Actually their exports grew by 10.1% in the first 8 months, even with lockdowns. China's economy is quite resilient and even with a year of turmoil, I see a bounce back.

To this crisis add the collapse of China's ponzi like housing model, its collapsing demographics, endemic corruption, systemic demicide etc. By a thousand cuts China will slowly bleed such that by 2050 it will likely be a pale shadow of what it is today.

WSM is going full conspiracy theories now. What happened to Wall Street? Should have more news about the impending collapse that is already starting. Other news we are not getting is the dollar shortage and the drop in Asian currency values such as the Japanese Yen, Korean Won and the Chinese Yuan. Some of those currencies have dropped close to 40% of its value in just the last year. Weather phenomenon, although serious, is transitory.
Its not just China that is going through a drought and and high temperatures. Its a phenomena called "La Nina" and this year was one of the strongest in the history. Areas like Los Angeles has experienced one of the highest ocean water temperatures and have been catching record number of warm water Dorado for the past few months. Usually La Nina causes the water temperature to drop, but the drop was only in the tropic areas, whereas the usually cooler areas are getting high temperatures. Its not something I have ever experienced in half a century.

How are they over reliant on Hydro? Even their coal factories are at max. They have a energy issue. Put up some nuclear plants and call it a day tbh

Considering china's history with massive infrastructure spending, comfort with planning decades ahead, and need for reliable non polluting power, you would expect china to be in a perfect position socially and economicly to invest heavily in nuclear so why don't they?
