Day trading is exactly that — trading on the day. Typically, you enter and exit a position in the same day. Well, usually. Find out what Bohen consider a day trade and why.
Now, if you have the schedule to stay locked in, day trading can be awesome! But these stocks move quickly, so you need to be prepared.
It’s way different from investing, which is more about fundamentals and a company’s prospects versus the hype. Bohen gives a great book recommendation here, so be sure to tune in and check it out.
So what if you could bring both day trading and investing together? Well, you’d get swing trading. This trading strategy is a combination of story stocks with good price, high volume, and the potential for big, longer-term moves.
Bohen uses StoneCo Ltd (NASDAQ: STNE) as an example here. Don’t miss all the deets! Plus, there’s a swing trading course linked above for you.

So we're gon na be talking about day trading, swing trading and investing. They're all about stocks, but they're very differently, mostly based on timeframe, but also risk.. I'm gon na start out big picture and then get a little more granular.. So when we talk day trading, what we are doing is exactly from the sound of it: we're trading on the day., We're in and out the same day or the next day, you're, basically quite frequently., And actually I've done a lot of videos talking about how to Work around the pattern day: trader rule., If you're under the PDT, definitely check out those links..
So I do call gappers as we like to call them. Those are still day trades in my mind. And in most day trader's mind., And so what that gapper is. It's basically a day trade but you're buying a really strong stock.
Like RKDA, a agricultural play.. You can see kind of gaping up running here into the close. You're looking to buy that stock right into the close finishing on strength., Then that shows up on everybody's scans. And then you sell the next morning.
Hence the gapper., And even though you're in an basically you are holding overnight, you are selling the next day.. It's still a day. Trade type idea., You're trading price, momentum. You're, basically, recognizing that a lot of people day, trade at night.
And a lot of people love those market orders at the open.. Please don't use market orders but you're my peeps. Okay. I want you guys to succeed..
Don't tell everybody to quit doing it.. Okay, You don't use market orders, especially at the market open.. Okay. Now all the people that don't wan na get informed that don't watch my videos that just want to get rich, quick and buy a Lambo keep using your market orders at the market, open ,'cause that creates these beautiful gap up that we can sell into anyway..
And you get terrible fills with your market orders, but you guys don't do it, but tell the people you don't like to use market orders it'll to help us all out. Anyway. The point is a very short term and really think of day trading.. Maybe you've heard me say this on other videos., I'm always careful with this, but there is that idea of trade.
The ticker. And I agree from a day trading perspective and what that trade, the ticker idea means is. This is letters.. Okay, It's RKDA! It's MULN! It's IMPPP: it's HYMC, it's CYRN.! It's just these letters that people pile into and then pile out, of.
Okay. Great thing about day trading, tons of opportunity, long and short.'Cause. A lot of these stocks are up on dubious, reasons. They're, pumped on Twitter.
They're pumped in chat rooms., Again people just clueless trading that FOMO trade that creates extreme volatility.. So when we're day trading most of the time we're just trading the ticket., We see price action.. We see ridiculous volume., Maybe it's a low float stock trading. I mean we've seen low float stocks, trade, almost a billion chairs in the day before ridiculous volume.. We recognize key levels, etcetera on the chart, but we don't get. We don't spend that much time on due diligence, because it's mostly just price and volume and trading a ticker that everybody's in love. With. Now point is day.
Trading is awesome.. If you can stay locked, in. Hey, if you maybe work afternoons, maybe your west coast, I mean west, I've always been jealous of west coast traders because you could be in theory. Obviously you could end your trading day at noon, Eastern as you're off to that nine.
To five. I mean so anyway, if your schedule works, if you're, tired or maybe you've got a job that you can just work flexible hours day trading is awesome, but you got ta stay locked on.. These stocks make huge moves to the upside. Huge moves to the downside and you can't be wandering off for a couple hours when you're in some low float for 100 % runner.
Day trading's awesome. If you can stay focused. Now, then I'm gon na jump over to investing. And then I'm gon na talk about swing trading and how it's kinder combination of the boat..
So when we're talking investing this is the Warren buffet model.. Benjamin Graham. I've got my Benjamin Graham book here somewhere., I always call it the Bible of trading.. The intelligent investor must read by the way, even if you're a day trade, please read the intelligent investor., It's a great way to get in the mindset of in trading and investing., And it gives you a great breakdown of just understanding the mechanics of the stock market.
The mechanics of publicly traded stocks, but with investing you're more believing in the fundamentals and the prospects of the company versus the hype in the momentum. I mean, like Apple, is a great example.. Maybe you've heard me say: this., I'm like listen. If I was to go off to the wilderness for two years, I'd buy some Apple., I mean.
Listen. Apple obviously goes down.. All stocks go down, but anytime Apple has gone down in the last well since the iPhone when it what 2008 or whatever 2007, whenever the iPhone every time it's gone down, it's bounced back.. They continue to just the war.
