Yes. While I know the consumer segment of many of these businesses is a small portion of their total business, AMD doesn't seem to purposely isolate their product lines for consumer, HPC, data center etc. as much as Intel and Nvidia do. The fact that the competitors are either having supply issues or drawn out process node issues that they have no excuse for not overcoming by now, provides an opportunity to understand how receptive and enthusiastic upcoming generations of GPU/CPU/other products will be. Zen 2 saw a lot of people finally jump over to Team Red, and with it becoming less and less enticing nowadays to upgrade every generation, hopefully people still have confidence in their ability to deliver a good GPU. AMD has been overpromising and overhyping their GPUs year after year after year and losing loyal customers who felt deceived one too many times. It looks like their new GPU line is very promising, and with Nvidia having supply issues and third-party providers having defective products as a result of Nvidia withholding guidance on recommended manufacturing specs, Intel's discrete GPU endeavor having nothing to show for the hype they built up over two or three years, Nvidia's previous RTX 20 generation having a very anemic adoption rate, and disappointing offerings by AMD above budget GPU segment; I think the AMD 6000 GPUs are going to sell extremely well. It looks like the new Zen 3 Ryzen series processors have a massive performance increase for single core processing speed, which by a tangible margin, finally ends The last thing Intel reigned at and so desperately based their past marketing strategies around. AMD doesn't look like they're letting up anytime soon and are still fighting like they're the underdog desperate to stay in business. Intel replaced a culture which insisted upon innovation and evolution, where failure to deliver was not an option, with one relying more and more on deceptive marketing, brand recognition, and strong arm business practices with OEMs and third-party businesses. Sorry this comment ended up becoming way too long, but there are just so many underlying reasons as to why AMD as a company has set themselves far in front of complacent competitors. I have AMD sitting in my 401k where I plan on keeping it barring some dramatic change to the company.

Got in on the action at $55 in May, sold ~50% at $90 and still holding the rest. The funny thing is, I was a bit worried that I missed the boat when AMD was selling at ~$40 and I thought I may have gone in too late.

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Danny L says:

AMD has huge opportunity, they haven't competed with intel cpu's in a long time and their 5000's looks to be doing that. On top of that the gpu's look to be completing with Nvidia gpu's this year, something they haven't done in 12 years. On top of that their new SAM technology, where if you buy a new Cpu and Gpu from AMD will have improved performance gains. I only see a bright future ahead.

Hey Ricky! I am currently 17 and I am really looking at getting into day trading soon. I know you are kinda bias towards your program haha, but how much do you help people learn and succeed in the stock market?

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Zonker Harris says:

Is this not a very geeky channel? AMD just released Big Navi today (10/28)… they seem to be better than Nvidia's 30 series GPUs… well, cheaper anyway for marginally less power. Still, the 5000 series CPUs combined with these new GPUs… those are the two main bits in a computer. How can these nor have a bearing? I got a bit overly excited and invested $1,250 at x5 leverage. Throw them bones!

relatively new trader here (a few years), just had a quick question for anyone that feels like answering: so after the acquisition yesterday, I actually sold 8 AMD stocks (average price for them were like 80 bucks or so) for about 78 and bought 6 Xilinx shares. From my understanding, AMD will give a fixed 1.7234 exchange ratio for each share if Xilinx. My question is.. will that ever change and does that mean that my 6 shares of Xilinx are worth 10.34 shares of AMD? Is that automatically converted ONCE the acquisition is finalized (I heard something about the end of 2021) it sounds too good to be true. Any risk involved with what I'm doing if my mentality is still "AMD will succeed long term", ie: can they cancel the merger last minute and I'm left with 0 AMD shares and a bunch of worthless Xilinx shares?

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ciaran says:

The market looks like there will be a lot of action around the 20th or 23rd. Becareful guys. (November) AMD will be prime for at least another year, but Intel will be killing it R&D wise in about 1.5 years, meaning Intel will start showing up hard in about 2-3 years time.

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ciaran says:

Intel took Alterra, only makes sense for AMD to get a sweet FPGA maker like XILINX. FPGA's and die packaging are great avenues for 'chip' innovation.

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars JosephF1992 says:

my avg price for AMD is $12.22 @500 shares 🙂 glad I bought em a few years back when nobody believed in them. Holding until they hit $200
