Bitcoin is in the center of discussion again. According to billionaire Ray Dalio, there is a ‘Good probability’ the U.S. will outlaw bitcoin. The founder of Bridgewater Associates Ray Dalio spoke to Yahoo Finance and shared his thoughts on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. His logic for Bitcoin getting banned according to the interview is that every country treasures its monopoly on controlling the supply and demand of money. They don't want other monies to be operating or competing because things can get out of control and hence he expects more government to try and ban Bitcoin.

You would "ban it" by ultra-taxing Americans that have btc.

  4. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Starcraftmazter says:

Government prefers to tax things rather than making them illegal. Take a look at the most addictive drugs – sugar and alcohol.

I mean it wasn’t a formal currency since the beginning. If it’s outlawed than it will be used in the dark internet and other 3rd parties via internet. It’s a good chance that it will be taxed and I believe it is taxable in America now.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stuart Walsh says:

Rubbish, how do you outlaw a decentralised currency?

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars It’s a me Cardio says:

Banning Bitcoin is like banning drugs. Just turns it into an underground market

It's like the past issue with marijuana now the government is now trying to accept it state by state , because they finally got a big cut of it.

Rakes in tons of revenue, beneficial to all, upsets the top corrupt industries.

Janet Yellen has mentioned this in the past and said it would be revisited for regulations. One reason why I didn't invest in the first place.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars andybaldman says:

Even if he's wrong about the mechanics of it being banned, he's still right about the government's motivation to maintain a monopoly. And that's the important part of Ray's message. Saying he's delusional is missing the point.

    I agree with Ray Dalio.
What most BTC fans forget that the governments can and will control the internet and they can trace all the transactions of the blockchain for their taxing or confiscation purposes.
And who do you BTC fans think owns the governments?

Hey Tom, sell all your bit coin positions and then make this video again. You will reach the same conclusion as Ray Dalio.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rich Ireland says:

As a hedge fund manager does Ray Dalio stand to gain if he spreads FUD about his hedge? I don't see Mr Dalio as delusional, merely deceptive. Everyone is trying to protect what little they have left in this bloodbath. Ray Dalio is no different.

Not “every country”, it’s totally legal to start your own currency in Sweden for example. Is that not legal in the US of A, the land of the free?

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars J. says:

You can’t control a decentralized currency there Ray…🤦🏼

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Randall Ginger says:

    He’s all bullS**t.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ono Northey says:

I could see the banning of mining, and the storage of wallets within a country, treating it like an illegal substance. But all that would do is create offshore accounts, driving wealth away from the countries. That brings the question of "would ALL countries ban BTC?" – which is another question to consider, I suppose. But if only one country didn't (say China) they would control a vast amount of wealth… Which I think would still have value…? It is interesting to think about. Dalio is no joke. Bright guy.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jim Diet says:

Imagine the criminals can no longer demand Bit coin for their ransom virus.

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Champ says:

The US will lose billions of not trillions in taxes if they try to outlaw Cryptocurrency. If they want to keep the country above water they will need to embrace cryptocurrency.