Chest. I mean last, I saw like Apple. Has like $ 200 billion. So like even if things do go wrong at Apple, they got so much cash.
They got so much. Cash flow from the constant inflow of all of us, buying a new iPhone every six months. That it's one of those investments in trades.. You don't have to sit there and watch every day.
Now again. Obviously bad things can happen., I think, back to when Steve jobs passed away. I mean stock was scary there for a while, because people thought hey can Apple continue on post, Steve jobs. I mean any company like Jeff Bezos, when he kind of step down from the lead role at Amazon.
Amazon got a little shaky, but then it round back.. So, with investing it's more big picture, idea., It's more looking at sales., It's more looking at cash flow., It's more looking at the war chest and recognizing that this is something that you can hold for multiple date or multiple months or multiple years, but you got ta! Have realistic expectations. I mean here: we go. Apple is on an epic run. Okay., 8, 1, 2. 3. 4. 5.
6, 8 green days in a row. Amazing., I mean that's a heck eight green days in a row for either, though number one or number two largest market cap stock in the world. Apple depend back and forth. They kinda go back and forth with Amazon as the biggest company in the history of the world.
And eight green days in a row. And it's up $ 15 a share in those eight days., You got ta understand: 1 % move 2 % moves in a day.. I mean today's a huge day up: one 1.1 % I mean Apple very seldom has bigger days than 2 %, I mean, maybe they announce some amazing new product and maybe it moves 5 %. So you got ta have a long timeframe and you got ta be able to have the patience to wait.
Most people that are attracted to day trading.. I hate to use the get rich, quick idea, but listen most people don't want to wait months or years to make 10 or 15 % So, but that could be you and take a balanced approach.. Nothing wrong with having multiple accounts. You've got that..
Maybe it's your IRA., Maybe you've got a self-directed IRA and you're buying some Apple over. There excuse me., And then you got your day: trade account and you're in and out of trading the ticker on those day, trade ideas.. So that being said, let's talk about bringing those two together. And what I think is the best way to trade.
If you are part-time and I'm guessing many of you are. Welcome to the channel.. I hope none of you quit your job to day trade full time and then went to YouTube and typed how to learn to trade.. Baby steps takes time.
I'll help, you get there., But many of you are probably got a job.. Hopefully maybe you got a family. Maybe you got a lot of stuff going on, but you're looking to get involved in the market. You're, looking to learn you're looking to grow your account..
So what swing trading is is a combination of story, stocks with good price, good volume and good potential for bigger moves. STNE is a good example.. So this was an earnings winner, the other day law of earnings winners., Especially for swing trades.. So when we say in earnings winner, they announced great earnings gap.
Excuse me gaped up to 12 here from nine to 12 and then they're, also in a hot sector. Cool technology, lot of buzz and they're profitable.. So it's a low price stock with hype with momentum.. That's not just moving on trade, the ticker type stuff, not just people piling in and piling out, there's fundamentals behind this, the sector, the technology and the earnings..
Now you can hold this stock in the short term multiple days, maybe couple weeks and make day trade similar. Like gains. Went from 12 to 15, currently sitting at 1450 building a bull flag right now, bull flag's, a technical pattern would not surprise me to see this thing break out and head all. The way back to 20. Fill that gap. Or actually 30 is where the to fill the gap.. So would not surprise to see me over the next few weeks.. I borrowing any market shakeouts for this thing to just gradually trend back.
And all of a sudden. It fills the gap to 30. And that's basically a double if it makes the move that it looks like it's building right now from 12 13, 14 to 30. In a matter of weeks hundred percent gained., Obviously nothing's guaranteed., You have to have a stop..
If some news comes out or situation in Ukraine in Russia worsens, that's gon na change. Any of these earnings winners, but you've got a good combination of a lower price stock with a story and technology and a check pattern with the nicest bull flag and a gap to fill., And you could make in theory if the plan idea works. Hundred percent in the matter of weeks, or maybe 50 % or maybe 80 % Day, trade like gains in a short period of time, that can really grow your account. And last point back to the part-time trading idea.
You don't have to say and watch every single tick every minute of the day. Listen NASDAQ stocks, NYC stocks start trading at 4:00 AM and they trade up until 8:00 PM. It's 16 hours a day, but you got ta watch these crazy penny, stocks., STNE, barely trades. In three barely trades in after hours, slowly trends through the day., You don't have to micromanage it..
Alright, everyone double experiment track your data.. I just I've, know a lot of people that are lured by day trading, but it just didn't necessarily fit their mindset.. Then they came to day trading ,'cause. They were sick of investing because they're, like oh I've, held Apple for a year and I'm up 6 %.
Then they kinda overlook the idea of having that process and that methodology of swing trading.. That being said, I have an entire swing trading course for free on YouTube., We'll drop a link below., I step you through the process.. You get a work sheet. You get an entire.
How to check that out. And, as I mentioned, check out, the steady trade team would love to work with you.
