This exemplifies psychological phenomenon I remember hearing about. Let’s say there was a rich person and a poor person both at a poker table. They found that when a rich person loses money to someone who is rich or does not value the money very much they aren’t that bothered. (IE: maybe says I’m just gonna go blow this hole winning pot on cocaine and hookers.)
And when a rich person loses money to a poor person or someone who cherishes the money, get rich person gets more upset about their loss. (IE: the poor winner says “thank god I won this, I need to get groceries and medical treatment for my sister.”)
