopes. Anyway, it's probably better off staying focused on Election 2024, which keep in mind he's the only declared candidate for 2024. So anybody running against Donald Trump would probably weaponize the idea of Donald Trump actually being in the House of Representatives.

So really I think this is more hardlining and really just making more of a point and trying to get attention that it is anything of seriousness. remember Donald Trump said he encourages America and the Republicans to vote for for McCarthy. Not only did he say that, but he also made it very clear that at least we'll never have Nancy Pelosi as Speaker of the House again. Now it depends maybe you like Nancy Pelosi But anyway, continuing with the video, let's be real.

Here's what's happening in Congress Even though we love making fun of Congress as a bunch of children, the reality is this is half a negotiation Ploy and half a virality ploy. When people say extreme things and then do extreme things, they got a lot of attention and that attention helps them build a name and a reputation as doing uh, you know, things that are a little out there and that way when they run for office or larger office in the future, be it going from the house to the senate, or going for president when they make large and outrageous claims, they can argue that well. I have a history of following through with them. So on one hand, you have individuals who say what they need to say and do what they need to do to get attention.

Unfortunately, Kevin McCarthy can only lose four votes and if you have too many people who say I would never want Kevin McCarthy and I'm gonna go for something extreme instead. Yes, Kevin McCarthy ain't gonna make it unless they change the rules or they get Democrats on board which would be quite embarrassing for Kevin McCarthy to have to go over to Nancy Pelosi and ask her for help getting some votes. So far, Joe Biden calls this experience embarrassing and Nancy Pelosi suggests good luck we ain't helping you get any votes to get in Kevin McCarthy So that leaves a negotiation with the other individuals who are not never Kevin McCarthy's the other individuals are negotiating as is reasonably done in Congress For things like smaller spending bills or making sure that spending Bill limitations are brought to the floor, there are about 12 potential bills or amendments that Republicans are seeking get brought to the floor and the person who can bring bills to the floor is the majority leader. If you have a majority leader who doesn't end up bringing a bill to the floor, then it doesn't get a chance to get voted on.

This was pretty common during the stimulus days when Mitch McConnell would just choose not to bring certain bills to the floor even though Democrats had the votes to pass them. That's a way that the speaker can actually have a lot of power. So by getting promises from the speaker that the speaker is actually going to bring bills to the floor just like Mitch McConnell blocked in the Senate during the covet days, then maybe just maybe he might be able to shake up some more votes by promising to bring their bills to the floor like a term limits bill. Right now, there's some suggesting hey, we just want to be able to vote on a three-term limit bill.

For people who are as a part of the House of Representatives right now, there are no term limits for the House of Representatives, That means you could be a member of Congress in the House of Representatives for Eva Now Kevin McCarthy Has hope that through negotiations, especially on spending bills and term limits and maybe committee assignments, he could sway individuals like Chip Roy who might be able to bring over six total votes. Unfortunately, Kevin car that needs a whole lot more than six votes, he needs 21 votes to come over, which is a little bit problematic. And so this is starting. murmurings about potential other options for candidates.

Brian Donalds is being considered Donald Trump as being considered Steve Scalise, who's the number two? Republican in the house? he's being considered. Keep in mind Steve Scalise Rose to popularity Actually, after being shot at a baseball game by what was deemed a left-wing extremist. Uh, and then there's at least Stephanie at the third ranking. Republican who's not officially been nominated, but she's also being considered.

Although you do have Donald Trump and Elon Musk endorsing Kevin McCarthy and just suggesting, look for the sake of the unity or Unity within the Republican party, just get Kevin McCarthy in. We'll see, though right now it seems like there's a lot of negotiating to do. However, on the 13th of January, we'll start running into some expirations like the expirations of security clearances bills not being able to get passed. Staff won't get paid, but of course members of Congress will continue to get paid even if they haven't been sworn in yet.

That means George Santos Our favorite new member of Congress will get paid, but his staff won't All House business basically freezes and the fear is that if it's so difficult to elect a speaker of the house today, imagine how difficult it is going to be to pass the debt ceiling again when we need to extend it probably around July that the treasury Department has not yet provided an exact time frame for when that we might hit that treasury debt ceiling limit. So we'll see. You do also have some folks freaking out over the idea that the New York Times and certain Uh authors like Mara Gay over at the New York Times are suggesting that some anti-kevin McCarthy folks were elected to quote stop the tide of diversity in the Country The Browning of America and the fears that surround that. So AKA It's racism that's stopping Kevin McCarthy from getting elected.

Of course. others say that's ridiculous. That's hyperbolic journalism. The real reason Kevin McCarthy isn't getting elected is because he's too swamped.

He is too much a part of the establishment, bought out by corruption and lobbyists, and we need more than just negotiation. We need a replacement. I'm not entirely sure what you think, but these are some of the arguments being made on all sides. So you've got the extreme views that say never McCarthy Let's get somebody totally different.

You got some folks saying some Republicans are just being racist by not nominating or electing and voting for Kevin McCarthy And then you've got a lot of folks in the middle just saying. We're just looking for some concessions and then we'll vote for Kevin McCarthy This is just typical Congressional brinksmanship. My opinion out of all of this is I Would guess within the next week we'll probably have a solution. However, I'm personally not so worried about Speaker of the House I'm a little bit more worried about what this means for actually being able to get anything done.

Forget bipartisanship when we have this kind of stuff happening. but then again, maybe that's an okay thing for certain issues. Congress Can't pass bills. That means they can't spend more stimulus money and add to inflation.

Now that could hurt some individuals though, which would be a problem. In addition to That it also limits the ability of Congress to actually finally do something regarding Title 42, the ending of that, and finally streamlining legalized immigration. So hard-working individuals who want to legally immigrate to the United States can do so without a fear of having to cross the border and then getting banned from the United States for five years.
